Karlaftis at 18 is not a bad pick. I think he’ll be rare in that he’s more productive in the pros than college. I also like that he’s only 21. After the top 12-15 guys, the rest is more of a crapshoot than usual. Could also mean Pickens.

I doubt Howie has targeted any position, the only position where he won't be picking in the 1st rd are QB and OT.

But he has 10 picks, plus teams inquiring about Dillard and Herbig, so he's going to pick up a lot of players.

Most positions a rookie is going to backup for half the season, so only one or two might start in 2022 - so you can live with a 4th rd DT as your 4th DT, same at DE, LB, etc. Safety would probably be the easiest to upgrade, CB if they're not high on McPhearson, WR over Watkins b/c rookies can make an impact there - otherwise for 2022 it's not that big of a deal.

Which means it makes more sense to go BPA on the first two days and walk away with 4 of 5 that have a high probability of starting in 2023, rather than reach to fill a need. You can always trade a veteran pushed off the roster if need be. Or let a few walk, take their money and sign a FA or two to fill those holes in 2023.

If Howie targets someone in the 10-12 area, it won't be b/c they're a WR or DL, it'll be because on their board that player is in their 1st tier and valued as a top 8 pick, so worth giving up a 3rd to move up. Which is why all these phone calls are probably predicated on a player being there when that pick comes up - both for the trading team (if the player they want is gone, they'll trade down) and for Howie (he's trading up for a specific player(s)).

Look at his production in the SEC with all of the focus of opposing D.  The size and YAC potential is something sorely lacking.  I think his speed is underrated.  I mean watch the clip where he ran away from the entire ALABAMA defense.

The only WRs I’m interested in on day 1-2 are Williams, Wilson, Burks, Pierce, Pickens…and I would NOT trade up for Williams or Wilson.

Seems like a good fit considering we run zone more than any other team in the league. If they don’t take a CB in R1, they should just wait for Alontae Taylor. McDuffie would not be my choice, but he is IMO the best zone corner in the draft.

I’ve seen a couple of people compare skyler moore to cooper kupp. But otherwise hardly ever see the comp where it’s comping a white player to a black player and vice versa. Meaning Daniel Jeremiah, Mike mayock, lance zurlien join the racist bracket next year.

Yes. Plans like that are already in place now he said. I buy that you don’t want to haggle on draft day and it’s just a premade deal executed. But I think some chaos can happen too.
