JAG would be very much an upgrade over JJAW...

Really depends on what they do at RB this offseason. Obviously he will have a role but I don't think we will be able to speculate further until we see who they bring in via free agency/draft.

Right but I'm wondering if the Eagles think they have something with him and that might effect how they approach FA/draft.  The truth is, RB is pretty unstable.  Miles Sanders isn't long term answer.  Boston Scott and Kenny Gainwell appear to be more of role players.  Jordan Howard can pound out yards but he isn't the answer.  Justin Huntley looked extremely fast in his limited time but I don't think he'll ever get a legit chance.

I'm not complaining about the RB situation.  They ran for a lot of yards last year.  Having this OL helps too.  Having a running QB helps too.  The one thing Hurts does very well.  I want them to get a guy like Isiah Spiller or Kenneth Walker to be THE guy and then you sprinkle in Gainwell or Scott if he's back.

Maybe they bring in a guy like Marlon Mack, Sony Michel, Leonard Fournette or Chase Edmunds on a 2-3 year deal.   Will be interesting to see what they do.

Speaking of enigma players, read that it was Kenny Gainwell's birthday today.  What are our expectations for him in year 2.  His season was so up and down that I have no idea what to expect from him.  He goes from RB2 to not playing then to RB3.  He showed good instincts for the end zone and surprisingly they used him inside more than I thought they would.  Should be be the #2 RB here?  Should he be used in a Darren Sproles type of way?  I thought it was a DP and Duce thing how the Eagles just rotate their RB but I'm thinking it's more of an organization philosophy to just rotate guys willy nilly rather than having defined roles.  Will be interesting to see how they handle RB.

I definitely don't want him as a #2. He's just not physical enough. I do like him in a specialized role though. I personally want 2 backs this year, if not definitely 1. And not Howard. This team needs to get more physical on both sides of the ball.

Devonte Adams refuses to play on the franchise tag.... That'll get interesting.

Rodgers gives Adams even more leverage than DeAndre Hopkins had with the Cardinals. Packers have no choice but to give Adams a monster deal.

I'd be fine there with him as the 5th receiver...

random thought about a post I saw earlier, or yesterday.

If anyone thinks they would be interested in Rasul Douglas in our current defense, theres a CB in the draft we havent talked about here that you should have on your list.

Alontae Taylor from Tennessee has excellent workout numbers. Good size. Plays incredibly physically. But hes currently known to be a zone corner.

I bet he has the athleticism to become a good man to man cover guy, but zone is what he does. If you are looking for a zone CB.

You and hpenis get a room.

Also quit with LB and CB being taken in round 1. Eagles don’t do that. It’ll be DLine, WR, QB

Gainwell would have 80 catches a year with Tom Brady/Phil Rivers. By the end of his rookie deal, I think we'll see that kind of production with whoever the long-term QB is.

I'm thinking the same.

Agreed.  Might as well stop watching until it happens then, eh?

1 1/2 hours until tampering begins, just over 48 until the new league year and contracts and trades become official.  What do you guys expect.

I see Cox deal getting reworked.  I don't see them trading him having 76 million, over 1/3 of the cap dead.

Mid tier WR will be the first announcement, Paschal, JuJu, no one to get overly excited about.

As much as I would love to have Watson, I see a Trubisky / Mariota type signing.

A safety and a mid tier CB.

The reason they'd trade Cox is a combination of scheme fit and a player on the downturn whose motivation goes up and down; the whole dead cap thing doesn't seem to faze the FO any more and if it gets a younger player into the team earlier, there are merits to doing it  Especially when there is recent history of holding onto players for nostalgia reasons, and not for production.

Lets see

I don't even know how the franchise tag exists.  It's garbage.  For Devonte it's asking him to risk significant injury while playing on a deal whose value is significantly less in the long term than what he could get on the open market.  If you want the franchise tag to exist, I think it needs to be more than just a 1 year deal.  Like, give the players top-5 at the position money and give them the average length deal.   For Devonte, that would be a 3 year deal at $20 mil/year, which is very competitive.

This a good point on Dillard too

I'd love for Chark to be our one big name in FA.  Sprinkle in a Safety, LB and maybe a Rb and off we go to April.

I was waiting on that line.....it's been a while.  Shocked it would come from you.  No offense..

I said no offense.

Chark, Reid, Harris...Hicks? That'd be a nice 4 guys, WR/S/DE/LB

This could be a sneaky WR add too

I am leaning towards the Eagles going after Jordan Davis with a trade up.

meh.

ascending 28 year old sounds suspicious.

Kind of late to have a breakout year which is still only 42 catches for 568 yards. Greg Ward can almost match that.

He was good in KC but pass for me on a 28 year old WR who probably wouldn't match that production here.

Thankfully my dad is just as big an Eagles nut as me. I had an Eagles starter pullover coat, an Eagles Chalkline jacket, and a Randall jersey in the 80’s. Mom loves the Birds but never would have bought that stuff on her own without dad’s influence. Lol

OMG - this jacket has almost as much swag as the wolf t-shirt.  If you don't have a handlebar mustache, I'm not sure you can pull this off.

Nahhh. If they want a vet outside, I go Chark. If they want a slot Vet, then go Kirk. If they want someone who can potentially do both, go JJSS. No need to spend on JAGs like Pringle.

No to Hicks.  He's old and will break in half as soon as he walks into the building.

He's 29 and has been healthy his whole AZ career.

I think the wisest path is to definitely look at a RB in the 2-4 round range however it shakes out.  I don't see them extending Miles, Howard can't stay healthy so I don't know if he will be back and Gainwell while he might play a significant role in the offense is just too small to be relied on as the primary back.

Once again I am tracking the cap.  Remember last year, everyone was "it will be Ok, we will have 73 million in cap room in 2022"

Well, as it sits right now, we have 17.262 million in cap room.  I also tracked the impact of all the restructures into the future.  When we were gonna have 73 million in 2022 cap room, we were also projected to have 136 million in 2023 cap room.  That has been cut to 40 million already.  Yes, some is extensions for Mailata, Goedert etc, but that is a negative of 140 million in cap space over those two years.  Do  you think we have 140 million in talent ??

If they trade up in this draft for a D lineman Howie shouldn't be allowed back in the building and Tom Donahue should kick him in the jewels.

Agreed. I'd much rather take Wyatt at 15-16 then move up for Davis.
