Whitehead or fail

For those complaining about missing out on people (Haason Reddick not included), how would you be feeling honestly if an hour from now we saw the following headlines:

Eagles sign Chandler Jones to 2 yr/$33M contract

Eagles sign Tyrann Mathieu to 3 yr/$38M contract

Eagles sign JuJu Smith-Schuster to 4 yr/$50M contract

You saying them missing out on every free agent you want is a fail makes it sound that way. 
 

The Rams just won a super bowl with a safety who was retired for two years. He was brought in to play smart and not screw up. That’s what you want at the safety position. You don’t need to be paying them $12-$15/mil per year. Invest in the D-Line.

Safety, I wanted a safety. This team doesn't have one good starter at the position. They lost out on both quality young ones on the market and one we were "in on". I was mad about Campbell... That's about it. Certainly not every FA

It’s gonna be Maye. How do I know? Because his name fits perfectly as a pun for another bust safety addition.

There’s 31 other teams. I don’t get how anyone gets so emotional over missing out on certain free agents. It also seems that most big FA contracts end up being flops

I'd be fine with JuJu, S Whitehead. I don't even need the other two older fellas. I do like Za'Darius Smith for a d-lineman.

My point is there's still a lot of talent out there and I'm happier with the Eagles way than the Jaguars way.

Nah.  In this case, Watson likely saves us from a worse fate... which is Howie actually landing him.

Interesting that the Eagles big splash move is signing an Elephant/SAM.  If Taylor is healthy and continues to develop, Edwards, Taylor, Reddick, draft choice and Bradley make a solid LB corp.  I expect they target a larger DE in the draft and would not be at all surprised with a Davis selection at DT.  I would not be surprised to see the Eagles draft a DT and trade Cox.. I do wonder if Gannon has talked Howie into a re-evaluation of how he values LB and possibly secondary.   Would not be surprised with an Edmunds signing at S.  

Interesting thing about the RFAs.  They quickly announced they were not tendering Singleton. My guess is they targeted an extension based on a value of core ST/ backup and he countered with two time leading tackler on the team.  Quick breakdown on negotiations and sent him to the market. Bit of a delay on Herbig suggests second choice to extend of the RFAs and when he balked at offer, they did a right of first refusal tender.  Nothing on Scott or Ward suggests offers but not accepted with a go check the market  and get back with us but that they are interested. Could be wrong but that is how I interpret the messaging. 

Slow news day but positive i stumbled upon this by luck and got it. Think it’s cool as it’s game used from the 2010 eagles packers week 1 matchup.

That fate might be the worse now. But worse fate could still be ahead of us. Could see howie go all in next year and for a Qb potentially worse than watson.

The point is not their production, but on the fact that they were forced to shop, not the bottom of the barrel, but on the stuff that was stuck to the underside of the bottom of the barrel last year.  

I don't need, nor want Howie shopping at the top of the market, those types are almost never worth the cost.  What I want, is to have the option to do so if the right player is available... or to have the flexibility to bring in some middle of the road targets.   The crap fest they brought in last year was awful.

 

You really want to say that a team that gave up 80% completion percentage to any QB that was even moderately effective as a starter was a hit?  Harris and Nelson were not good by any stretch, which is why neither has been resigned already, and both are being allowed to test the market again.  If they were true hits, Howie would have looked to extend them during the season.  They were just not the abject failure that Kerrigan and Wilson were.  But, that sure doesn't make them a 'hit'.
