Tony Pauline reiterates that we're trying to trade up. Thinks it would be for Jameson Williams inside the top 10. Saints are in that market too.

The growing sense in the NFL is that there will be a run on WRs in the top 12 picks.

Makes sense that Howie is looking to trade up for the one he wants.

I like Williams but don't like trading up inside top 10. That would be at least a 2nd round pick, if not 18.

20 for now. I said, "he’s absolutely a first rounder.” And that "I can’t see him getting past PIT if Pickett is gone.” Your original reply alluded more towards you not thinking he’s a first rounder at all. So the bet should be first round or not in my opinion. Pit could trade up for Pickett, I’m not saying my crystal ball is that clear, lol. But I do stand by my assertion that he’s absolutely a first rounder.

Ehh im guessing Lowie is gonna load the offense and adress defense 3rd rd and beyond.

Id take walker over dean.

Muma too

Will be pissed if they trade up for a WR.

Especially if they have to trade away Pick 51.

2nd round is the sweet spot this year.

Yeah, I really like Williams, but I don't really want to trade up for anything more than one of our 3s. It could end up being a great move though. Jameson has superstar potential.

You are such an optimist.  They will be back... on the day after.

Yup and possibly troy Anderson from Montana st who I think is a heckuva LB prospect

I just don't like dean's size limitations.

Teams are desperately trying to trade out of the top-10 and getting no bites. Enter Howie.

Didn't you read his comments from the PC last week... he wanted to be a trend setter and if you follow the other teams, you are already behind.  But... if you set the trend, then you are doing it right... or something like that.

If Thibodeaux fell to 8 or 9, I don't think I'd have the self-control to resist trading up for him.

The closer the draft gets, the closer Howie gets to trading up for Thibodeaux.  And frankly I think it is the right move.  The whole philosophy is win on the lines and 2nd to last in the league doesn't scream pass rush.  He's moving up at 15.  18 is a move down if he can for WR.  2nd round talent at secondary.  Rest fill in

I don’t want Lloyd or Dean. My preference if they take one in R2 is Muma. I think if anything they’re looking to upgrade Edwards. He’s been a good player but I don’t see a potential superstar there. So if it’s a MLB with size and they don’t want to spend R2 capital on it, I’d look at Brandon Smith in R3. Smith is an insane athlete and could very well go R2, but he is a little raw which could make him available at 83.  My gut feeling though is still no LB on days 1 or 2. Darrian Beavers is not that great in coverage but he’d be an upgrade at MLB over Edwards as well and should be available in R4.

This draft has very few high ceiling players, if you can get one through a small trade up, do it.

This is the most unsettled draft class in recent memory as far as slotting. I’m psyched and ready for craziness on Thursday night!

I can’t remember a draft that had so many older prospects , quite a few 24 year olds

Look at Tay Gowan.  Both you and I liked him at UCF from his 2019 play. Real good reaction and quickness on pass defended and a nice burst with good speed and excellent quickness.  But after being out in 2020 because of Covid, he took the gamble and came out last year and slid in the draft.  If he had waited and played in 2021, like some of these 24 year olds did, he would be in the draft this year.  He is 24 this year.  Vincent did the same and is 23.  Another year and his position would be a bit clearer. (I thought he had the best potential at nickel in last year’s draft and really like him as a FS prospect too.  A bit small but doesn’t play that way).  2020 changed things a lot and players that might have come out as juniors with a redshirt year stayed in school in greater droves. Remember how many players we were looking at between the end of the season and declaring for the draft deadline and disappointed they returned to school?  Hurt some, helped some.

I 1000% agree that Vincent should be at S. Grab a McKinley or Woods in R4-R5 and you have your two high combo without a ton of investment.

I also think Gowan has a good shot at CB2 long term.

Only if he gets anyone to buy it.  Snake oil salesman is only as good as his last sale.

Well, I hope you are ready for the medicine show in two, three, four days because there will be Howie on the wagon pitching the snake oil (his draft choices) like the best snake oil salesman in the old west.

That is actually good.  Lowers the price of trading up.

Oh.. I can't wait.  Every one of these guys are the guy they couldn't believe was still there and they had him rated at least a round higher than they got him.  Until they bust, and then it was someone else's fault... and their real targets were taken just before their pick.

Rd 1 - hill, wlliams
