Any doctor at a facility that receives government funding would be violating a person's civil rights for refusing treatment because they "think" the patient is a homosexual. This is a very stupid law that will be overturned. I found the key sentence. What about the wedding cake bakery? Denied service based on religion. I guess we should throw them in jail, right?

It's so adorable when you try to use words you don't understand the meanings of. Yes, libertarians are indeed socially liberal while also being fiscally conservative. Why else do you think people like Justin Amash are so vocal against these stunts that DeSantis tries to pull? But thanks for once again proving you are completely out of your depths in these discussions.

The gay couple weren't denied basic accommodation, they were denied art. The bakery offered to sell them an undecorated cake (thus complying with anti-discrimination law), but the baker could not, by law, be forced to depict art he didn't agree with. Hence the correct and proper ruling by the SCOTUS. This new FL law, however, has nothing to do with art. Or put more simply, you are a low-info moron from West Virginia, completely incapable of understanding even the most basic of distinctions between two cases.

I have no issue with a baker refusing to make a cake for a gay wedding since it is a private business. Now, if a bakery said they wouldn’t sell to gay people at all - that’s a problem. But refusing to make a cake for a gay wedding shouldn’t be illegal. Take government funding and there are strings.

As much as you'd prefer we go back to the Alabama in the 50's, it's not happening because the majority of Americans have realized hate and bigotry have no place in this country. It's precisely reasons like these why you're gonna end up with 4 more years of Biden. You can't learn from your past mistakes, and it's clear you never will.

Nice try at becoming relevant, though.
May 18, 20233 yr I think that people can take the term ‘sex’ that's in federal law and interpret it to mean things beyond what it traditionally meant,” said Amash. What the hell is he even talking about?? So he's just going to go along with pretend genders now?? Guys a f'ing former Tea Party moron

Well supported argument by the scholar from West Virginia who doesn't understand the meaning of words and can't find a Libertarian that supports the discrimination of people based on sexual orientation.

May 18, 20233 yr There is a common saying in libertarian circles that goes, "Your right to swing your arm ends at the tip of my nose.” Your right to religious freedom ends when it infringes on the rights of others. Another thing that is missed is that like all parties, not all Libertarians think exactly alike. To paraphrase NDT, holding people to labels is intellectually dishonest and a lazy way to pretend you know someone. I for one still agree with the LP platform more than any other party, but there are many things I don’t agree with or at least not to the extent that other libertarian do.
May 18, 20233 yr Lol WGB going all in on the great transgender civil rights struggle is something else This has nothing to do with civil rights. This is faux civil rights LARPing for virtue signaling sake. Transgenderism is a mental illness

You dont have a right to demand the services of a physician for whatever you want whenever you want. That's not a right endowed by our creator.

Like I said at the very beginning of this, if you replace gays with black people, the argument isn't any different, especially not as a matter of law. Not that you have the slightest clue about the law, as you've repeatedly demonstrated time and time again.

And stop referencing black civil rights you virtue signaling idiot, you interjected that into the conversation because as usual you cant offer anything and just want to show your arse. We're talking freedom of religion and not 1960s civil rights for black people. Compelling someone to violate their religious beliefs by threatening them with prison if they dont perform a surgical procedure or provide a referral is truly high level libertarian stuff. But you probably didnt even get beyond the surface level on this because you needed attention, and therefore decided to deflect yet again.

We all know you can't, but to further prove how stupid you are, I'll even post the definition proving they are both listed as protected classes. For the statutes that created these protections, see Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Under the ambit of sex, also protected is pregnancy (see the Pregnancy Discrimination Act). Further, discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity is also prohibited as sex discrimination following the 2020 Supreme Court case of Bostock v. Clayton County. https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/protected_characteristic

Because issues involving race are not a protected religious freedom but issues regarding homosexuality and transgenderism are. Thats the difference. One cant claim religious freedom for denying service based on race but can based on protection of religious freedom. Any other big brain questions that a 12 year old could answer?

It's so cute when you think the law gives a ish about your feelings, but that's exactly what those are and unfortunately for you, those feelings are in no way, shape, or form congruent with precedence or actual SCOTUS rulings. Not to mention, how often religious based reasonings were used as a guise for discrimination against minorities in the past. Thankfully we've progressed beyond that while you still wish to cling to eras where your religion can infringe on the rights of others. The depths of your stupidity and bigotry never ceases to amaze me. Enjoy another loss next year, you of all people truly deserve it.
