Agree,

Now do you think they just randomly pulled names out of the hat or do you think Doug gave them a wish list?

S

I would think that Doug has SOME say in what players would work there. Any team worth their salt would have the head coach at least part of the discussion. That does not mean he is the one saying that this player or that player absolutely HAS to be here no matter the cost and Baalke is just nodding his head and saying yes sir.

Baalke is the one paying out the contracts. He has the say, not Doug. He is paying out contracts as a man that may not be there next year, so he is going all out.

You are trying to draw a line that just is not there.

Yeah.  The guy who couldn’t pick and chose his own assistant coaches had more power than we gave him credit for.

Who had, Doug is a de facto GM?

Well, that's the company line to protect and insulate Howie from his horrible decision making.  Poor Howie, his hands were tied.

Loathe Howie, just think Doug;s worse and watching what's happening in Jacksonville seems like Doug has a lot of pull. Thats all im saying

I dont know how much power you thought he had. Put a ton of blame(Alshon deal, Golden Tate trade) went to Howie but it looks very similar to the Jaguars off season with Doug.

He's the head coach you dunce, of course he has pull. He's still not the one agreeing to the actual terms, which is what a de facto GM would be doing, as you've insinuated.

He would of had 37 catches for 500 yards here. We'll be ok.

Shortsighted and obtuse.

My guess is JuJu is probably the most likely play.  If the Bengals want Dillard, I would see if they would trade Higgins.

I hope not on JuJu. If we could get Tee Higgins, I’ll pluck Dillard’s unibrow myself, rent a limo and drive him to the airport myself.

Eagles should call Bengals about Boyd.

Absolutely.

Well there's a list already, it's called the free agent list.

Doug can request players, that doesn't mean he's the one giving Kirk 20 million a year to play there. A good GM would tell Doug, sorry pal, but it would cost too much to bring him in, let's move to the next one. Baalke is a bad GM and it's amazing he's still employed.

The other side is that because Jax is such a bad franchise, it's very possible they have to overpay to get talent in the building. Still nothing Doug has any say in or control over.

100%.

What’s Jarvis Landry’s deal.  Has he been released?  If not, what would it cost?

He and Pickens in the draft would be fine with me.

He will wind up with the Bills, Chiefs or Pats.

@Bacarty2 when RTK is insinuating you’re a crazy conspiracy theorist, it’s probably time to take a step back and evaluate your choices.

Early rumours were Bills/Chiefs would be primary landing spots. Don't see how we could compete if they made offers.

That would mean he would have to stay relatively healthy so you're probably giving him too much credit.

I mean teams can't collude but Jax not being in the market for another WR does impact the price.

The Jags new HC reaction has been strange.  Who in the hell pays that contract to Zay Jones?  We beat up Howie for some questionable contracts, but the Jags are on another level.  As a Shenault owner in fantasy football; he had injuries in year 1 and last year was a horror show in general but he did ok.  He needs outta there now.

Shenault is intriguing. Still young, some upside, has put up "okay" numbers. Wouldn't pay anything higher than a kid round pick at most.

Is a kid round pick better than a 5rd?

Punter watch!

I'm done arguing about it.  You guys are right. The Jaguars spend like this every year.

Here's an article for you, with this line highlighted:

"But the Jaguars are perennial offseason winners — this is the second straight offseason that Jacksonville has spent the most money in the NFL during free agency — so it is up to them to make their spending finally translate into wins on the field,” writes Sarah Barshop (Houston Texans).

Lol, in fact, no team spent more in FA from 2011-2018. But sure, the Jags never spend!

Impacts both Maye & Williams

No Chark and Odubel Herrera as the big Phillies move.  It's shaping up to be a great week.

I dont know how much power you thought he had so I cant put words in your mouth. but a ton of blame(Alshon deal, Golden Tate trade) went to Howie but it looks very similar to the Jaguars off season with Doug.  Trust me Howie still needs/gets a ton of blame but like I've said this is an outlier off season for the Jags and the only control in this experiment is Doug

wwtr2e.gif

The Jags and the Eagles are similar because of Doug!

We will ignore that Baalke first year as the Jags GM was last year and he signed a ton of free agents. This is just a continuation from last year.

Shenault the move at WR?  He's only making $2 million year this year and next.  Big strong slot guy.  What do you think he can be had for?  4th rounder?

Just curious as to when DJ Chark became Jerry Rice. The group think around here is astonishing.

Heres a word and definition for you.

Outlier - Noun - a person or thing situated away or detached from the main body or system.

Again, Im not arguing you guys win. This is a normal season for the jaguars. Paying scrubs like Zay Jones is normal and trying to ruin the WR Free agnecy market with one of the worst deals in history with Christian Kirk is normal

ok

 Be careful backpedaling…don’t want you to fall on your arse and cause brain damage.

I assumed they'd be drafting Hamilton, so them going hard for Williams is surprising.

I might do a 1 or 2 year deal with JuJu if the money was right, but if teams are going to over pay for him, no thanks.

I like Chark. Guy is big fast and showed he could produce in the NFL. Would have been happy to take a shot on him at that price. But it's also been 2 injury riddled seasons since his 2019 breakout season. I don't get all the hand wringing over not getting him. His and Reid's are the only contracts I've seen where I've said "ah I kinda wish we did that" but like the Reddick signing (and lack of Kirk signing at that ridiculous price) much more than either.
