Oh my. 😳 The man charged with the rape of a 10-year-old girl in Ohio is a Guatemalan illegal immigrant, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) source told Fox News Digital on Wednesday. Also: Abortion doctor that leaked Ohio rape case faces HIPAA violation Don't forget to add a state attorney general lying about the case on TV and implying that it was fake news! And then pulling a NY Times with a 1 sentence "correction" after it turns out he was wrong.

July 14, 20223 yr This just in: Moronic and impulsive southern politicians craft laws with a cleaver when a scalpel is needed. Post-Roe, many autoimmune patients lose access to ‘gold standard’ drug https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2022-07-11/post-roe-many-autoimmune-patients-lose-access-to-gold-standard-drug In Texas, dispensing methotrexate to someone who uses it to induce a miscarriage after 49 days of gestation is a felony; that makes pharmacists hesitant to fill such prescriptions for almost anyone with a uterus. A new total ban on abortion in Tennessee will effectively criminalize any medication that could disrupt pregnancy past the point of fertilization, with strict exceptions for a patient who will otherwise die. And in Virginia, confusion over rules about who is permitted to prescribe drugs "qualified as abortifacients” may be blocking access to the medication. ... "I have gotten some reports where children have been denied methotrexate for their juvenile arthritis until they’ve proven they’re not pregnant,” said Dr. Cuoghi Edens, an assistant professor of internal medicine and pediatrics at University of Chicago Medicine and a rheumatology expert who treats adults and children. In one case, a pharmacist initially refused to dispense methotrexate to an 8-year-old girl in Texas. In a note the child’s doctor shared with Edens, the pharmacist wrote, "Females of possible child bearing potential have to have diagnosis on hard copy with state abortion laws.”

My preferred outcome as of now would be the political neutering of Trump and a set of the Senators including Jordan plus a small set of "examples" that the DOJ take down (Jordan would be a good option though there are others that are probably easier legally). I think wider legal action, especially against Trump, would be a very risky precedent for the country longer term. I'm a bit torn there as one can't just allow any type of behavior without taking full action. At the same time, going after the political opposition legally is the stuff of corrupt banana republics and nutty communist/dictator type societies. My mind isn't 100% made up yet.

Ya know what else corrupt banana republics and nutty communist/dictator type societies do? Make a sham of democracy and attempt to overturn elections. The precedent isn't risky when the evidence is clear and the legal action is wholly justified. The guy submitted false slates of electors in multiple states and is literally on tape asking the GA SoS to find 12k more votes. Let's not act like this is some sort of gray area necessitating a more careful review of the circumstances.

Wash Post, The Atlantic, etc. They all recognize the complexity here of setting a precedent that a future Trump uses in a bad and unsubstantiated manner. What we don't want is another civil war or for going after competing political parties legally to become normalized.
