I'm leaning more into wanting to either double dip defense in the first or use one to trade down. I'd be upset if we drafted a WR. It's not because I think it'd be a waste with Hurts but just that the defense really needs some studs

Are we just trying to smokescreen someone into overdrafting Jurgens or something? He's not on the radar at all and then all of sudden, four days before the draft everyone is now saying that he's top of the list for our 2nd. Makes no sense to me.

Can’t say I agree with Greg about Davis. What greg goes not mention is that a significant part of Davis’s duties was to keep Dean clean. Whichever of the two guards would try to climb to the second level was his responsibility as much as was the center. IOW, he had to occupy two OL on every play rather than penetrate. From that Greg extrapolated strength rather than power, and I think that was a false extrapolation. When, based on down and distance, he could ignore the run, he penetrated just fine.

@Original Sin has said that Vea is a better pass rusher than Davis and, right now, I have to agree. All the same, I think he will be every bit as good as Vea in a year or two. And he’s just faster.

However, we could draft Jones a bit later and, if anything, he is quicker than either of those two. My preference is to draft Davis and be done with it.

And let it be said that Greg is far more knowledgeable than I, spends much more time at his craft, and is probably right and I wrong. Still, that’s my opinion.

I wonder how "in the know" Simms is in NFL circles and how his past NFL mock drafts panned out.

Here's to hoping he's really, really out of touch and terrible at these things.

I feel like Wyatt is getting undervalued. Yeah with age and position value I don't love him for us at 15/18 but he's still a very good DT.

11 Howies out of 10. 

The biggest problem, in Howies eyes, will probably be the 2nd last in the league in sacks in 2021.  Redick adds a lot to that and Graham coming back (who knows how much he has in the tank).  I say it will be a trade up for Johnson or Thibodeaux or Karlaftis (either at 15 or 18).

 Typical of Chris Simms, he doesn’t believe any GM that ate lead paint chips as a kid would pass on Stingley for Mcduffie, much less one as idiotic as Howie. 
 

Here's the players I believe will be off the board before #15 where the Eagles are slotted to pick:

 

QB -- Pickett, Willis

OL -- Neal, Ekwonwu, Cross

DE -- Hutchinson, Thibodeaux, Johnson, Walker

DT -- Davis

WR -- Williams

CB -- Gardner, Stingley

S -- Hamilton

 

That would leave the Eagles with a choice of Karlaftis, Lloyd, Green, Corral, Booth, Olave, Wilson, Burks, Wyatt in the 15-18 range
