"An option bonus is similar to a roster bonus. However, rather than receiving money for remaining on a team on a certain date, the team has the "option” to pay the bonus or terminate the player's contract. When an option bonus is exercised, it is subject to probation like a signing bonus.”

@downundermike

According to Spotrac, only < $6 million is an option bonus.

Claims are claims are claims.

Doesnt matter if a squirrel eats threw your wiring harness or a car gets stolen. It'll affect your rate.

The way they get around the rules and regulations you mention is they put you in a different risk category. Basically saying it happened once, it'll happen again. It becomes a multiplier within your rate and it'll rise.  Side note, another way around the R&R's you mentioned is to just straight non-renewal you, which will be noted with a comp claim and cause higher rates when you shop.

OMG, as much as everybody loves a vigorous debate on the very intriguing subjects of insurance rates and the penal system, why don't you take it to CVON?

I'm pretty sure none of those laws are the reason those "good" people that Ute was talking about are in jail.

Good people that made poor choices, not " just good people.

Like I said I have a different out look on life than you, and it's a view that's been shaped by my personal experiences and one that is still growing and evolving, I dont have all the answers or even any really and I wouldn't presume to tell you how you should think or know how your life experiences have Shaked your views, it's my view that majority of people not just in jail but in life are good people who've made bad choices and everyone is redeemable from those mistakes through responsibility and accountability.

I'm more willing to give people second chances even third and fourth chances because I was keeping in mind as long as they are accountable and trying to do better, jail doesn't make people accountable or cause them to change, only people changing in jail are those that decide to change themselves.

More strict punishment hasn't shown to decrease crime or cause people to want to change.

sure, we can bet whatever you want. I'll get some dec pages of before and after premiums.

A singular comprehensive claim won't affect your rates. If it does, you should immediately switch insurance companies. If you have multiple comp claims, and especially over a short time, thus your FREQUENCY of claims has increased, then yes, you likely will see a rise.

A singular, at fault collision claim will jack your rates immediately.

Many of them define "good" people. Slaves, blacks, Indians, Japanese. The American prison population exploded as a consequence of the Volstead Act. I'll wager that well over half the blog would be subject to imprisonment under that law. Don't know about you in particular.

What's the Volstead Act?

Listened to Inside the Birds for the first time in a while. Seems other listeners complained to them about the same things that drove me nuts about the show; they seem to make more of an effort to not sound like pompous jackasses (they're not always successful though...).

Anyway, they were really down on Quez Watkins and adamant about investing a valuable resource (3rd rounder) in a TE2. Is this a popular opinion? We really putting the blame on Quez Watkins and Jack Stoll (and also ignoring the Eagles were terrible with arguably the best TE2 in football for the first part of 2021)? Is Jalen Hurts the new Carson Wentz where we "can't properly evaluate him" until he gets a year with a Pro Bowl squad?

I just watched the video all the way though, for the 3rd time.  He straight up says this contract was designed for a post June 1 2023 release, and he will have a dead cap hit in 2024 of 16 million.

That’s the first I’m hearing of anyone "down” on Quez.  Strange.

That one is true!!  I hit a deer going 75mph, totaled the car and my rates didn’t go up, not even after I told the cop that I would of hit 90, but the deer stopped me.

I was parked at a convenience store once waiting for the car next to me to back up til I got out of my car, and the lady backed up and hit the side if my car, she got out pretty sure all hopped up on meth and said how sorry she was and if we could exchange Insurance and I said no just go away and leave me alone.

I walked into the 7-11 and the clerk says that lady just ran into your and left so you need me to call the police?

I said no dont worry about it, it's no more than a scratch and if I report it all it will do is jack up my insurance more than it would cost to get it fixed, he shrugged and said true.

I bought my donuts and chocolate milk and my insurance stayed the same...

lol what?

I bet countries where you get your hands chopped off for shop lifting have lower shop lifting crimes than San Fran where you can do it with out getting in trouble at all

Fletcher Cox is a free agent next year. I wasn’t aware that they structured his deal this way. It further makes me think he will get traded at some point this offseason.

You should have checked the dead cap column.  There's a $40+M cap hit.  Depending on when they do it, how it is broken up.  Either way, it's a big hit.  Pre-June 1 - $40.9M dead hit in 2022.  Post- June 1 Trade $12.8M hit in 2022, and $28.1M in 2023.

That contract is an albatross.  Which is why the cap will remain an issue moving forward.  Howie still hasn't swallowed all the medicine for his bad decisions yet.

To try and win a Super Bowl 🤣

How about you start with a playoff game first?

Wouldn't surprise me if Dallas defense takes a step back.  Anytime New DC's come in and have success right away it usually doesn't last.  Their defense will probably be better than the last bunch of years but not as good as 2021.

Teams will study how to attack them this offseason.  I don't expect Diggs to have 10+ interceptions again or for them to lead the league in takeaways.

Yup he's a slippery little bugger.

Sound like "When the Phillies sent a limo to pickup Bonilla from the airport, it wasn’t supposed to take him to the NY Nets, but it did anyway.”

This is why I do not like spotrac.  They do not show the new bonus money spread over the life of the contract after a restructure.

If Cox is cut / traded pre June 1 this year, the future bonus money accelerates to this year, adding a cap hit of 34.927 million to his base salary of 1.12 million.

If he is post June 1 cut/traded, that 34.9 million is spread over two years.  Eagles would have 34.9 dead and 3 million saved over two years.  He is here next season.

Huh never knew that's what it was called.

Why Volstead, what's the significance of that name related to prohibition?

Well, I wasn’t technically correct. The 18th Amendment ushered in Prohibition. The Volstead Act was written to "carry out the intent” of the amendment.

I just looked it up: Volstead was the name of the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. He managed the legislation.
