can the board buy the Broncos?

Yes, but we'll need one or two more donations to our GoFundMe or a few more Amazon purchases first.

Once we have control of the team, I'll move them to Virginia Beach and all EMB members get luxury boxes.

Ridder's comp is a young Colin Kaepernick before everything went off the rails.  I tend to put weighting on the level of competition too -- although I really like Trey Lance as a prospect.

I think Kap had a better arm, but that’s much closer.
Competition does matter to a point it’s not like the SEC is known for NFL QB’s, I’m guessing the good ones out of high school, avoid that conference.., for good reason.

same. Id be totally fine with picking him with any one of our 1st round picks.

Totally agree, but I wanted to see something...

At 30 he had an MVP, 5 Pro Bowls, 27,000 yards and 197 touchdowns.

Thats more Touchdowns than Aikman, More yards than Bradshaw

Makes sense for Aikman, he was a crappy Fantasy football QB because of Emmitt.

If the team doesn't get re-named as the TATers, I am pulling out of the investment.

Aikman did not deserve to get in the HOF.  He was a slightly above average QB on great teams.

:offtopic:

CNBC just had a piece on Metaverse "real” estate sales topping $501 million.  Crypto currency and virtual "land”.  The pragmatist in me can’t help but think this is nonsense.

Not with an extra 2 games a year.  Mahomes could have 7-8 seasons of 5,000+ yards by the time he's 35 while Brady only did it twice in his career.

Brady only had 3 seasons of 40 TD's or more, thats basically 2 a game in an 18 game schedule for Mahomes.

and again, thnk about what was Pass Interference and roughing the QB in 2007, 2015, 2020, and just imagine what its going to be in 2030 when Mahomes is 35.

Slice it anyway you want , Brady’s accomplishments won’t be touched

How played real talent, Ridder did not.

Howell had  back to back to back great years but it he didnt have a monster year this year people are down on him.

Sam Howell is a better Baker Mayfield. Riddle is a worse Johnny football.

I stand by my statement

Maybe Riddle is. Ridder however, is not.

Howell (6-7 record) 3,056 yds/24 TDs/9 INTs/828 rush yds/11 TDs:

Lost to VA Tech

Beat GA State

Beat VA

Lost to GA Tech

Beat Duke

Lost to FL State

Beat Miami

Lost to Notre Dame

Beat Wake Forest (15)

Lost to Pitt

Beat Wofford

Lost to NC State

Lost to SC

Ridder (13-1 record) 3,334 yds/30 TDs/8 INTs/355 rush yds/6 TDs:

Beat Miami OH

Beat Murray State

Beat Indiana

Beat Notre Dame (8)

Beat Temple

Beat UCF

Beat Navy

Beat Tulane

Beat Tulsa

Beat USF

Beat SMU

Beat E Carolina

Beat Houston (17)

Lost to freaking Alabama

You're also comparing a 6'0" guy to a 6'3" guy. They both have their strengths and weaknesses for sure and aren't miles apart by any stretch but for me, I'll take Ridder. Far more potential there for a higher ceiling than Howell in my opinion. That being said, Strong is my favorite prospect.

If Mahomes averaged 5,100 yards over the next 8 seasons he would still be about 24,000 yards short of Brady.

Virginia Beach Taters does kind of roll off the tongue.

But I think all three of us agree on not mortgaging the future on an older QB because the team isn’t that close and I suspect we all agree that we don’t see the QB the team should think is the one they can build into the one they desire in the draft.  I worry about desperate because, like it or not, this year we are stuck with Howie and desperate Howie does stupid things in trying to acquire players.  I do expect them to perform due diligence on all the QBs in the draft and available in free agency.  But I expect that same level of attention for every position on the team.

I agree with the bolded.  But the next bit... I am zeroing in on Carson Strong pretty hard.  If the checks out, I would give serious consideration to drafting him in Round 1.  If it works out, great... if not, well, Howie's draft track record in the teens sucks anyway. So I'd rather take a chance on a potential franchise changing player than just some JAG (like Barnett) or worse (like Reagor).

Brady finished with 84,520 regular season passing yards, with 624 TDs.

Mahomes currently has 18,991 and 151.

To catch Brady, he'd need to get 65,529 yards and 473 TDs.

Mahomes currently averages 4,677 yards and 38 TDs per year (Didn't count any of his rookie stats, though some may argue he's still an unproven rookie). Based on those numbers, he'd need about 14 years of that sustained average to pass Brady.

Certainly not impossible by any means, but far from a certainty, IMO.

You've got it all wrong.

Step 1: defend the pick under the notion that drafting backup QB's in round 2 is the new cutting edge thing to do to save $10m against the cap annually.

Step 2: defend Hurts as the starter because, although terrible, he's cheap and the GM now has the opportunity to build a stacked roster (still waiting on that part).

Step 3: Move on from Hurts after he fails, pin the pick on Doug, and say that Howie was right about him when he doesn't catch on with another team.

Brilliant.

Only if you change your name to Howie.

Yes. I want to be in charge of the cheerleaders.

I find myself in all the mocks I do taking Strong at 19. I think the value there is right, and it's worth the "risk" at that point, especially with two other firsts. If we only had one first rounder, I'd be far more hesitant.

North Carolina would be an 11-12 win team if they had Cinnci's schedule

Only common opponent...Ridder won, Howell didn't.

Only if I can be the guy that gives you the WTF hand gestures on camera when you don't take my guy.

You have to draft a QB in 2021, but Lawrence is gone, who are you taking?    Personally I didn’t like Wilson or Jones so that leaves Lance or Fields for me and I take Lance.
You can’t teach his athleticism, size, and his compact throwing motion, he throws like Chase Utley swings a bat.

We can have a community draft!!! Someone tallies the votes for the player at each pick. Bet it's better than Howie's picks...

If his knee checks out, I'm really hoping he's the pick. Siri has plenty of experience with statue QBs. Luck, Brissett, Rivers... And the kid has an incredible arm. Caveat is I want them to get his TE Cole Turner, we need a 2nd TE anyway.
