He'd kill the Basically a Rookie Bowl

He didn’t do well at the Senior Bowl he did play in, but it was with a heavy heart because he had 2 logos on his helmet that was specially made for him.  Heavy Heart, bone chips in his ankle, and he’s still a competitor.
Find me another rookie with those issues that gets his team into the playoffs, as the coveted 7th seed!!!

Alright...we've debated what the Eagles should do at QB.  Let's add a unique layer.  Forget what they should do at qb, what should they do with the rest of the roster and draft given each direction they might take at QB?

Rodgers/Wilson/Watson: Sign DJ Chark.  That gives us a WR corps that these QB's would actually envy.  We need an immediate upgrade at WR for win-now QB's.  With any of these QBs, we presumably would not have much draft capital left for 2022.  What we do have, should go best defensive player available.

Hurts: Roll draft capital into 2023.  As much as possible.  At a minimum, we'd need two 1's and two 2's for 2023.  Draft best defensive player or best OL available with the premium picks we do use.  Then drink heavily on Sundays.

Drafting a QB: All QB's in this draft, love them or hate them, should watch and learn for a minimum half of 2022, if not all of it.  Trade Hurts for whatever we can get.  Start Minshew, not because he's a better option than Hurts, but because he'll run a more pro-style offense for our rookie draft pick to transition into.  This scenario presumably still leaves us with 2 first round picks.  Draft BPA without forcing anything on defense.  The rookie QB will have a learning curve, so we are in no rush.  Grab a WR for him to grow with, stack up the OL, or finally address defense.  Any option works.  BPA straight through with the other picks.

I think you are really putting up 6 options.

1 -Trade 3 of 4 top 50 picks for a QB - Wilson is the only QB that would justify that kind of trade.  Certainly, if you don't have the moral or character concerns about Watson, his play would justify this type of trade. I don't think this would make sense for Rodgers.

2- Trade 2 of 4 top 50 picks for a QB-  This is good value for Wilson. Watson still has the same character defects that I find unappealing for him to be a choice.  Rodgers probably makes sense at this value.

3- Trade 1 of 4 top 50 picks for a QB  - The team would have to make this trade for either of the 3.  It's a no brainer.

4 - It Hurts but roll with it.  - Such a meh feeling heading into next season.  Maybe I convince myself he's improved with a couple of highlights from training camp.  Maybe I like the draft enough that I think it was probably better than the alternative.

5. Pick the best QB where he lands - I am just not sold that this does anything other than delay the process by another 2+ seasons.  If they're convinced, I get it but I don't like the options that much.

6. Trade using multiple top 50 picks for QB1 - Same as above but now we don't even add any decent talent at any other position.  What is the team doing at DE? Oh bringing back Barnett on a one year "prove it" deal.  Please no, no no.

Yeah, that's a nickname location.  Not a mascot team name or mascot.

Most team names are talked about in a plural sense.  That would be weird.

There’s teams without plural like heat, magic, jazz, Red Sox, white sox, avalanche, thunder. That doesn’t bother me as much. The district you could make the mascot whatever you really wanted associated with DC. The nationals have multiple presidents they use for the races at the game. Not saying it’s not weird. Still think it’s a million times better than the commanders

Nike and the "Commanders" took 24 months to come up with that name and abomination of a uniform.  Fan changed the name to Warriors and edited a throwback.

No photo description available.

I don't they could call themselves the Warriors because of Golden State.

They could have used that same logo and called themselves the Washington Worms.  😶

I think the offer for Wilson/Watson should be #15, #83, and a 2023 first round pick.  If you get outbid then let someone else overpay.  Two 1sts and a 3rd is plenty for a QB who's 33 -- or on probation

Interesting

My first thought was other former players wanting to get into coaching (he's been everywhere, so he should have a vast network of ex-teammates).  On more consideration he'd probably have to have a list of veteran coaches who aren't currently coordinators, or else he'd be dismissed pretty quickly.

Can't imagine they would entertain hiring him with other novice coaches -- it IS the Texans, though.

What team has McCown not played for?  He probably knows multiple more coaches than either Gannon or Flores.

Kafka can call the plays, but Daboll will undoubtedly develop scheme and philosophy.  Hard to imagine they hired him just for his looks.

Calling plays on Sunday is a little overrated in my view. The majority of that process is well thought out during the week. Any tinkering can be done over the headset on game-day anyway.

Who's that one troll who kept saying Hurts had good arm talent, because he was able to throw the ball 60+?

I saw this excerpt when reading up on Willis.

An exciting athlete with elite arm talent

However, arm talent is more than simply being able to heave the ball 60+ yards. Here, Willis exudes elite capability. He creates impressive velocity with minimal effort. Need a 30-plus-yard strike into a tight window? Willis is your man.

Do you only wear one sock?  LOL  The other ones aren't locations.  Naming a mascot after a location or a nickname for a location is bizzare.  Did you go out in the dessert or something?

Who cares if it’s a location or never been done. Even more of a reason to do it no one else has ever done so. How Washington fans gravitate towards wizards the district merchandise it’s an easy money maker, likely an easier sell and clearly the fans like using the district. Make them the Washington districts.

again never said it wasn’t weird. However it’s still way better than commanders and frankly even the wizards which is still eh name

I would value the future 1st as the 2nd this year.  I think that puts those trades in the 2nd category.  I don't think a first, 2nd and 3rd this year is overpaying this year.  I think 2 firsts and a third would still be good for Wilson. That was the deal for Stafford.  Maybe throw in Hurts as well.    I think the cost of Wilson and Watson are close because of the off field issues.  I don't like them trading for Watson at all.

We'll have to agree to disagree.  Washington District is worse than Football Team.  And Football Team is much worse than Commanders I think.

That's like calling the Carolina Hurricanes the Carolina Triangle....New York Yankees....the New York Bronx.

No...

I can't remember.

Eh i rather have the Washington football team as to the commanders.

I am talking about it from a legal standpoint but that's the only thing that matters from the perspective of the lawsuit. Please go back and read my response.  If Flores was treated like everyone who interviewed after Daboll, then I do not think there is an issue.  If Flores was treated differently than everyone that interviewed after Daboll, then there is an issue.  A discrimination claim does not need a specific intent.  I am not sure how it will play out because I do not know what the numbers look like but I can say Flores doesn't need some smoking gun.  While your summary of the NFL hiring process is accurate, it does not mean that the hiring process isn't racially discriminatory under current law if there is a disparate impact based on race.

This is the EEOC's summary of the law with regard to potential claims that I think would potentially fit this category:

The maintenance of a neutral employment policy or practice which perpetuates past discrimination may also violate Title VII.  For example, if respondent previously refused to hire Blacks for certain job categories and presently hires most of its employees for those jobs through word-of-mouth recruitment by current employees, the policy may perpetuate the respondent's past discriminatory hiring practices.  Commission Decision No. 75-281, CCH Employment Practices Guide ¶ 6455; Commission Decision No. 71-359, CCH EEOC Decisions (1973) ¶ 6172. https://www.eeoc.gov/laws/guidance/cm-604-theories-discrimination

You are right in that.  I would assume that the Giants would be smart enough to keep up appearances.  But, maybe I am giving them too much credit.

And as for the Broncos thing... I just have a REALLY hard time believing that they'd show up late or drunk, let alone both.

Maybe I am only seeing what I want to see though.  Maybe things are much worse than I imagine.

I think the NFL has a nearly unprecedented diversity problem.

And no, I'm not talking about the color of anyone's skin.  I'm talking about how many ways you can skin the SB winning cat.

Despite the fact that these have been incredibly entertaining playoffs, the model for success in this league is uniform and really hasn't changed for years now.  You either have a hyper-elite total aerial superiority offense, or you have a lot of luck, a well-rounded team, and an offense that very closely approximates what I just mentioned for option 1.

If you go back far enough, you could build around a big, physical, punishing defense.  You could build around a relentless pass rush or even a lock-down secondary.  You could get a road-grating OL and build around a RB.  Of course, building around a franchise QB and top-notch WRs was always an option too...although not always the best one.

I think it's time to shake up the competitive landscape to see how teams react.  Do something to equal the playing field with defenses and to incentivize a physical running game over 50 throws per game.
