Something’s happening. Wilson went from 40-1 to 20-1 to 5-1 in two days.

I wonder how much betting sways this. +4000 is really good odds, and if he just stays in Seattle it's a push so you don't lose any money.

It's a cult thing. Not so much in here to be fair, but out in other places, the takes are so bad you think they are joking but they are dead serious.

Logic tells me Sirianni will tell Howie "we’ve gotten what we can out of Jalen; I customized an offensive scheme he could function in, but it’s not sustainable long-term.  He’s definitely not the guy we want to extend to be our franchise QB”.

The question becomes whether Howie tells Nick "we’ve got bigger needs” and the organization will address those first, and push at the QB position for another year because there is no viable alternative available.  This would seem unlikely for a variety of reasons:

— The Eagles are typically aggressive at the QB position, going back to the Bradford-Foles trade

— Hurts was not a first round pick.  In the NFL a first round drafted QB gets 4-5 years to show he’s NOT the guy, where QBs drafted outside the first round get much less rope, and even have to jump through hoops to get a contract extension.

— Sirianni was not here when Hurts was scouted, evaluated and drafted by the organization.  He inherited Hurts, so likely has no ties to him.

My guess is for the next two months we will see the Eagles turn every stone at the QB position and they will make a move if there is a trade or prospect that Sirianni signs off on.

So I think I've settled on my favorite draft strategy: small trade up in the first to nab Gardner, big trade down from mid first to early 2nd to get a 2023 1st, best EDGE available with the remaining first round pick.

After that grab the best LB, S, DTs you can get while sprinkling in a few offensive players when you can.

Would have liked a S at the Hall pick them Winfrey at the Mitchell pick but had to take what the board gave. Limited myself to 2 trades to keep it somewhat realistic.

He would be a reach for us because he’s a DE and it’s a need.  He is not a fit for us.  Is he slotted to go late first round?  Sure.  But if we draft him, simple because he’s a DE, it’s a reach.  Not a fan in the 1st.

Big, not overly athletic or fast DE.  Put 10lbs on him and he’s a good 3-4 DE.

It does.  See my other post.  Thanks for trying to coach me though.

Don't submit to group think!

That is curious.

Cram it.

They would be for the Eagles.  And Karlaftis is a high 2nd round talent.  Period.  I don’t care what the mocks say.  If he’s gone by 25 I’ll eat my shoe.

If you would be happy with us wasting a top 20 pick on a center then you need to have your heads examined.  That would be terrible reach for us.  He’ll slide too.

You don't understand the theory of "reach" in a draft.

Drafting Lindstrom in the 1st would be a reach.  Drafting Linderbaum would be a poor use of resources.  Learn.

Some folks view the draft too much toward plugging holes rather than building for the future.  Howie typically uses FA to plug the most obvious holes, so we’ll see what the team needs are in 3 weeks from now.

I haven’t done many draft simulations recently because a lot of boards still have Willis and Pickett available in the 30s.  Three QBs are gonna get drafted in the top 11 picks — those guys will be long gone by the time the 2nd round starts.

A month or two ago I posted about the so-called 4i alignment and pointed out that we play it a lot. He would be perfect for the zero-tech.

That works then.  If Gannon is switching over to this formation or at least prefers to play it more than straight up 4-3 (while mixing things up to show the O different looks or depending what works better vs a certain O style/personnel) then we need a true NT.  Our D personnel to start last season was built for Schwartz 4-3 so it would have taken time for Gannon to figure out what players could play this style and be at least passable in it.  I suspect we'll know more depending on what FAs they sign (if any LBs or DLs) and draft.

Uh. You just said the same thing I said.  FFS.  It’s a reach for us.  Yes.  Glad you agree.

"learn”. 🤡

Why would a C with his talent be a reach? I'm willing to be wrong but him, Maliata, and Dickerson would make a pretty great line for a long time. Kelce isn't playing forever and it's one of the three most important positions on the team with QB and LT. If one is sitting there and they can lock it down why not? I'm not a Seumalo guy.

So the draft is like getting married And building a family, instead of just plugging obvious holes?

Yep and some pretty good players will slide to us.  Which would make an underwhelming DE and a C at our picks reaches.  Especially for the Eagles.

Who do you see falling?

JFC.  We didn't say remotely the same thing as much as you want it to be so.

Just now, 4for4EaglesNest said:

Because he’s a C.  Just because we have a plethora of 1sts this year, doesn’t mean you spend wildly.  You find a replacement later.  You don’t draft a C in the 1sts. You don’t need a Jason Kelce to be a good to great team.  And you obviously don’t need to draft a Kelce in the first round.  That’s a dumb use of resources and only a pick that a team without a lot of holes to fill makes.

It's the 2nd or 3rd most important position on the entire team and we just saw a SB where the middle of the line collapsed. Guess we'll disagree. I'd lock that spot down vs a WR or LB. You have a point you can find a Kelce or Linsley later in the draft but Hudson and Ragnow were first and second round picks.

I didnt know the XFL was coming back again. They seemed to be on to something in their 2nd try but COVID came and crushed them at the most inopportune time. Now if they come back, AND have some sort of partnership with the NFL, they really seem to have a chance at survival.

May be an image of 1 person and text that says 'VIA ESPN'S KEVIN SEIFERT GRID B-R IRON NFL AND XFL ARE PARTNERING THE XFL WILL TEST OUT NEW RULES, EQUIPMENT AND OFFICIATING FOR THE NFL.'

This photo is basically an advertisement for why we should draft Lloyd.

Hargrave is fine for the 0, and Cox/Williams can play the strongside 4i. Sweat is fine at the other 4i. Graham will replace Barnett (and we can find his eventual replacement in round 2 or 3 this year due to absurd depth at DE) and Taylor replaces Singleton. Edwards is fine at the MLB spot here.

But Avery is the obvious weak link, and upgrading him with Lloyd changes this whole defense. He can cover from that spot and rush the qb. And then he takes Edwards' spot when we go to a base 4-2-5 alignment.

I don’t understand the theory for "reach”.  F out of here with that clown.  I’m the first one to correctly bash this FO over their recent reaches the last 5 or so years.   I got some randos trying to educate me.

Anyone wanna bet that Karlaftis doesn’t slide to 25 or below.  Please step up.

I'll bet you don't eat your shoe either way!

If Hurts has a chance to be an excellent QB, then what qb who has been in the league 2 years or less DOESNT have a chance to be an excellent qb?  His passing raw ingredients are as bad as any young rostered or PS qb in the nfl.

Hes here because he can run and because the locker room likes him.  As a pure passer, without those other traits, he wouldn’t even be on a roster.

Wait until the combine.  There is always movement after the combine.  QB’s and others will rise, pushing guys down.  There has already been movement the last 2 months.  Leal was a top 10 pick a month ago.  Now, not so much.

Re read your post.

No it’s not.

Fine being wrong. And yeah some QB will will rise and hopefully a few WR. If they draft 3 what is your wish list for positions?

We won't even have the firsts to get anyone because we're getting Jimmy G!!!!

Ouch town! But i also heard was pretty stiff competition….
