Yeah, $15 million a year is rich for Kirk. But I definitely think the Eagles will be involved based on all the reasons I mentioned.

Oh i don’t disagree with you. they’ll be in on him for those same reasons you mentioned .

same question when considering the Chandler Jones rumor. A 32 year old DE in a draft loaded with DEs.

Yeah, wouldn't be surprised if he got a deal structured to be essentially 2 years or something along those lines.

They ever mention what the Eagles were willing to give up for Ridley before the suspension?

Did they also use the promo code on that bet where they got $300 in free bets if they bet just $5?

He's going to be $10+M a year, easily

Hmmm I'd have to sleep on that one.

Worth the money.

Also thankfully takes us out on Linderbaum

40M is not 25M. Massive difference!

I'm 100% onboard with trading him.

Any cap wizards know where this puts us entering FA?

There's no way to tell without seeing the details. This probably has a ton of void years to spread the cap hit out in the future

Are there 5 dummy years or something?

Difference is Hurts still has all his upside, Wentz has none.

The other factor is he had three inexperienced receivers in Smith, Watkins and Gainwell, and nonfactors in Reagor and Stoll.

Nor did the Eagles have a real power back, and Sanders was MIA half the season, RG was a revolving door.

So not just Hurts, but the whole offense has a lot of head room this season.

Afan, lets be honest here bud.  Hurts has limited upside at best.  He lacks the physical tools to be a complete NFL QB and he's shown regression IRT his development of understanding of the game.

The Eagles had Howard...who was pretty darn effective as a power back.  Let's not forget how absolutely dominant the run game was due to blocking.

As far as dead money, Howie has admitted he screwed up trying to keep the window open.

On a team discarding its veterans, with a lot of draft picks and young players, cap room won't be an issue since Howie hasn't gone crazy in free agency since the Dream Team fiasco, he focuses on value. And after 2018-20, I doubt he'll give out a lot of overpriced third contracts, more likely he'll be moving out veterans while they have trade value.

Being a GM isn't like going to confession at church.  How many other GM's in league history have been afforded the opportunity to say whoopsie, I messed up and I admit it and be granted 'forgiveness' as often as he has.

Just checked OTC, no update, curious what they are doing with the future 10.5 dummy money 2023-2025 in this restructure.

He had a strange career for sure. Started very below average and was able to win two Super Bowls being so, then had a nice stretch of "elite" play but couldn't win anything, then tailed off again.

Big Ben carried mediocre coaching.  Mike Tomlin is the epitome of the 'gold standard'.  This whole post is my personal opinion so every feel free to flame it but I think Big Ben and Phillip Rivers would be viewed a lot different if they had better than just competent coaching for the majority of their careers.  Rivers is the biggest victim of this during the era.  Oddly enough, Peyton Manning gets a nod at being one of the goats despite being about as pedestrian in the playoffs (well worse) as Big Ben and Rivers.

Kap's not coming back and I don't know who keeps trying to resurrect that story.

He's 34 and will turn 35 during the season and hasn't played professional football for 6 years.  How serious is he about playing football?  If he really were serious about playing ball, don't you think he would have played in the CFL / XFL / something like that at this point?

His wiki page says it all: "Colin Rand Kaepernick is an American civil rights activist and a former quarterback"  he thinks of himself more as a civil rights activist than a football player.  He's not coming back.  Ever.

We watched Ben Simmons do the same thing.  Things didn't go his way, he refused to work on and improve his game, then threw a temper tantrum causing a huge scene to keep in the limelight.

Yeah, I had the same thought/hope of wondering whether any of that was within this new $14 million.  I love Kelce but he does not cut us any breaks on his deals.

I don't think anybody coming back for one more season should have much impact on draft strategy, which ideally is about bringing in young talent for the next 5-10 years.

I have my doubts Linderbaum is high on the Eagles list, anyway.  Interior OL is not one of the positions the Eagles typically use a first round pick on historically.  Since 2000 their 1st round picks have been:

WR -- 5

DE -- 4

DT -- 4

OT -- 3

CB -- 1

QB -- 1

OG -- 1 (the fireman)

If we assume the Eagles don't draft purely on need (Reagor and DeVonta Smith might contradict that, though) then we could figure the likely 1st round picks -- if the Eagles use all 3 current ones -- would be a combination of DE, WR, and DT.  It is a fact the team will be moving on from Cox, Graham, and Barnett soon, barring anything unforeseen.

Nope.  I’m thinking some are waiting for Freeman to set the market.

I still can't wrap my ahead around the idea of him leaving the Braves.

I'm all for it, but still don't believe it will happen.

I guess my logic is more that it makes it easier to draft Jurgens/Strange in RDs 3-4 than Linderbaum in RD1. Let them sit for a year.

It's true.  Malik McDowell never made a tackle for this team.  Didn't even make the team as far as I can remember.

I was saddened to hear that "Luis" from Sesame Street, Emilio Delgado, passed away yesterday.  My childhood consisted of many hours watching Sesame Street -- which in those days consisted mostly of Luis, Maria, Gordon, Susan, Bob and Mr. Hooper interacting with Big Bird, Oscar, Grover, Bert and Ernie, and the rest.
