So two pieces of info

1. supposedly John McClain of Houston chronicle was on Sirius about 10-15 mins ago saying the eagles made an offer to houston for watson last year. Watson had no interest going to the eagles.

2. also caplan on inside the birds saying as of Monday morning watson has no interest in the eagles.

Certain people here will still remain in denial about Watson not wanting to come here.

It has been for a while.   Good for him, I guess.

Kirk Cousins is such an enigma.  The guy is pretty much ranked top 10 in so many QB categories which should be great but he just can't win.  Is that on him?  Is it the team around him?  He has talent to throw to.  That's never been the question.  He doesn't throw an obscene amount of INT.  I just don't understand what the hell he is.  Also can't believe he's the highest paid player over the last 6 years.  That's crazy.

- Buccaneers Re-Signing C Ryan Jensen To Three-Year Deal
- Patriots Placing Second-Round Tender On WR Jakobi Meyers

Yeah, I don't really get it either.  Just looking at numbers, Cousins should be an elite passer, yet nobody looks at him like that.  Did you know Cousins is 7th all time in career passer rating?  Is this just because he makes a lot of safe throws?  Doesn't have that killer instinct?

Yep and here we are.  All arguing over Hurts or some other QB.  Gannon or some other D Coordinator.  Talking about Rock Paper Scissors and Nerf Basketballs and what we all should really be talking about is why our team.....our favorite football team and for most of us our favorite sports team.....is being shunned by another high profile player.

How our "GOLD STANDARD"...…."NEW NORM"...….."QB FACTORY"...…  Can't convince high profile players to come and play for them.  Blame the weather....blame the fans.  But it is Lurie and Howie's job to upgrade this team and convince these guys to come to Philly.

The real story should be....how LOWIE is perceived by others in the NFL.  Sure, they'll spin it and say they didn't want to spend the capital to get him.  Or how they weren't comfortable with some of the things he's done or said.  Or better yet, they'll try to convince us that Jalen is their guy.  When the fact is....they were in on him......and he denied them.

Sure, you can argue you didn't want the guy....I am fine with that.  But that's not the real issue.

So let's review, just in the last year:

- Doug was content with getting fired....rather than working with Lowie.

- NS was the 10th guy on their list to hire.  Interviewed multiple guys and some extensively and then enter Sirianni, late and all of the sudden he's the hire.

- Carson was content with getting traded....rather than working with Lowie and NS.

- Russell Wilson won't waive his NTC to come to Philly.

- Deshaun Watson won't waive his NTC to come to Philly.

You couldn’t be more wrong.

The necessary changes are to rid the FO of the little weasel cancer that is dragging them down to the perpetual 7-10 win territory, just missing out on every big name.  Howie Roseman.  Lurie needs back the F off and fire Howie and bring a real football guy in.  Howie controls the narrative to Lurie....He's the puppeteer.  Problem is now that Lurie's son is more involved and is ALL IN on analaytics….it can only continue.  Analytics is how you get and stay in the 7-10 win range.  It's only a matter of time before Julian Lurie is walking around practice with a whistle and a pair of new balances on....like his dad.

And I wholeheartedly disagree.    There is only ONE issue here....one that matters.  Until you start with that one, you can't move on to the others.

I agree with the top.  And I believe the rest are still issues... just that there's one glaring one and leads to the rest.  Fixing the one problem though won't magically make the others go away.

I'm shocked we didn't get any of the Howie classic re-workee deals to kick the can down the road for more cap space now heading into free agency that we usually get.

Some players just have the 'clutch' gene, others are lacking that.  Cousins seems to be lacking it, whereas Brady has it, as did Montana, Elway and many of the other greats.  That seems to be the thing that separates the truly great ones from the stat padders.  Cousins can put up big numbers when there are no expectations, but as soon as they rise, he crumbles.  Many others have as well.

Cousins has been overpaid ever since he hit free agency, and he stands as the marker for all future QBs... if you bet on yourself and win, you get PAID!  Teams will stumble all over themselves to overpay, partly because they don't have to pay the cost in draft picks as well.  Good for him, bad for the team that signs him.

He's the most un clutch player I've ever seen.

He's got that one, " you like that" moment and that's about it.

Then again Matthew Stafford never won anything either until this year on a stacked team so🤷‍♂️

1 1/2 hours until tampering begins, just over 48 until the new league year and contracts and trades become official.  What do you guys expect.

I see Cox deal getting reworked.  I don't see them trading him having 76 million, over 1/3 of the cap dead.

Mid tier WR will be the first announcement, Paschal, JuJu, no one to get overly excited about.

As much as I would love to have Watson, I see a Trubisky / Mariota type signing.

A safety and a mid tier CB.

I've said all along, none of Rodgers/Wilson/Watson would have any interest in waiving a no-trade clause to go to Philly, and it has nothing to do with Howie or Lurie.  The Eagles don't have any difficulty signing free agent players.  There have been high profile Eagles players who have returned, or wanted to return after leaving -- Desean Jackson, Nick Foles, LeSean McCoy to name a few.  You don't hear any recently retired Eagles like Chris Long, Torrey Smith, Darren Sproles bashing the organization; it's just the opposite.

There just isn't any motivation for a secure, highly paid QB to go into the fishbowl that is the Philly market -- unless it's as a Super Bowl contender to chase a ring.  Some guys would love the spotlight, but a lot just wouldn't have any interest in the aggravation.  Where do rich people buy property and build houses?  In gated communities, acreages, away from the rabble that is the rest of us.  If you're filthy rich, you buy your own island to live on.  No need to ignore local call-in radio shows that say 'you stink' 5 times before 8:30am, no chance for your kids to be hassled at school for the loss over the weekend.

That's why the only signal to me that these guys are avoiding Philly because of Howie or Lurie would have been if they signed with the Giants or Jets.

Am I missing something on Zach Pascal? What would be the point? Seems very JAG to me

wrong.

1 1/2 hours. did you forget to spring ahead?

Speaking of enigma players, read that it was Kenny Gainwell's birthday today.  What are our expectations for him in year 2.  His season was so up and down that I have no idea what to expect from him.  He goes from RB2 to not playing then to RB3.  He showed good instincts for the end zone and surprisingly they used him inside more than I thought they would.  Should be be the #2 RB here?  Should he be used in a Darren Sproles type of way?  I thought it was a DP and Duce thing how the Eagles just rotate their RB but I'm thinking it's more of an organization philosophy to just rotate guys willy nilly rather than having defined roles.  Will be interesting to see how they handle RB.

Really depends on what they do at RB this offseason. Obviously he will have a role but I don't think we will be able to speculate further until we see who they bring in via free agency/draft.

The Packers may not be able to sign LB Campbell. Za'Darius Smith may be a cap casualty. I would hope we have interest there.

I think Gainwell takes over as RB2 this season and the primary receiving RB.  I'm surprised he only caught 33 of 50 targets last season; I'd have to go back and look at some of the games to see if it was missed assignments, bad throws, or other.  I think the Eagles will let Sanders play out this season as RB1 and let him walk after the season, unless he finally displays some durability (not likely).  I don't see the trade market for a RB, and the Eagles don't have a viable lead RB without him.

He's an excellent 3rd down back, who has versatility to move out to the slot.

Give me Chark, Nwosu and Williams (or Reid but then also another safety better than McCloud/Harris).

Devonte Adams refuses to play on the franchise tag.... That'll get interesting.
