The problem with most of the remaining safeties like Edmunds and Whitehead is they have spent most of their time in the box whereas I understand Gannon's scheme would optimally be two high the majority of the time.  There just aren't a lot of pure free safeties left out there.

Whitehead has been mostly in the box?

Whitehead had the best QB rating from the slot of all safeties  .  His only liability is himself , he plays reckless with his body .

Best as in highest or lowest QBR?

Which one? Both come off bad in that tweet.

The one that changed the deal after the agreement

I was half joking. Having Gregory over Jones is wild.

Howie not overpaying is always a good sign.

I'm rooting for Marcus Maye.

Maye is fine but I'd really love to get off the one year safety carousel.  If they sign Maye then I really hope its as the second guy with a multi-year deal for someone else so that Maye is really just the placeholder while a rookie we draft gets ready to replace him.

I can’t see that happening at all.

you cant see?  Remove alphataters underwear from your head

Eagles almost traded for Ridley and signed Marcus Williams. They are aiming high. Wonder if they adjust their strategy now that the top options are dwindling or if they have a splash left in them.

Yes

he did play more in the 10 15 yard range of the los then deep …Not a reflection on him , more scheme related

Close doesn't cut it. It's a fail. And they lost out on Reid, another fail.

Defending a guy from the slot is a totally different skill set than being deep half for one side of the field.  Jenkins was a strong safety as well and he excelled in the slot.

It’s been a fail for sure so far.  Oh well.  Onto the draft

Howie.  The Elite GM and Cap Genius is close …….and for Lurie, that’s all that matters.

This is what happens when you kick the can down the road, every year.   You’re "close”.   Until they rip the bandaid off, that’s all they’ll be.  Close.

Not true.  Their cap issues have never gotten in the way of signing a single target.    They wanted to go with Ryan Kerrigan, Eric Wilson and Anthony Harris last year... those were their top 3 choices at their respective positions.  And you know that's true, because Howie was proactive in making sure that we get to feel the pain of them for 2 seasons on the salary cap, not just one.

If we’re sticking with Hurts or going with a rookie QB then we aren’t competing next season anyway.

5 million in dead cap for those guys to provide about the same production they provided while on the roster.

Where we really fail. Great, can't wait

Lurie - Did you get Ridley or Williams

Howie- No, but I tried!

Lurie- So we still have a bunch of money and draft picks?

Howie - Yes sir we sure do!!

Lurie - Add it to the Watson offer.

Howie- But sir, I drafted the future HOF'er Hurts in the 2nd round, thats my guy

Lurie - .......................... you want that basement view again?

Howie - No sir, ill call Watson now, hes probably at the spa

Just to make sure I have my opinion aligned here, if Watson signs anywhere other than with the Eagles, it’s because Howie sucks. Am I right?

Howie missed on Kerrigan and Wilson, but hit on Harris & Nelson. Sometimes you hit, sometimes you miss when you're not shopping on the top of the market. I'll argue he missed on Flacco, even though we somehow got a pick for him.

Point is he isn’t limited to in the box

So that means you don't build your team in the interim? Do we start building you next year then? Of course not. This defense is broken, not even looking at the offense. They need a lot and it will take multiple off seasons to do it.  They can't address all the needs in the draft, not too mention their track record on drafting defense is poor.

If Howie is trying to sign a guy that's under contract to another team, yea he sucks.

That's being generous.

No, at least not from my viewpoint. It's been beaten to death he doesn't want to come here

Is it just me, but is this not the slowest tampering period in recent years league wide ??  Is the Deshaun Watson situation holding up the entire market ??
