I guess he didn't read the take which was basically Carson Strong has an NFL caliber arm and was accurate in college.

While I agree that statistical measures aren't that impactful in terms of evaluating Hurts, the team should not look to extend him unless he looks like a proficient passer. Sure being a top 5 offense helps make the case to keep him but I am not sure that's sufficient to justify paying him top 5 money.   The only way they should really consider it is if the team gets to or wins the Super Bowl.  I think absent that kind of performance the question will be whether he is good enough to win.  He had flashes of being, at times, a decent QB.  He didn't ever seem to play consistently enough for the floor as a passer not to look very low.  I am not sure I can envision a scenario where he looks like an elite passing QB this year.  They have him for another year on his rookie deal.  Why extend him absent some significant and consistent jump in performance.

Decent QB isn't worth $30+M per year.

LOL. Im black and have basically been the biggest Strong supporter on the board. Has nothing to do with his skin color. Strong on one leg is simply a more gifted passer than Hurts and anyone that isnt wearing Hurts colored goggles can see that. Im not gonna apologize for wanting a tall QB when the average height of our Oline is 6'5. I just hope the kids knee holds up. If he shows out in camp/preseason, i dont believe we'll give Hurts all 17 games if he's still lackluster as a passer.

It’s not a race issue. I’ve been critical and bashed foles in his first stint here in 2014 when he was playing poorly, i hated Kevin kolb and was critical of him from the time they drafted him, i was critical of vick in 2011 and 2012, i was critical of wentz in 2020 and even the first half of 2019 and i freaking ripped into sam Bradford his one year here and after he whined about the drafting of wentz. This isn’t a race issue. This is if you aren’t good enough as a passer and good enough as a quarterback help us win a title you are going to be criticized and everything is going to be scrutinized because we want to win a SB. We expect to win one and that really only happens if you get good quarterback play. This race issue is a bunch BS by some fans of the fan base who don’t want to accept that hurts like foles like wentz like Bradford like vick like kolb and like mcnabb have their flaws they either couldn’t overcome or needed to improve to get to the next level.

You people obsess too much on individual statistics. Last time I checked, it's a TEAM game.

The threshold for Hurts is simple, given the talent around him, this offense should be top ten in yards and offensive points. If it's top five, pay the man what he wants.

Now I don't care HOW he gets it done, as long as he gets it done. They don't give extra points for the Russian judges giving you a 9.5.

I'll take a wounded duck for a TD over a perfect spiral for an interception.

So you preface your post by saying it’s a team game, which I agree with.

Then you contradict yourself saying if we’re top 5 in points, we must pay Hurts what he wants. So it’s on Hurts and not a team effort anymore?

Let’s assume for the sake of argument that Hurts’ arm really is the driving force behind a top 5 offense. You don’t pay someone for one year of great production. That’s how we got into Wentz’s contract, and I liked Wentz at the time, but never felt he deserved that contract when he got it.

Hurts not only needs great production from his arm, but he needs to do it against the better teams we’ll face, and most especially in the playoffs, and he needs to do it more than one season before we "pay him what he wants”.

I wonder if we’ll be "sasified” with our QB1 this year.

Now when I start making love to my woman
I don't stop until I know she's sex-ified
And I can always tell when she gets sex-ified
because when she gets sas-fied she start calling my name
She'd say: 'Clarence Carter, Clarence Carter, Clarence Carter
Clarence Carter, ooh ish, Clarence Carter'
The other night I was strokin' my woman
And it got so good to her, you know what she told me
Let me tell you what she told me, she said:
'Stroke it Clarence Carter, but don't stroke so fast
If my stuff ain't tight enough, you can stick it up my' woo!

Agreed 1000%. Dont get me wrong, Strong is far from flawless. I just think he has a better base to work with than Hurts in terms of NFL QB traits. He's taller, stronger arm, quicker release & has better mechanics/footwork. We'll see if his accuracy, pre snap acumen and ability to go through his progressions translates to this level. All i know is he landed in the perfect situation to potentially carve out a successful career as a statue esque pocket passer. Just needs that knee to hold up. If he stinks we'll criticize him just like every other QB that's donned the midnight green

This. It happens even with foles during the super bowl run. And when he took over the following year he was criticized for his missed throw to ertz in the saints playoff game and his picks in the bears game. This isn’t an exclusive he’s block QB so he’ll get grilled more and we want to get rid of him. If jalen hurts was playing like Aaron Rodgers or was josh Allen but black no one would be as critical and would be thrilled. The race issue comes down to the hurts fan club can’t accept the fact he has flaws that he may or may not be able to overcome and if someone doesn’t believe he’s going to be able to do so or don’t believe he’s destined to be on the josh Allen fast track then it’s cause he’s a black QB. 95% of this city/fan base wouldnt give a flying F what color our QB was if he gave us tom brady, mahomes, rodgers or josh Allen type play consistently.

Exactly - He's a placeholder for a draft pick or FA that has top 5-10 QB potential.  He may be worth keeping around for the 4th year of his rookie deal.

And those of us pointing out the flaws wanted to trade for Watson, Wilson, some wanted to draft fields, and would be ecstatic to get CJ Stroud or Anthony Richardson.

Wonder if there's any chance Watson plays in 2022 now. He may have had that "out of sight, out of mind" aspect of it working in his favor until more accusations have come to light in recent days and weeks. If the NFL is even remotely concerned about PR(and they may not be) then I don't see how he doesn't get all of 2022 at a minimum.

Giving him, say, 8 games when others have gotten 6 for far lesser allegations would not be a good look.

This is the troll who has half the board on ignore, because he does not want to be called out for absurd takes like this.

And of course he skips over the fact that his "C strong thoroughbred" said the exact same as Lurie after practice last week.

@Moderator6 time for someone to do something about this nonsense.  Either take away his ignore feature so he can get what is coming to him for his trolling takes, or just bounce him, again.

well he's not retiring

It’s why i bring up with their ppg was against playoff teams. The defense sucked but i knew they were going too. The offense also had their own whole set of issues when they faced playoff caliber teams. That’s who you have to beat to win a SB. It’s not going to be the Detroit lions or falcons of the world (as currently constructed). So when you average 19.2 ppg against playoff teams that’s not good enough even if the defense was playing good in those games. Heck we had a bunch of late tds  scores in those games that the game was decisively decided. So those scores dress it up much nicer. It wasn’t just hurts but he was a major part of it

i hope to god Hurts takes a massive step up as a passer and destroys playoff defenses this year. Cause imo the eagles roster is capable of winning a playoff game and even beating a team like GB in a division round game if hurts takes that step. If you put a top 8 Qb in the league in this team, we are talking potential SB contender. The two biggest questions imo this team has is safety and how much of an improvement we have at QB.

Story came out last week before the latest suit that the Browns were "preparing not to have Watson at all in 2022".  I think there's a good chance the NFL was already aware of these latest two cases.

Makes you wonder if the Browns haven't dealt or cut Mayfield because they think they might need him for a full season.

Just imagine if Jalen Hurts was white.  He wouldn't have half the support his does right now.  Hurts race is the most important thing for a lot of fans out there.  For most of us, we couldn't care less what race he is.  We want a top QB.  Not a below average QB who can run the ball.

Jalen Hurts is trending to be a more mobile Baker Mayfield.  No one wants Baker Mayfield.
