Kirk played mostly outside before moving to the slot last year, so he has some versatility.

I like Christian Kirk and I’ve watched him a lot living out in Arizona. Still young at 25. He gives you versatility. Add on can even do punt returns. was good in 2021 because he got a nice increase in targets once Hopkins got hurt. I’m doubting he’s getting 103 targets (led the team) here. Likely to be behind smith and goedert and we don’t throw nearly as much as the cardinals (cardinals 591 pass attempts vs. eagles 494– cardinals also likelt would’ve been higher if Murray didn’t miss games where they didn’t throw as much with mccoy)

However if it’s true his market is $15 mil per season I’m not sure I’m willing to pay him $15 million a year (i get can make cap lower for a year or two with how it’s set up). Honestly it’s why that Ridley trade not happening and him getting suspended hurts. That’s the type of WR (when healthy and playing) i think you should be willing to spend the money on cause of his upside, ability and age. I think Kirk is a clear upgrade and has upside but not sure I’m willing to spend what it’s going to cost.

It's fine but we are not getting Travon at 15. He's a top ten pick easily, possibly top 5 now.

Agreed. Insert Ojabo or Johnson there if we can. If none are available that sucks but it does mean someone like Stingley, Gardner or Hamilton might fall. Especially if more QBs go than expected.

He copied and pasted what appeared to be an entire report... and didn't mention where it was from?   It would be nice to provide a link to the source.   Hence the question... "What's the source?"

Just looked at it again. My mistake in this case.

Beat reporters at major institutions in two different markets have written about this stuff over the past few years. At what point do you quit insisting this is some conspiracy to trash Carson Wentz?

It's been said by many posters on here before -- once the 1st round pick was secured from the Colts by virtue of Wentz playing the requisite number of snaps, he should now be irrelevant.  The cap dollars are off the books, the draft picks are secured, and the organization has moved on.  Posters on here should move on as well.

The relevant issue for the Eagles is they have a bottom-tier starting QB in Hurts, and that position needs to be addressed and improved -- much like the Colts have just done.

Kap's not coming back and I don't know who keeps trying to resurrect that story.

He's 34 and will turn 35 during the season and hasn't played professional football for 6 years.  How serious is he about playing football?  If he really were serious about playing ball, don't you think he would have played in the CFL / XFL / something like that at this point?

His wiki page says it all: "Colin Rand Kaepernick is an American civil rights activist and a former quarterback"  he thinks of himself more as a civil rights activist than a football player.  He's not coming back.  Ever.

I saw his hype video and he looked very serious.

I'm not in on Kirk at $15M, but would be at a lower price. There are a ton of great slot receivers in the draft this year. Moore, Shakir, Phillips, etc. What I do think is that we need to look beyond the 2022 season, as it's likely Hurts is not the guy in 2023. We have some pieces, but let's assume our WR corps without any additions looks like:

DeVonta Smith

Quez Watkins

Greg Ward

Jalen Reagor

I believe Ward gets resigned as a backup slot guy, JJAW is cut, and Reagor unfortunately sticks around. That leaves us with two needs. One, an X WR with size and a starting slot WR. I like Quez but I like him much better as a matchup dependent backup.

There are a ton of different routes they can go between FA and the draft. One thing I think they need (and even DeVonta has said) is a veteran presence in the room that can start (e.g. not Greg Ward). If they go with a Kirk, who is a much better slot WR than he is outside, you'd be looking in the draft for an X with some size ala Treylon Burks, Christian Watson, Alec Pierce, George Pickens, Justyn Ross, etc. If in FA they go with an X such as DJ Chark, they could then look for a slot in the draft like a Skyy Moore, Khalil Shakir, Kyle Phillips, etc. Both of these are viable routes, and your WR rooms could look like:

DeVonta Smith

DJ Chark

Khalil Shakir/Skyy Moore/Kyle Phillips/etc.

Quez Watkins

Greg Ward

Jalen Reagor

or

DeVonta Smith

Treylon Burks/Alex Pierce/Christian Watson/George Pickens/etc.

Christian Kirk

Quez Watkins

Greg Ward

Jalen Reagor

I know a lot of posters here don't want to invest in WR because of our offensive philosophy with Hurts, but I'm also thinking 2023 and beyond.

They ever mention what the Eagles were willing to give up for Ridley before the suspension?

i have not heard but I would guess one of the firsts.

40M is not 25M. Massive difference!

Kirk seems to check every box the Eagles look for in expensive free agents. Young, versatile, still some upside there. Eagles have inside info from Aaron Moorehead.

15 is craziness. I had him on my list but I was thinking somewhere around 8 per year... I still really like Jamison Crowder as a supreme under the radar slot receiver.

He's going to be $10+M a year, easily

That maybe so i don’t think he’s worth $15 mil per year. Living out here in Arizona, the Cardinals have tried to replace him and actually put him on the trade block before this past year. Besides that, i always pause and ask why the cardinals would allow him to just walk away even though he’s young, has upside and versatility.

I understand you can’t pay everyone, but Hopkins is coming off an injury plague season (his 2020 he was also banged up). Rondale Moore has tremendous upside but was inconsistent all year. And Zach Ertz might walk in free agency. So you could use Christian Kirk on the team right now. And they might just let him walk away. That along with trying to deal him away in the past gives me cause for concern about just paying him $15 mil.

don’t get this misconstrued, I like Christian Kirk. I loved him coming out Of Texas am. However I can not say I’m comfortable giving him $15 million per year.

Agree overall that $15 mill is overpriced for him, but that's the cost of free agency unfortunately. Inflates prices bigly.

I will say, Arizona doesn't have a great track record of decisions....they've been a crappy franchise for a long time. And just off the top of my head, Tyriann Mathieu jumps out as somebody they should have kept around.

I'm curious how much these receivers are really going to make in a year where the market is flooded and there is a deep draft for WRs.

same question when considering the Chandler Jones rumor. A 32 year old DE in a draft loaded with DEs.

If Kirk is going to get $15, I wonder where Juju will land.

Anyone of note sign in MLB FA since last night either for Phils or any team?  Thought these moves would be quicker with the long layoff but haven't really heard anything

Id give Kirk like  $11.5m.  We dont have much tied up into the WR position right now....  Especially if they dump Reagor

Yeah, $15 million a year is rich for Kirk. But I definitely think the Eagles will be involved based on all the reasons I mentioned.

Potentially cheaper slot options in FA would be Crowder, JuJu, Zach Pascal, Isaiah McKenzie, Jakeem Grant, Richie James. But if they can get Kirk at $11-12M I think he's a great addition...versatile, and young.

I will not disagree with you that the Cardinals are not a good organization and they made bad moves at time, but they still gave Tyron Mathieu an extension before. The Cardinals have been fine giving their young players extensions and locking them up. Heck even some of their older players that didn’t deserve the extensions they got. They just make other idiotic decisions afterward

again I like Christian Kirk. I don’t like Christian Kirk at $15 million per season. Maybe he turns out to live up to that $15million or he could wind up being what Curtis Samuel was this past year (granted Samuel got injured but really he also hit FA coming off his career year, was young, had versatility)
