Hurts was 53 in the second round - 85 in the third round if we passed. You’re sure he would have been there, assuming you like him?

No adverse comments on the other two - bad picks. Or, maybe decent picks who didn’t pan out. Please forget I include Pumphrey there. That was desperately bad.

Pumphrey was bad. Hollins was a good pick, they knew he'd be a top ST guy, so they gambled on size speed upside at WR.

Hope so. Everyone who is intimidated enough to feel the need to ignore me is another notch on my belt. 😆

What are Went'z issues with Howie if they aren't what I think they are?  Because it seems like they kind of are what you think they are based off of your first paragraph referencing Wentz getting upset over Hurts being drafted.

There has never been a single report that Rodgers has ever had any interest in being traded to Philadelphia.  There were reports of other teams though, none of them though the Eagles.  Likewise for Watson we've gotten reports that he is not willing to waive his no trade clause for the Eagles.  We have gotten reports of the teams he is interested in going to, like Miami, and those teams did not include the Eagles.

That isn't Howie's fault. If a QB can't handle competition, that's the fault of the QB being a loser, not of the GM. And that wouldn't be an issue with Watson, because he's actually good and they wouldn't need to draft his backup.

There were reports he may be interested in Denver. Those have never been substantiated. But it doesn't matter. He wanted to stay in GB. So the Broncos and every other team are no different than the Eagles to Rodgers, he didn't want to be anywhere but GB.

There is simply no evidence that the Eagles are widely viewed around the NFL as an unattractive destination. They've never under Lurie had issues luring players to play in Philly. That doesn't mean they'll get every player they want, but this narrative that they've become this toxic place no one wants to go to is completely unfounded. And players who come here love it. Ask Torrey Smith, Malcolm Jenkins, etc who raved about their time here.

I'm not absolving Wentz of blame with how he handled it but it was a situation that was 100% fully avoidable and completely self-inflicted by Roseman.  At the end of the day numerous decisions by Roseman over the years contributed to destroying the relationship between Wentz and the Eagles.

The evidence is the fact that Wilson did not have interest in coming here, Rodgers did not have interest in coming here and as all reports have stated Watson does not have interest in coming here.  The only time I've even seen it hinted that he might was when Adam Schefter was asked in a radio interview if he think Watson would waive his no trade clause for the Eagles and he gave his opinion that he think he might.  But beyond that opinion answer from Schefter every report out there to date has been that Watson has not and is not willing to waive his no trade clause for the Eagles.

So if im not mistaken. With everything that happened today and Seattle in on Willis. Carolina in on Pickett. That leaves us and Tampa?

Who had Wentz playing for Washington on their 2017 Bingo Cards?

Crazy times. He isn't great, but he's definitely better than what they have.

I agree for the most part. Still I’d say a strong minded character will more likely succeed here. Everyone makes mistakes, but Philly fans and media will give you a harder time when things are going wrong than other places. So maybe it’s not for everyone.

Problem is we all know Howie has a hard on for Pickett. Thats why I think hes the guy.

BTW I wouldnt touch Willis at all. Riddler in round 2 sure.

We all know this?  I'd think the one Howie likes is Willis.

How can you say it was fully avoidable when Wentz is now on his 3rd team in 2 years? Wentz is a pouting child. Wentz got hurt every freaking year here, and they wanted some security so they drafted his backup. Wentz had numerous locker room issues with the team. The Eagles did everything they could to make it work and gave him a massive contract extension. Howie Roseman deserves zero blame for the Wentz situation and I don't even like Howie. It's 100% on Wentz. Not 50%, not 90% not 99%... 100%. And you're seeing it now with him not working out in Indy either. He's a problem.

Reports are not evidence. 3 QBs are not evidence of widespread unwillingness to come to Philly. As for Schefter, he's actually been one of the guys connecting the Eagles to Watson more than most reporters. He said on 97.5 before he thinks Watson would agree to come to Philly.

He does?

Hurts was taken a round too early

Mack Hollins was taken a round too early

Pumphrey was taken 2 full rounds too early -- AND he traded UP for him.

Hurts was somewhere between #15-20 among all NFL QBs last year, in his first year starting. Went 9-8 (8-7) and got his team to the playoffs.

If I could guarantee that a drafted QB could do that his second season, he'd go in the top 20 picks.

GMs don't care if he does it with his arm or legs, as long as he wins games. Because half the teams in the league didn't make the playoffs.

Because Wentz fell off a cliff in 2020 and while he was better in 2021 he still wasn't back to what he was prior 2020 completely demolished the Colts season with a week 18 choke job on the road against Jaguars.  To say Roseman deserves zero blame is a joke.

As a side note, I absolutely love how you cite the numerous locker room issues with hte Eagles (based purely on reports) but don't hesitate to immediately start off your second paragraph by completely disregarding reports as "not evidence".

You're letting your desire for something to happen completely cloud your ability to see the reality of it.

Hurts is going to cost us a lot less in the process, about $27M less in 2022.

Yeah that was my point. If neither is the answer, go with the cheaper one for now.

Mocking Ridder in the 2nd is okay with me if it ends up like this:

He was not top 20 in QB rating or completion percentage.

Tell me how Howie deserves blame for what happened with Wentz.

The reports were backed up by action. Wentz was just traded again for the second time in two years. There is nothing to back up Rodgers not wanting to come to Philly because he never even hit the trade market.

You're letting your distaste for the Eagles cloud your judgement. You're making baseless generalizations over and over, not backed up with any evidence. And again, you're using rumored 3 QBs preferred destinations to make a point that the entire league views the Eagles as toxic. It's baseless.

He was number 1 in letters written and preseason games missed because of diarrhea, though.

Why are you even arguing with that tool? Hes one of the biggest trolls in EMB history. Block him and be done with it, Wasting your time even reading anything he says.

Point remains: He went to the Colts, to Reich who stuck his neck out for him (which hurt him), he was supposed to come in a strong situation and all that.

Yet a year later he’s gone. FO wasn’t even paying lipservice like pretty much everyone in the league would have done.

Why? Just because that one game?

I don’t think so. They had him in the building and couldn’t wait to get rid of him after. That’s saying something.
