Agreed. My posts were in response to the notion that DeSantis would limit the ability to request reviews of books from the list to only people that had children in the school. Assuming those requests go through the Board, all tax payers have the same rights regardless of whether or not they have children that attend the school, and you cannot restrict those rights for one group but not another.  That was my point.

In response to his own bill, DeSantis said it went too far. LINK  Book challenges should be limited to those who have children in the school.  You can't give every Tom, Dick, and Harry the right to direct curriculum at the school. If they don't have kids in the school, or if they are not an educator, then GTFO.

But if you want to address the school board as a taxpayer. Fine. That is their function. Stand up, speak into the mic your 2 minutes. Make your book objections. What are your qualifications? No kids in the school? Not an educator? The board can respond: "We will take it into consideration" then throw it out.

Never read the book, and fell asleep during the movie, but my wife said there's another super disturbing part in the book where one of the kids suffocates their sister that's a baby sleeping in her crib? Sounds like a pretty F'ed up book all around.

I read it around 89 or so when I was in my mid 20s. When I think about the book, that scene never came to mind until it came up in here. The book is full of F’ed up stuff. Crazy coming from guy who writes horror and supernatural fiction.

Either this was God making the whales gay, or Trump is right about windmills.

Seriously nobody checked in on @bobeph

To restrict tax payers from having a voice at school board meetings? Again, this is based on my experience in PA so laws elsewhere might be different but here it is a requirement that school boards have meetings open to the public and allow for public comment periods. Any tax payers in the district in good standing are free to comment at the meetings.

That's fine, but we had plenty of people coming from outside the district to comment at our school board meetings.

They became a place for magaturds like Kz and Procus to soapbox about lizard people and gay agendas.

It’s not surprising that a "30 something” virgin would think that kids having sex is worse than kids being terrorized and murdered.

 How much crack does one need to smoke to make a point like this? For the record, I'm very much anti-supernatural clowns terrorizing children. I've been very consistent on that stance over the years. Also for the record, an orgy involving 11 year old children is an insanely disgusting thing to write about, whether or not the author agrees with your politics.

Yeah he never was good with that whole self-awareness thing. The funny part is that we all agree the story of child sex written by Stephen King is fictional but Mike actually believes the stories of incest in Bible are true, rather than allegorical. Fundamentalists like him are the reason why 11 year old victims of rape have to flee to a neighboring state for an abortion because of stories written in the very same book.

What the hell are you even talking about?

Do you even know anymore or are you just permanently broken by infinite TDS triggerings?

Where have I ever said anything like the bolded?  I've actually said something closer to the exact opposite, but you do you, psychopath.

Oh spare me that line of horseshit. You take so many things in the Bible literally, don't even try to deny it now. That's the only way you'd still be stuck on the whole "Jesus told us being gay is a sin" thing, and why you think an embryo is a human, yet you think getting a vasectomy is totally fine despite the church saying artificial contraception is a sin.

You've always been a hypocrite with zero self-awareness. Not just about religion, but about politics and pretty much everything else.

He's just interpreting those metaphors differently than you are.

Ok prove it, then.  Should be easy unless your a psychotic liar.

So why would you say this, I wonder, since I take everything in the Bible literally?

Why don't you two compare notes so you're insane ramblings can be consistent.

You said I take "so many things in the Bible literally".

Boogymanservant literally jokes about metaphors because I told him that some things in the Bible were not to be taken literally.

The things I take literally are things that are clearly literal.  It's not an allegory when there are direct passages about homosexuality, for one example.

But many things, especially in the old testament, are obviously allegorical to anyone who isn't being willfully stupid (Genesis, Revelation, for example).

"Only the parts that reinforce my hate against gay are clearly literal!"

What about artificial contraception, Michael? What's the church say about that?
