August 8, 20223 yr What i thought of when I saw Jalen Hurts running into the endzone and celebrating it.....in practice....after getting sacked.

Whenever the Eagles season ends this year, we wont be any closer at all to finding our QB. We'll just have double or triple verification that Hurts isnt it Given that, go out and make a move. What are we waiting for? We could have had Baker Mayfield, who I despise, for a low round pick. We could have Garappolo. Are these guys the long term answer? Of course not. But theyre serious QBs and right now we dont have a serious QB and are therefore not a serious team.

Sure looked like a couple,of Hurts’ runs were RO to freeze the rush on the LT (also shows Dillard’s value at this, point because the LT performance was a bit lacking last night). Eagles were down four Ts last night (Mailata, Dillard, Clark and Toth.) Guess that’s why they resigned Williams. I was encouraged to see Hurts throwing over the middle a few times. I believe some of the snaps in the 7 v 7 and 11 v 11 were defensive snaps to showcase for the fans some diverse looks. The offense used some RPO’s last night which did confuse the defense because they haven’t been running RPO’s in 11v11 all training camp. OT, With only 2 practices this week hopefully Sinnett gets most of the reps since he’ll probably get most of the playing time on Friday.

Sinnett has a better arm than Minshew but just going by scouting and what they did in college, Minshew is probably a step above Sinnett especially with his NFL experience. Minshew is done here. Maybe if the Eagles would have had a legit competition (the thing they say theyre obsessed about) then this scenario would be possible But clearly it was lip service and Hurts was the guy, so Minshew has basically been f'ing around in a van all offseason because hes not taking it seriously. The organization needs to wash itself clean of Hurts immediately and the longer this goes on the more disastrous it will be. And this wont end after the season, even if Hurts has a bad year. Mark my words

Note that designed roll outs are generally less effective b/c defenses plan for them and it takes away half the field (hard to throw left when you run right) - but scrambling out of the pocket is different, because the defense is aligned to stop the pocket throw and has to adjust on the fly to the scramble. That's not exactly true. For decades now, DCs have structured their defenses against the mobile QBs with limited ability from the pocket to keep them INSIDE the pocket and to force them to throw while moving away from their dominant arm. We saw it years ago against Michael Vick. We saw it again in the playoffs against Hurts. The Bucs loaded up the right side and came at him from that direction forcing him to the left for both throws and runs. When the QB is limited from inside the pocket, it opens up creativity for the DC to find ways to attack the weaknesses of that QB, which usually means, making him throw and more importantly, making him throw where he doesn't want to. A shorter QB, like Hurts, with limited vision, as we've seen from Hurts - is going to struggle in the pocket unless he learns to actually play from inside the pocket... learns how to move within the pocket to find throwing (and vision) lanes. Learns to go through the progressions quickly and come off the primary target quickly. Hurts running around in 7 on 7 drills is the WORST possible thing for him to do from a long term development standpoint. It's practice and unless he practices how to stay in the pocket, he'll never learn how to do it in a game. Brady has never been considered a 'mobile' QB by any means at any point in his career, including college... but what he did learn is how to move, even subtly, within the pocket to avoid the rush. His OL know where he is going to be, and have an easier time running their DL around that spot. Hurts, on the other hand, drops his eyes when the opposite jersey color flashes, and he runs backwards as often as he runs forward. He doesn't climb the pocket. And by trying to always escape out the backdoor, he runs himself into trouble as often as he avoids it. Granted, right now, he has the athleticism to get away with that the majority of the time as he can also evade the guy he has just run into to... but that will fade, and it will fade quickly. Wentz had great escapability for a big man in 2016 and 2017. Then he blew out his knee, and that was gone forever. He still tries it, but it doesn't work. And we see what it has turned him into. Hurts is following a similar path, but with a weaker arm, and shorter stature. He's going to struggle dramatically as soon as just a bit of that mobility starts to go. 6 minutes ago, 4for4EaglesNest said: Huh? As in, gone for good. Will not return. Has had enough.

Mark my words The Eagles have two 1st round picks in a stacked QB draft. Howie will find a way to get a QB, just like he did with Wentz. Have to hope that the Saints pick is top 10, or teams with multiple firsts are in a less favorable position to trade up.

Did you see what Tampa did last year in the playoffs ?? They stopped the run, and pinned Hurts in the pocket as they were not scared about him beating them with his arm.

Yes those options are infinitely better than pretending Hurts has a future in the league as a starter. Those guys do, Hurts doesnt We're wasting time tailoring the entire offense to a running QB. Sprinting down this cul de sac like we have no idea where it goes. What is the point of AJ Brown? We're already wasting Devonta Smith's career, I guess he needed a buddy?

Hurts has looked like the best QB on the team. He should, getting 80% or more of the snaps I'm guessing and all with the probable starters. I wonder how they'd compare if everybody got the same number of snaps and Rotated equally playing with 1st, 2nd and 3rd level receivers.
