I'm sorry I brough such a depressing topic into the blog.  A little back story without too much detail. I met my friend 12 years ago during an AF commissioning program. He was on top of the world

Safeties should be Epps, Tartt, Chachere (a true ST ace), Harris (be default) and maybe Mayden if he shows up.

I am interested to see how Reed Blankenship does.

It's such a strange situation.  There are the folks who can see that Hurts probably won't be good enough and there's this other side who is strangely obsessed with ever move he makes and if we criticize him we are being too critical.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go home and put some more water in @NCiggles mama's dish.

Forgot about him. He’s an interesting player. Would like to see him bulk up some.

Might only be that polarized on this board due to member issues.  I think he is very limited, I want him to succeed if possible and also to be benched fairly quickly if he continues to (1) not make pre-snap reads correctly, (2) take off when he should have pulled the trigger, and (3) simply be inaccurate on a consistent basis. IMO all three of these will be true. However, if he fixes (1) and it results in better execution of the offense, I'll be happy. Also, IMO, it is a year and then the org can assess a new direction. So, expectations are not set as a super bowl, more like a continued rebuild of the team and the QB position is part of the rebuild.

Jack Stoll grew his mullet back in. Big things coming for TE #2 just because of that.

As a QB I do and you are 100% right. There is nothing to look forward to until he is gone. Just wasted time.

I've been getting decent laughs at his attire so far. Plus watching people justify his bad play has been entertaining. They will jump through any hoop

I am on the other side. I think it's strange that people on here seem to think Hurts doesn't give the team the best chance to win and that if only the team, the media and NFL experts were as smart as they were, they could see it as well. I am not critical of people for criticizing Hurts. I am critical of people for having opinions that are detached from reality.

I am actually looking forward to the pre-season games because I would rather see Minshew and Strong at this point.

The only detached from reality posts are those thinking he will grow 4 inches and get an arm transplant and be Josh Allen.

He will always be limited in the arm strength and height department, and he has not really progressed in any of these weaknesses from his draft profile.

Weaknesses
  • Has issues sustaining rhythm as passer with so many off-schedule throws
  • Inconsistent patience allowing routes to develop
  • Slow recognition of early throw opportunities
  • Leaves slants and crossers behind targets
  • Misses checkdowns and opts for harder throws
  • Deep arm dip into elongated release
  • Forced speedsters at OU and Alabama to slow for deep throws
  • Needs to get better at trusting his pocket
  • Quick to drop his eyes when pressure mounts
  • More likely to void pocket than climb, scan and throw from it

Yep. I want them to be good every year, but when they aren't at least we can look forward to the following draft. Obviously, when they have a legit shot it's more exciting. Hurts puts them right in the middle where they won't improve either way and all we have to look forward to is frustration.

Hurts doesn't give the team the best chance to win if he plays like he did against the Giants in their first game.  Hurts has more ability as a playmaker with his legs than any QB on the roster.  He is not someone who is otherwise a low floor player.  He has shown he has both a low floor as a passer and nothing more than an average ceiling.  Minshew has been a functional passer as a back up.  I think they would have done better with him at times last season and possibly in the playoff game.  I am not sure the playoff game matters because the defense was too trash to win.  Hurts has more unrealized potential as a QB.  He was a relatively high investment as a pick.  I see no harm in seeing if he can become a better QB.  I also don't think there is any reason not to see if Minshew would do better if Hurts looks bad in the first few games.  If Minshew comes in and is JimmyG like, then the team could do much better than they will under Hurts.  I wouldn't mind Strong also getting a few games if they need to evaluate him.  My view is that Hurts should be on a short leash because unless he looks like an above average passer almost from the first game, he has no future here as a starting QB.

Believe it was mentioned Cam took the snaps at center.

Jurgens. Kelce didn't practice.

Didn't know Sirianni basically named Seumalo the starter at RG on Day 1 of camp. I think it's somewhat odd that someone that preaches competition so much never has any training camp battles at any position.

No, but I heard Ashley Judd sat down with her rapist for a 'restorative justice conversation'
