I guess people just make things up.

See related: Hurts progress.

It’s one of the blog staples. One person says "I kinda don’t like the Harden trade” so that means the entire blog hates the Harden trade. One person says Jimmy G would have been a slight upgrade in the playoffs over Hurts so we’re all in agreement we need to trade all 3 firsts for Jimmy G.

For example we now all think Wilson is the best pocket passer in the league because @NCiggles said he’s effective in the pocket.

Speaking of Russell Wilson and page 666, he reminds me of a serial killer.  Everything is a little too calculated with him (his communication, his diet, his budget that he spends to take care of himself every year).  I wouldn't be surprised if he had a few people locked up in his basement.  That being said, I'd take him over Hurts if he had to throw left handed next season.

Look they probably needed killing and let the man be. He needs a way to unwind.

Once something is posted in the blog it’s canon, ex Wilson>>>>Brady from the pocket.

Some great responses on there

I'm sure there's a reason they are having a tiny parade on the USC campus rather than go to their home stadium.   Must be so that they can get anyone to show up.  The college kids will be there instead of class.  Beyond that... who is an LA Rams fan?

Karlaftis might have the highest floor outside of Hutchinson in the draft at DE. He is ultra-consistent and always brings his A game. His upside is questionable, how he tests at the combine will be very telling.

I would still rather go Walker or Johnson over him, and 50-50 with Ojabo.

I think consistency and not playing to his alleged athleticism is his problem personally.  Unless you're talking consistent in that he's on the field and he does stuff sometimes and will give you a half sack every other game.

Total receiving yards.  Production.

Hines Ward was a great WR in his time, probably the best blocking WR of his era, as well as a top receiver. Eagles traded out of that pick to take Whiting and Reese.

Point is not to take those 40 times too seriously, Kupp ran a 4.62.

These guys didn't "play faster," rather, a lot of fast guys play much slower, they have to slow down into their breaks, they can't track balls, they can't find the open areas in the zone, they look good in college where they can run by slower DBs and get schemed open against simpler defenses. Then they get to the NFL and can't shake a CB or run past a FS, and don't win jump balls. Or they can't track and catch deep balls (Hightower).

And 40 times don't really tell you how fast a guy is - is he a long strider who takes time to get up to top speed, giving the CB a chance to recover and catch him? Does he lack a second gear to take a DB by surprise (DeSean was great at that, he'd be running 4.5, the CB was stride for stride, then the afterburner would kick in and goodbye). Does he have any shake and bake?

A lot to unpack, and while I don't disagree with you remember Rice, TO and Fitz were more times than not the best athletes on the field with the ball in their hands.  Fitz not to the same degree, but if Rice or TO had an angle and 1 person to beat they weren't getting caught often.

If Wilison couldn't make the Seahawks a contender the last five years, what makes you think he can do so here, given all the holes on the current roster?

49-32, 10-6 average, 1-3 in the playoffs:  two WC losses, 1 Div loss, 2 PO misses. So we improve from 9-7 to 10-6.

Wilson isn't going to make this team into a legitimate SB contender.

The difference with the Rams is they were already a SB contender, Stafford was an incremental improvement.

I agree with the top portion.  Wilson adds a brain and a better arm to Hurt's play style.  I think he's incredibly overrated.

Bottom, Stafford is a monumental improvement over Goff.  You gotta take the bad with the good with Stafford.  If people like Farve are widely considered amongst the greatest, you can't discount his brain/arm/balls as a gun slinger type.

Has there been one poster saying we should get Jimmy G?

Apparently everyone

Team USA pissed that game away. Couldn't get one clear with an empty net or one good shot on a 5 on 3. And it had to be am ex Bruin who beat them in the shootout.

If the Eagles had the same talent, would they have been able to beat the Bucs with Jimmy G? What about Carr or with Wilson?

Maybe not, but Tampa confused Hurts and stopped him from being Run Around Guy and we got blown out. With zero ability to pass, we were doomed. Give us someone intelligent enough to play the position with SOME passing talent and our chances improve immensely.  Jimmy G,  Carr, and Wilson exceed those basic criterias, but so do most NFL QBs.

In summary, a real QB improves the whole team and makes everyone better.

Wilson currently has the 4th highest passer rating in NFL history, ahead of Drew Brees. When all is said and done, he will likely be in the top 10-15 range for completion percentage, passing yards, passing TDs, etc.

Now I'm not suggesting he comes here and wins us a Superbowl, given our roster and I don't personally want to trade for him. Having said that, the implication that he's only a minor upgrade from Hurts is laughable.

Would they have gotten a TD or something before garbage time? They still would lose that game 10/10 times. Losing the game in a different way still doesn't move the needle.

Regarding Wilson and his performance over the years. From 2012-2014 Wilson was 6-2 with a Super Bowl win and 2 Super Bowl appearances. From 2015-present, Wilson is 3-5 with his last playoff win being the 2019 game against the Eagles where Clowney took out Wentz. If you believe the Eagles would have won that game had Wentz not been taken out, Wilson's previous playoff win would have been from 2016 against the Lions. Yes, the Detroit Lions.

I think Wilson is way past his prime, and at this point in his career is not going to carry a team to the playoffs.

I don't think you understand the difference a decent qb can make and Hurts doesn't even hold the jock strap of any of those guys. Wilson can drop it on a dime deep still. Hurts can't hit a stationary bus after 20 yards

But if you're upgrading from Reagor, JJAW and Ward that's going to take more than a FA signing.

While not wishing to go there, there are only so many snaps to go around, esp with a QB that doesn't go through many reads and what the team needs, is not another rookie high draft pick at WR. The WR room needs leadership, it needs someone whose game is refined to provide an example to Watkins and Reagor of this is how I run a route, etc. Jarvis Landry going to Cleveland provided a leader for the young WRs to follow. Sometimes you gotta do it that way.

By all means, look lower down in the draft for someone to develop, but another 1st round pick on WR is just making other areas of the team 1 more year away of getting better.

I'm sure the FO would heartily disagree, but I'd rather go CB, DE, DT in round 1/2 over WR again.

Jimmy G is better than Hurts and it's not even close. Jimmy G may fetch a first rounder, definitely a 2nd rounder and we couldnt trade Hurts for some yellow legal pads at this point

Jimmy G is terrible. 49ers would be tripping over themselves if they could get a first for him. He was only traded for a 2nd to the 49ers and that was back when he was considered someone with some good potential.

The only reason to stop by this blog these days are to see some of the worst takes on QBs that you'll find on the internet.  An echo chamber of the uninformed.

If someone told me 100% the Eagles draft WR in the draft I’d prefer it be Round 3 or 4; someone a bit bigger to complement the smurfs we currently have.  Ezukanma, Justyn Ross, Pickens if he slides to Round 3, or Pierce from Cincinnati.  I agree with you, Round 1 isn’t where I’d make that pick.

Howie and Nick might see things a bit differently though.  Treylon Burks might be that big WR, Jameson Williams might be available at #19.

If they waste a first round pick on Drake London I may throw up.

As someone informed, where would you rank Hurts out of the 32 eligible NFL starting QBs, and where do you see his ceiling, using the same ranking criteria?

That room needs a veteran presence badly; it needs a colleague to tell Reagor to go hard all game, to stop rounding routes off etc rather than being a coach shouting down. Having someone in the room who has the credibility of production, is way more important than another young WR for me.  Plus, the D needs to get better - it's old in some places and talentless in others.  I can do with 1 year more of smurf WRs if that means the Eagles can draft an impact DE highly, or a young CB to learn opposite from Slay.

Bigger picture, WR is a draft position where I think the FO have to hold their nose and accept the smell. Esp if they trade at least 1 high pick for a QB.

Below is how I rank the starting QBs.  We will see how much he can advance, if at all in his 3rd year but I absolutely see him capable of moving up to just outside the top 10 if he does make a substantial leap.

1. Mahomes

2. Allen

3. Brady

4. Rodgers

5. Burrow

6. Herbert

7. Jackson

8. Wilson

9. Stafford

10. Prescott

11. Carr

12. Murray

13. Cousins

14. Tannehill

15. Wentz

16. Hurts

17. Mac Jones

18. Jimmy G

19. Mills

20. Ryan

21. Tua

22. Bridgewater

23. Mayfield

24. Heinicke

25. Daniel Jones

26. Golf

27. Fields

28. Lawrence

29. Wilson (Jets)

30. Siemien

31. Darnold

I still think Eagles would prefer Watson, but don't fool yourself, all Wilson has to do is give Lowie the nod. They will move Heaven and Earth if needed to get him here.

I would hope they wouldn’t at this point.  He’s in his mid 30s and a QB that needs his mobility.  He’s not 6’4 like Brady.  He doesn’t have 10 years left in this league.  4-5 at the most I’d guess.

Watson is the only QB age/talent-wise worth spending a lot of draft capital for (of the ones available).  But he comes with his own set of issues.

I’d rather they build the team and look for QB in the draft…even if that means waiting another year
