If you had to divvy up shares out of 100 for the Eagles QB situation in 2023 how would you break it down based on the following possible outcomes.

1. Jalen Hurts is still the QB

2. A draft pick in 2023 draft is the QB

3. A veteran either via trade or free agency is the QB

4. Carson Strong or Minshew are the QB

Carson Strong with a healthy knee who can maneuver better is the best QB on this team since McNabb. Fight me.

Damn right.

Booth was actually the 2nd best CB at Clemson. Speaking it into existence.

Eagles often take too long to move on from guys (Mills, Agholor) so I worry Hurts will be another.  They’re not going with a mid-tier veteran QB with a price tag — they’ve shown no interest at all in Jimmy G or Mayfield, etc.  Minshew is not the future, and Strong would take 2+ years to be given the keys even if his leg checks out.

A 1st round pick next season makes too much sense.  Cost controlled and a fresh start.

This is pretty close for me.

I just think Hurts is more likely 45% based on say, he improves 10% on his overall performance and perhaps 10% based on the team getting it done.

I just don't believe in a rookie starter so I weighted Strong over that.

So I am at

45%

35%

5%

15%

Mistresses only bring trouble...

Especially if they are your wife's friend.

Only if she has big hoots. Then it's worth the trouble that follows.

I would even go higher with #1. There’s a strong possibility that even if we do draft a QB next year, Hurts will be the Doug Pederson/JimmyG/NYG Kurt Warner type bridge starter for a year, particularly if Jalen doesn’t crap the bed in 2022 and we have a decent year to build off of.

2. 35

4. Neither are on the team for that. We’ll double down on #3 if it ever gets to this point

Should it be concerning how much Vrabel and seemingly all of the Titans FO loved Brown but were only willing to give him a max deal of $16M APY?

1) Look at their cap. It's worse than ours.
2) They want to run the ball. We want to be a passing team. It doesn't make sense to pay a WR 20+M / year and not throw it. That's why Hurts better produce or he's gone.

Pretty cool perspective. He sure made a lot of moves. Feels like we really turned from: Let‘s make a lot of picks because analytics say that‘s how you have success to: Let‘s trade for the guys we really want.

There‘s good points for both approaches. Given the nature of the draft making a ton of picks seems smart. Then again I rather come out if the drafts with Smith and Davis.

Here‘s more from him in his words.

I'm not going to say that all is forgiven for Howie's failures of the recent past... but, this draft I think went a long way to helping this team.   The secondary still sucks, the QB situation is still far from ideal.  That's a problem in a passing league.  But, I like the direction I am seeing in the front 7, if not the secondary.  I like that Reagor seems to be getting fazed out.   No reason for him to be on the field.  Brown, Smith, Watkins, Paschal... no reason to see Reagor on the field with the offense.  Adding Covey means that they have a legitimate PR option.   So that's nice.

I would have liked to see some more RB talent added.  I would have liked to see some secondary help.  But, it can't all be done in one offseason.  And they didn't dip into any future picks to get these players.  And I think everyone knows my opinion of the UDFA class.

One guy I haven't talked about is Kennedy Brooks, who is an interesting guy.  I hadn't looked at him leading up to the draft, but he might be a Jordan Howard type runner.  Nothing flashy, but effective.  I've got no issue with low investment RBs, the NFL has shown repeatedly that if the RB has decent vision, and the OL can create the holes, lots of RBs can have success.  And I trust the OL to make holes.  I also expect that Brooks could push to be the #2 this year.  From Lance Zierlein...

I love to see the durability piece.  But, we do see the theme with Nick and guys who 'love ball'.

I think you have to be willing to use either strategy based on where your team is in its lifecycle. Ravens think they can contend. We are rebuilding which means we need the cornerstones.

Trading for AJ Brown gives Hurts the weapon, along with Smith and others, to prove himself this season.  Signing Strong with a rich guaranty is to hedge for the future at QB.  Strong has time to get healthy and learn the system.  If Hurts can't get it done this season, Strong is ready to step in and take over.  Hurts should hear the footsteps now.  Let's see how he reacts to that.

Think Strong is guaranteed a roster spot as a developmental player regardless of how he looks in camp? Also considering Minshew is a FA after 2022.

Of course he is. The UDFA contract is for three years. They can be patient and monitor the knee. And he can hold the clipboard and learn the system. It's a perfect situation for him.

BTW, @RememberTheKoy, Strong is getting the highest pay of any UDFA this year and your guy is the 53rd highest paid QB in the NFL. Just saying.

It‘s about the right opportunities too.

There have to be the right cornerstones to get. Now I‘d say Smith and Davis were worth trading up two spots for. Yes I know technically we traded down before Smith.

I‘m just happy our GM is making all these moves. Plenty of other fanbases should envy us.

I agree with your first point, Hurts is going to have to be quite a bit worse than Wentz in 2020 to be replaced. Why do you think, if Strong's leg checks out, it would take 2+ years for him to be ready to be QB1?
