I'm sorry I brough such a depressing topic into the blog.  A little back story without too much detail. I met my friend 12 years ago during an AF commissioning program. He was on top of the world

The point of the Eagles is to make money for the owners and their family and to entertain us. They are succeeding, Lurie is passing on the team and you have entertained us all day about nothing. Seinfeld would be proud

Well, the point of the eagles to the consumer is to win games/entertainment.  Whether it’s entertainment or winning games depends on your stance on Jalen Hurts.

The point of the eagles to anyone who works for them or owns them is to make money.

I call false that you had to look up jabroni

Truly I did. I have vast areas of ignorance.

But hey, some of my best friends are Italian.

Legacy is a powerful thing in certain areas of business.  Lurie appointing his son isn't wrong per se, but perhaps experience outside of the NFL could prove beneficial further down the line when dealing with things like appointing non-football execs or negotiating with local authorities. Going from College into the NFL doesn't perhaps offer the widest perspective; if people know who you are as an intern, it can mean you get treated differently from the proles.

No.  That’s why I asked.  Let me know when you find out.

I asked @mr_huntand he confirmed from the parade.

Some people are so against nepotism they feel its their responsibility to point it out whenever they see it.

You’d think he tried to pull something clown-like and appoint Julian as president of the World Bank

An overweight Scandinavian? You’re the Yao Ming of Norsemen

There’s a legit concern that Julian will be bad at leading the analytics charge. We truly have no idea how he’ll do. I guess the over arching concern is how comfortable you are with the team leaning too heavily on analytics.

In baseball, analytics is far superior because the sample size is far larger and the players are on an island, so to speak.

Football can certainly use analytics, but it’s a tool; one of many and shouldn’t be overused. I think it is concerning that Julian, when he eventually takes over, leans further into analytics than Jeffy.

But being angry that Julian was given a job is dumb

The Eagles will only learn further and further into analytics. It's a good thing, but I can definitely see it being too much, too. There is a balance.

You sure are active in here today.  Is there a new kid gathering carts in the parking lot today?

Yes.....

The owners son got a promotion to cart supervisor, that is the cause of all of this.

You’re about 20 mins away from crying about being bullied in the blog and then disappearing for a few months.

Crying about bullying?

Of all the hurtful comments today this might hit the hardest.

@Mike31mt they are going to talk about Julian Lurie's new position with the Eagles after the break on 97.5.  I bet they don't cry like little bishes about nepotism.

Yeah Im sure theyre all celebrating this incredible hire.  No idea how the Eagles were able to land this amazing talent.

Did they say anything about how they were able to pry him away with all the other offers he probably had on the table?

I heard the Steinbrenners were calling.

Shhhhhh.  I agree with him, but I also know how the real world works.  Just don’t like the analytics BS.  Shhhhh.

Mike31manmeat isn’t the triggered target we thought we'd get when we all woke up this morning.  But he’ll do.

Oh.  You’re the guy.  I knew someone was left listening to that station.  I heard about you.

Yeah you know how the "real world" works because the NFL is exactly like food sales

Boom roasted

I've never heard of children joining the family business.

Again, this guy is going to own the franchise. Let him get his mistakes out of the way now before he has complete control. I just hope he is willing to learn from mistakes and not double down. Either way, he’s going to own the team so it doesn’t matter.

Assistant to the Regional Manager

Why does he need/deserve to be involved??  Do you guys want Jerry Jones??  Because this is how you get Jerry Jones....

His "first position" should be whatever hes qualified to perform.  Right now, his duties should entail sitting up in his damn box sipping cocktails like all the other rich people.  If he needs football, scouting, or analytics help, he can hire someone actually qualified.

Going to harvard in and of itself doesnt qualify you for jack ish in the NFL. It just gives people something to tell the useful idiots to make them feel better.

Hanging around a locker room or on the field qualifies you for nothing.

Lurie saying that he allowed him to observe the coaching hires or whatever as a justification is a joke.

Jeffry Lurie = Jerry Jones..... Julian Lurie = Stephen Jones

It depends. Do you like dudes and/or have non-white skin or a V? Forgot one. Do you have a D but think you’re a woman?

There was a report a while back that Julian and Alec Halaby, the Eagles analytics czar, were very close.

Safe to say analytics will be a bigger part of the organization.

Yeah, for sure. I mean it's already a huge part.
