Oh boy.  I'm glad he wants and desires to be elite...doesn't mean he will come anywhere close to it.

I think he thinks he has a chance.

You all should enjoy this spring/summer and look forward to next year.

For the first time in a while, we have a QB that truly wants/desires to be an elite QB. The last time we had a QB with that desire, we won a SB. The time previous to that, we went to 4 straight championship games.

Just pray for his health.

If only that were all it takes. He lacks the Ability, no matter his desire. Just like I lack the abilkity to run sub 4.4 he lacks the ability to process and make quick decisiosn - which is why he is always late throwing the ball, when he does make a read. Mostly he is a 1 read and bail QB. Thats fine for College, it wont get you far in the NFL.

And no he has not progressed in this area. He is exactly the same he was in college. It was part of his draft profile, and has not improved.

Still angry. Fair enough. Just enjoy this people. This is a fun time to be an Eagles fan again.

I don't think anyone is angry.  We all want an elite quarterback.  However, there's nothing fun watching your quarterback bail from a clean pocket as his WRs break open or miss completely wide open players because he can't get the ball there.

What’s up fellow athletes!?

The only thing Hurts supporters point to are empty platitudes. Until people can point to ACTUAL quarterback ABILITY, then it's not fun, it's not funny.

This is actually a very critical off season for us. Loaded with draft capital, we need to have a really good off season. If we have an offseason anything like 2018-2020, we're screwed. Last year was good, and there's some positives to be hopeful about. But the biggest issue being QB is a major one.

And if Howie bungles this draft, it could be the final nail in his coffin.

Which QB are you referring to?

Agreed.  Here you go @Thrive, clean pocket, could have stepped up.  Instead, rolls into pressure, forcing an elevated pass and interception.

I'm guessing Donovan but nothing about his time here tells me he ever had the desire and drive to be elite.  I remember the days of him coming in overweight and focusing on off the field stuff more than football.

He objectively improved year over year. That’s not in question.

He transformed himself from a one read QB this season into one that goes through his progressions consistently, which to me signaled that nobody (and I mean NOBODY) has any clue how good this young man can be.

People question his arm strength, which makes me laugh.

No, he did not.

He does not have an NFL arm, he proves it every week.

See bolded.

Yup..

Hang in the pocket a second longer... no need to escape...

and dump it over the DL for Howard and its an easy conversion.

If they go with Hurts this season, it's a good sign that Howie means what he says.

If they look for a veteran QB, it means he's back to "win now" mode, if they stick with Hurts, it means he's recognizes the team needs to infuse a lot more talent and he'll focus on the draft and the waiver wire, and not short-term fixes like 2016 (when he signed a bunch of 26-27 year old veterans, which worked for three years then hit their expiration date).

If you build the team, and Hurts doesn't work out, you have a better 1st rd pick to deal for a QB two years from now, so it's a "no lose" proposition, except for the few here who want to make the playoffs at the cost of building a legitimate SB contender - because that's what trading significant assets for a veteran QB signifies - and there is no QB in this draft that I'd trust to play as well as Hurts for at least two seasons - just look at most of the top 15 picks at QB the last five years.

Yes, I like this -- focus on the waiver wire.  There might be a better QB there too.

Nope, he said the last time we had one, we won a SB.  The time before that we went to 4 straight NFC CGs.

Ugh, if he stayed in the clean pocket, Howard comes completely uncovered past the first down marker. Easy throw. But naw, let's roll right, throw off our back foot into coverage. That'll work!

@Iggles_Phan beat me to it.

Mike I agree - he completely sucked on Sunday. No arguments from me.

I admire your faith in Hurts but I don't see it.  He showed nothing this year as far as improving as a passer.  If anything he regressed.  His best games were against crap teams and good teams exposed him.  That's nothing to get excited about or that tells me he's a guy to think is going to grow in year 3.

What if you invest in more WR and commit to Hurts for 2022 for the whole year and he doesn't show any growth.  That's going to hurt the growth of the WR and the team moving forward.

I don't think that's true even if isn't the answer.  Great WRs like DeVonta will be great due to their own skill and work ethic regardless of the QB. Poor QB play didn't hurt the development of guys like Fitzgerald, Hopkins, Andre Johnson, ect.

They've invested a 2nd round pick and now a season as starter into Hurts.  He helped get the team to the playoffs.  His teammates respond to him and respect him.  Unlike Wentz, every indication is that Hurts is very coach able and receptive to hard coaching.  That has a positive impact on the rest of the team.

If the Eagles path this offseason is to improve the rest of the team and go with Hurts in 2022 then I think that would be the wisest course to take.  If he doesnt continue to make significant leaps at QB then they don't take on any penalty if they want to move on from him and go in a different direction in 2023, but they will at least have a better team and a team that is a more desirable landing spot for a veteran QB heading into that 2023 offseason if Hurts flatlines and does not take a leap next year.

I hope they mean surrounding him with good players in defense cuz he could have Jerry rice randy moss and marshall faulk and if he can't get them the ball it doesn't matter

He had Watkins wide open for a TD on a deep post a clean pocket he bailed on and rolled out to dump a pass off to the RB opposite side of the field.

What's the point of surrounding him with better players if he won't or can't throw them the ball???

Neither team was throwing the ball down the field.  The wind was strong all game.
