There's plenty examples of nepotism working and failing. If its going to happen, I much rather they have experience and are involved with the business instead of just being handed the keys.

Julian has been around the team for awhile. He was in the NFL's Junior Rotational Program for 2 years, where "participants are placed in a department for 6 to 12 months with project-based assignments. In addition, participants will receive comprehensive orientation and training, mentor assignments with upper management and the opportunity to network with other Junior Rotational Program participants."

I say this very politely, this is incredible dumb to say. billion dollar companies have been passed down to kids . Million dollar sport franchises have been passed down to kids.

In fact, ill go one better, passing million dollar companies to their kids who turned them into BILLION dollar companies, Aldi and Comcast come to mind.

The size of your company shouldnt determine who you groom, why, or if its family or not.

Yeah ok nepotism is cool.  This is what you guys are going with?  Ok

Nepotism will backfire far more than it will work out

Look at Belichicks sons, look at ARs sons....and this is the freaking owner.

Like I said, if this was Jeffs HVAC Repair and he wants to bring his son along to show him the ropes, OK

But its not, this is big business.

Its one thing to transfer ownership upon death or poor health.  But this is phony baloney nonsense and everyone knows it.

I would absolutely love for all of the competition to start appointing their sons, daughters, nephews, and uncles to positions within their organization.  Im sure it will totally work out.

The guy went to Harvard and has participated in an NFL training program for executives. You should be sucking your own pee pee in joy over the fact that this guy, who will one day be making the most crucial decisions for the team, actually worked hard to get where he is at and didn't spend the last decade partying in vegas and ibiza before showing up to take over once his dad dies.

Yeah he totally earned that role Im sure

People in meetings are going to be looking at this guy like a golden boy.

This happens all the time in the NFL. I would actually be surprised if there was a team that didn't have this.

Yeah if you have a small parts repair shop or something

Not a multi million dollar business, its not a good idea just like hiring people based on their skin color or gender

Hire the most qualified candidate, which I can guarantee he is not.  It wont sit well with his peers and god bless anyone who he comes into professional conflict with

Is this the first year you have followed the NFL?

Owners having family work in different positions and grooming children to take over had been ingrained in the NFL since its inception. They don't want family members working for other teams, nor do those teams want those family members there to take their secrets and implement them when they eventually take over their family's team.

Junior Rotational Program, is that like summer camp for owners' children?

What other executive successes have come from this illustrious program?

And again, if hes so thoroughly qualified, he can get a job in another organization, no problem.  One where his daddy isnt the big boss.

Lurie is smelling himselg and has been for years now

Pro tip, if you are going to call someone out for not knowing something, at least use the correct, very simple words.

Ok show me the successes.  There should be tons since this has been happening for so long

The Joneses in Dallas?  The Davises in Oak/LV?

I couldnt give any less of a ish how frequently this has been done since 1960.  Tell me if its a good idea right now?  It's not, its nepotism.

And if the guy cant be trusted to keep information private he probably doesn't need to be working there period.  How dumb is that, what is he going to do give other teams sensitive info on his dad??

So in business, and especially big businesses, companies have rotational programs that develop talent and leadership skills. The entire point is to recruit and develop leaders. Julian was in the NFL's version of that for 2+ years.

What other executive successes have come from this illustrious program?

No idea about other executives that have come from this program, but that would be great for you to look into and research a bit.

And again, if hes so thoroughly qualified, he can get a job in another organization, no problem.  One where his daddy isnt the big boss.

If he is so qualified, why would you want him to go to another organization?

You don't have a clue as to what you are talking about.

So you don't think that the son of the owner of the team is going to eventually be the owner of the team? Like you think once Lurie dies the team is going to be sold on ebay?

Exactly, but he wont, because this is all phony baloney rich person BS

Again, Ill say it for like the 10th time, giving up control because of age or health is one thing.  That happens all the time, I get it

Appointing his son to some BS position is a bad move.  Its transparent nepotism, it won't work.

Just now, Bacarty2 said:

Family A. Purchase price 50K. 3rd generation - 2.6 Billion dollars

Family B. Purchase price 100 dollars, 4 generation of kids 4.08 Billion

Family C - Purchase Price 2500, 3 generations of kids,  3.5 Billion

Family D - Purchase Price 17M  - Daughter took over, now worth 4.2 Billion dollars

Family e - Purchase Price - 70M  Son runs it, 2.85 Billion

Clearly this is a failing business model

This is all the examples in history?

Or are you just cherry picking random businesses that you think makes your stupid point?

It was a joke. No sane person is going to turn down inheriting a billion dollar business.

Ok then prove it and show me

You guys all say its happened for so long, lets see some examples of the smashing successes

Im not talking about f'ing Sam Walton for christs sake

Besides those two?

John Mara of the NY Giants - took over in 2005.

Art Rooney II - took over in 2017.

Both worked a long time in the organization before taking over.

Jonathan Kraft is currently serving as the president of the New England Patriots and is groomed to take over that organization when Robert passes.

That is just off the top of my head.

Not as wrong as you though

Not me.  Way too small a sample size.  I thought it was a mistake to give him that $100 million contract so quickly.

Just now, LeanMeanGM said:

He can inherit it, no problem.  Jeff bought the team, he has the right to hand it to his son.

But if his son has good ethics hed say "you know what, dad, I appreciate this but Id really like to work my way up and earn this on my own so no one thinks I was just given all of this without earning it"

That would be ethical though.

And again, hes not taking over as owner. Hes being placed in the organization along with other managers, executives, etc.  Imaging having a professional disagreement with this dude now.  He can just run to daddy, literally

It's not like he's going to be CEO tomorrow. He's been around the team and the business his whole life. And it's not like nepotism is unheard of in the NFL, starting with Art Rooney II. He's just at the beginning of a long training process, which he appears to be taking seriously.

And besides, his father owns the team.

So if the Eagles suck from here on out, we got a new target to place blame on......Julian Lurie.
