It is clear they prioritized significantly upgrading WR. so either it was going to be them packaging to move up from 18 (so 18+, or settling for whichever unknown fell to 18, vs adding a 3rd to the 18 to once and for all solve the WR issue for the next 4+ years.

I’ll sacrifice the 3rd for that certainty at a position that has vexed us for how many years now???

as for cap impact, yeah, that stings a bit but your QB is going to be cheap for a few more years so I think it can still work.

But doesnt that speak to poor prioritization? Also after saying they didn’t want to follow the trend they did exactly that and spent a ton on a wr…

now the davis pick makes me winder if they dont extend hargrave and take some cap savings at Dt the next few years

Yep.  See, when you agree with me....you're smart.

Davis was on the sideline, late in the Natty.  We're gonna love him.  There is no doubt.  Word is that he is a great young man and a leader.  He's just not a great fit.  The Eagles need to have a nutritionist living with him.....like today!  Because his weight fluctuations have been an issue.

Not when he showed up to the combine in that kind of shape. He already had a nutritionist. Its like you dont even research these kids

if you want to be miserable about everything at least be informed

You'd have to think that we'll be seeing much more of the pass happy offense from early last year again. The question is, how long is Hurts leash? If he struggles the first, 4 games lets say, does he get yanked and it's Minshew time?

I killed a bottle of full proof bourbon and passed out lol. Needed to sleep on it to decide what i think. I try to look at the draft as a whole.

I expect trade backs tonight to try and recoup picks

love the davis pick. Unicorn you have to take

brown far too costly. Like the player but a poor decision to me from an organizational perspective when we lack a passer

Semantic, but we have a passer. He just hasn't proven himself very good over his first 2 years.

In a passing league, I’m not sure how you don’t prioritize offensive weapons.

admittedly though, I’d feel a whole lot better if we had what I thought was a competent QB. but if it takes checking the WR box a year early to prove that one either way, I can deal.

no more blaming anyone other than Hurts if it doesn’t come together this year.

he keeps saying all the same stuff I said. He allows you to commit more to coverage, helping us improve there. And he improves the run D immensely all by himself.

It is unbelievable that this guy was still available at pick 13. He is a foundational piece of the defense, day 1. We will need to wait and see just how good he can become before I can say a generational player, but he is a foundational piece of the defense and that potential is there. Incredible pick.

Hes 21. Athletic as hell. It cant be that hard to develop a few pass rush moves. But that may not be the goal here anyway. It looks like we are heading towards the way Georgia played defense. Stop the run with 4-5 guys and let the rest cover. Got the fast coverage backer in White, like Dean. Got the massive NT. Got the other good run playing DLs, just like Trayvon Walker didnt have big sack production. Thats how Sweat is being deployed. That is the defense we are trying to run.

I’d think about trading Sanders for a 3rd. Shouldn’t sign rb’s to second contracts and this is his contract year. Gainwell can step up and draft another rb in the 6th-7th round.

Eagles fans- "Don't reach Howie go bpa"

Also Eagles fans- wah why did we draft a d.t. when Cox is still here

Seriously guys Cox is Fing old and Howie just shored up our d-line for the future and got us a hell of a w.r. we shouldn't be ****ing about it

I like Davis.  I had Davis as the pick ahead of the draft.  Nothing about last night surprised me.  What does bother me is the continuing investment at DT rather than DE.  It is confusing.  I know that they want to be different... but is different working?

The Eagles have been over investing at DT for decades.

Don’t forget about Reddick, if we are running with more 3-man fronts he’s going to be the $ pass rusher from that SAM spot.

I really enjoy reading stuff like this. It’s nice to see comments from people (anonymous or not) who can go beyond the surface with their analysis.

people just dont understand the scheme. They think Gannon sucked, and they dont understand the entire impact of this massive freak DT because theyve read over and over again from "Experts" with draft websites that he isnt a pass rusher.

Anyone know what percentage of snaps AJ Brown took from outside vs slot?

I don’t so asking

And QB’s

https://www.playerprofiler.com/nfl/a-j-brown/

about 7% as a rookie, 11% in year 2 and close to 20% last year.

Davis is a freak athlete. There’s no reason to overthink why the Eagles took him. 6’6 340 4.78 40.

I’m assuming the Eagles will prefer to trade back at one of their picks today to try and pick up another day 3 pick or two.

Wish list for #51 in no particular order:

Brisker

Booth

Dean

Ojabo

Mafe

Bonnito

It worked in 2017. Collapse that pocket baby. That said the draft isn't over is it?

Pretty much this.

Not only is Jordan Davis a "plug and play" player as a DT/Run stopper - he also has the physical skills/raw talent/size to potentially become the Jordan Mailata of our defensive line.  (Dominant).

Keep in mind we are adding a double digit sack artist to our D in Reddick.

Having a guy like Davis just gives him easy looks to get home.

Expect Sweat to get the sack bump as well.

Hopeful but not sure how they make it to our pick.

So refreshing to not have to read the gut feelings about Pickett or Carson Strong 🤣🤣

So Howie said Davis was too 10 on their board. Assuming he was 10th, who went ahead of pick Davis that was lower on the Eagles board?

Olave for sure. London? Williams?

London

Need a run on QBs and WRs to happen, unlikely but possible.

Davis put on a show at the combine no doubt, but there is a difference of getting in shape for a 20 min workout of running and jumping drills, and getting in game shape and being able to play the majority of snaps. I dont want to see the 13th pick consistently on the sideline later in games, and I dont want just a run stuffer at 13. Seth Joyner was talking about it and saying he needs to shed even more weight and actually get in game shape. These are just the concerns fans are having with the pick. Its a wait and see, which is why people arent as excited as other fans might be and thats OK.

Would love to come out of these next 2 rounds with Brisker and one of Muma/Andersen
