If Gardner Minshew was the starter and playing the way Hurts is as of today in camp, would people be coming up with excuses as to why?  Heaven forbid, Hurts just isn't playing well or is just average in practice.

Disagreement isn't the problem around here.

Bad manners, that's another issue.

Posting like you speak the gospel and not responding to any counterpoint is the biggest problem.

If anyone in the league thought Minshew could start, they would have traded for him, they could have offered a 5th last year.

This year, they could probably pry him away with a 3rd rd pick.

There hasn't been a single rumor about any team being interested in Minshew.

Mayfield was a salary dump by a team that wanted to get out of a bad situation - addition by subtraction.

Where you were picked doesn't matter 2-3 years later, once a QB is damaged goods, their value plummets, see Rosen, et al.

If Lawrence struggles again this year and is in the bottom 5, Jax would struggle to get a 1st rd pick for him. Same with Fields, Lance, et al., and especially after their 3rd season - if by year three you're not in the top 20 or so, you're headed toward a permanent position as a backup and hope you get a second chance due to injury. At that point, you're middle round pick trade value.

What do you think Dan Jones would garner in a trade?

The Eagles were a bottom 10 team prior to taking the ball out of Hurts last year.  They didn't even trust him to beat bad teams at the end of the year.  Never change brother...I wish I had your eternal optimism.

1) You said Hurts could fetch a 1st rounder. Danny Jones is ranked better then him, or right next to Hurts in almost every category so Danny Jones should get a 1st, according to you

2) Where you were picked does matter. It's well documented 2-3-5- years later that the higher the draft pick th more 2nd, 3rd, 4th chances you get. Ironically enough, you say Rosen. Rosen is STILL IN THE LEAGUE! on his 6th team.

3) Mariota, Winston, Cam Newton and countless others stink but get legit shots at starting roles cause of there draft position

At the end of the day, hurts is getting more chances than a normal average QB because he was a hometown 2nd round pick. If you cant see that, I cant help you.

1) No, I never said Hurts would fetch a 1st rd, I said a top 20 QB would fetch a first rounder, Hurts doesn't have the track record yet. There are a lot of young QBs who flash for a season then fade into the woodwork.

2) High picks get second chances b/c they're usually high picks for a reason (physical talent), but their value plummets as they fail to take advantage of those chances

3) They get shots at starting roles b/c the alternatives are even worse, go look at some of the backup QBs around the league. The reason a legitimate top 20 QB has value is he can take a good team to the playoffs, there are ten guys who'll start who will lose you games and cost HCs/GMs their jobs. If you don't have one of those top 20 or so, do you go with a JAG or gamble that you can get a guy who's done it before to do it again.

4) WTF is a "normal average QB?" Hurts is getting a chance to keep his job after taking his team to a playoff berth, and because a better alternative wasn't available at a reasonable price. He'll either improve or he'll be replaced when a better alternative comes along - but don't bet on a first rd pick, only 1-2 in any draft are worth a trade up, just drafting a QB is stupid, b/c most will be worse than Hurts.

And yes, drives sustained by the QB running that end up in scores count the same as drives sustained through beautiful passes.  Just win, baby.

When people repeat the same thing over and over, why bother?

I don't know what will happen, unlike some here with their crystal balls that allow them to make definitive statements and pose as all knowing experts.

I don't mean to pile on, since this may have been a pretty relaxed pitch and catch practice rep and I repeatedly say camp snippets don't matter, but ideally the ball isn't coming in on an arc for a comeback route.  That needs more zip in a game.

Kinda like him staring down a slot screen with a half arsed drop, then throwing a pass that would hit the LT in the back, and proceeding to dance for 2 mins?

I responded to your X QB gets X value in a trade post with Baker Mayfield, a top 20 QB,  a #1 overall pick who has won a playoff game being traded for a 2024 conditional pick.

Because this destroyed your point you did not respond.  You have a bad habit of that.

No wonder we knocked down the old pillars of the blog and replaced them with stronger pillars.

...lol...knocking people down is not part of disagreeing..it is a very childish behavior...you are not here for discussion...you are to here to talk negatively about the Eagles and sustain the narrative for gotcha and ITYS purposes which is great in TATE. This is what AFan is referring to...

He made a statement about top 20 quarterbacks and their trade value, Baker Mayfield’s trade disproved his statement, it’s not a gotcha it’s a fact?

That is the cop out that you guys use, you post like your opinion is gospel, and when someone presents facts that disprove your opinion, you go with the gotcha routine.

Yes, and as a kind of change-up, it supports sustained offense. Allen, Mahomes, Rogers, and Steve Young are all good examples of this. There are many more. However, if a defense can dedicate more players to stop the run because the QB (1) doesn't process quickly, (2) doesn't have an accurate or strong arm, and (3) tends to abandon a play too soon, then drives are not sustained because the defense is more efficient than the offense. Period. It's an issue of the balance needed to have sustained drives against NFL players and D coordinators, not a prejudice about how the ball gets over the line.

Yes, and I owned you when you kept bringing up opinions as facts about Carson Strong's knee...you back peddled and shut down....who cares....I prove nothing...I am not the bigger person for proving it...I considered it part of the discussion...have a take and let people have an opposing opinion without the need to knock them down...it makes you look petty

as far as "you guys", you too post opinion as fact and even quote yourself as a source...which is very odd btw

Did not prove me wrong about Strongs knee.

And I don’t quote myself as a source, I just quote my post if my previous response applies to another post.

The football discussion is besides the point.

Learn to co-exist. Stop making it your goal (not just you) to knock down and replace.

Let your wins and losses that are so important to you just be part of the discussion. Dont worry so much about landing the knockout blow to end it.

I like you and 4for4 and the rest of that clique in here that always dominate RTK. But Im really tired of the tone in here that you guys bring.

Cant we all just get along?

You mean like afan assigning racist motives to people who dare disagree with his assessments?

afan is only remarkable for his unfounded ego and complete lack of self awareness.

wrong....you continued to post an article from a steelers site posting  DR's opinion...I proved that the DR was nothing but a uniformed opinion...you then moved the goal posts but who cares....it is just one example of your using opinion as fact to "knock people down"

That article was very knowledgeable, from a Dr who has experience with that injury and the success of recovery.  The only reason Strong was limited last year is he played to early with a brace, but it will have no impact on his long term prognosis.

I am sure our resident medical expert @HazletonEagle agrees.
