Like John said, it's largely unnecessary but I don't see any harm in it. But his main point was that Republicans wants to make as much hay over cultural sheet like this as possible, mainly because embarrassing populists like Trump and DeSantis have abandoned conservatism and they have no concrete ideology that appeals to the right. Of course, it's a losing proposition, because no one gets elected based on imaginary problems that effect so few people, but that's the logic behind it.

Even without the government missteps, Covid impacted way more than 1% of the country. No one has ever needed to be placed on an incubator because they came in close proximity of a TG person. No one ever had to miss work because a TG person works at their grocery store. It’s a horrible analogy.
