Linebacker has been one of the most scrutinized positions in Philadelphia over recent years.

From the Nathan Gerry disaster to the newly-signed Eric Wilson being cut halfway through the year, the Eagles have yet to heavily invest into a game-changing linebacker.

Alex Singleton and TJ Edwards have been bright spots over the last two seasons, with the former emerging as a tackling machine. Following his 100+ tackle season in 2020, Singleton made a promise to break the franchise single-season tackle record in 2021:

Singleton made good on his promise last Sunday vs. Washington. His eight tackles put him at 137 for the year, surpassing Reggie White’s previous record of 133 tackles set in 1988. An astonishing achievement for a player that was benched in several games throughout the season.

Opposing QBs continue to pick apart Singleton in coverage — his 39.4 coverage grade ranks him 78th out of 86 linebackers — but he remains a steady force in the run game.

Respect to Reggie White’s 33-year-old franchise record — racking up 133 tackles as a defensive lineman is absurd.
