BS.

Despite warnings 50 years were allowed to pass and nothing got done. Why?

The abortion issue was more profitable as an election/camaign scare tactic than codifying the ruling as a law. Notice the only topic currently is IFV?

That's because abortion isn't polling high enough.

Republicans like people to reproduce.  That’s why they don’t like abortion and homosexuality.  Why would they want to ban IVF??

Not a subject I've followed to be perfectly honest. Like anything else in DC, when in doubt follow the money.

I gotta be honest - I don’t get the IVF thing.  Why are people against it?

Because fundamentalists like Mike think life begins at fertilization and nothing will ever change their mind about it.

It's a scientific fact that human life begins at conception.  That's not an opinion or something I just "think," that's literally the definition of the word and an absolute reality.

You think frozen embryos are people?

My daughter came home from college for Thanksgiving and managed to total her car.  Which had been sitting in the driveway - we didn’t let her take it to school.  Fun times.

I used the check from the insurance company to pay my property taxes…

Biden's America: where a liberal dad has to commit insurance fraud with his college age daughter to pay taxes.

I know you're joking but that's not fraud.  When an insurance company totals a car and issues payment for the value of the vehicle, you are not obligated to use that money to replace the vehicle.  Even if it's not totaled and they issue a payment for repair of the vehicle, you are not obligated to make those repairs, assuming their isn't a lienholder that would require it.

Oh I know. Facts aren't necessary when you're peddling a political narrative, especially one for the right lately.

There’s a difference between something being classified as "life” and something being given the legal protections of a person.  Sperm cells are technically alive. That doesn’t mean that if a man ****es that he’s just committed murder….

I agree with your point, but the fact remains that it is a human life and conception is when human life begins.  A sperm cell is not a human life.

Toastrel again with the dumbest post of the thread

It's literally a living human embryo.

So IVF clinics have been killing millions of babies and have gotten away with it this whole time? Is that right?

Facts are tough for you. Yes, I agree. It is an embryo. Embryos are not people.

Except in Alabama, where nitwits like you foam at the mouth.

Not babies.  We've been over this a million times.

If you guys are going to be intentionally stupid and play semantics then this is a pointless conversation.  As usual with you

Facts:  human embryos are human lives

Toastrel:  embryos aren't human lives you're so Stoopid! Derp!

Ok so they've killed millions of "human lives"? Committing large scale murder right under our noses this whole time and you never bothered to mention it till now?

Embryo. Fetus. Baby.  Baby is a human living being, the 1st 2 stages are not.

So do you think IVF should be banned then?

I would expect this will pass easily. Then again, I didn't actually think Roe would've been overturned either so who the F knows what can happen when so much of the south is run by these fundamentalist nutjobs who think Democrats are literal demons and Trump was sent by God to save America.

Hard to say.  As much as they're happy to lie about it, they're tied to abortion/anti-women stuff and they're beholden to the voters that want them to keep at it.  But at the same time their leadership doesn't want anything to do with this.

The funny thing is the contrast here.  Republicans see an election issue and think "how can we draw this out and make sure the other side can't fix it so we can soak as much political clout out of it as possible without ever doing anything?", see the border.  But the Dems see an election issue like this one and think "how can we leverage the attention to actually secure a law that our side wants?"  It lays both of their priorities bare.

Not sure I agree with the Dems route considering the circumstances, but in a world where one side wasn't in a retarded death cult, it would probably be a smart move and would potentially move the needle.

So if it's not a living being, what is it?  Dead?

If it's not a human, what is it?  It has human DNA just like you.

This entire line of logic is asinine if not diabolical.
