I still think the Eagles need to look in to trading Hargrave rather than extending.

From the sounds of it Marvin Wilson and Marlon Tuipulto have been playing very well.  I doubt either would clear waivers.

Jordan Davis, Milton Williams, Marvin Wilson and Marlon Tuipulto gives you a very young, inexpensive group of DT to go along with Fletcher Cox.

I disagree, totally and utterly.

I'm sorry I brough such a depressing topic into the blog.  A little back story without too much detail. I met my friend 12 years ago during an AF commissioning program. He was on top of the world

Not only is it a no, but I am really looking forward to watch Hargrave play alongside Davis.

I don’t see what’s wrong with this interview?

Did he just spin around in a clean pocket?

That’s what I saw - he just spun around in a clean pocket and got back to where he started.

Let's see how Tuip and Wilson (and Wren) look against the backup Cleveland OL before granting them a roster spot, much less as the heirs to Hargrave.

Last game was not impressive, Tuip did not anchor well, and he wasn't drafted to be a one gap pass rusher.

And this is how you use exhibition games, to check whether players WITHOUT A TRACK RECORD are as good in a game as they look in practice.

They shouldn't extend him but no reason to trade him unless the return is ridiculous

Difference between what we saw Allen do and what we see Hurts do is that spin was tight, he stayed upright and he stepped back after that spin drew the DEs deeper while keeping his eyes downfield. He moved the pocket but operated in a tight area.  That is something we need to see from Hurts. Tighter movement and accepting a smaller pocket. He is making strides though. The clips I saw from the practices, albeit a small sample, show reason for a glimmer of hope.

Got a football scrimmage between to horrible high school teams out in the middle of nowhere today.

I bet there will be 2-3 QBs better than Hurts here.

3 QBs played. 4 were better than Hurts.

Mike McDaniel is super odd; I saw an interview of him at the Combine and thought he was stoned; not an issue but it turns out that is how he speaks.  He'll either be super over with the players or some will tune him out completely.

Why?  Hargrave is going to command a lot of money and going on 30 next year.  Davis is going to be special and Williams next to him is going to have opportunities to win 1-on-1 battles all day long.  If Wilson and Tuipulotu show they are capable of being DT4/5 this year that should give them plenty of experience to jump to DT3/4 next year and they could still address DT in FA or the draft if need be.

This is pretty good.   Click on the sheets.  Not a bad primer.

Also, Hargrave started the season on fire last year.

First 6 games.    6 sacks, 16 tackles, 7 TFL

Last 11 games.  1.5 sacks, 11 tackles, 2 TFL

Sorry, I'm not giving that guy an extension.  I'm dangling him for S/RB2/TE2 or a mid-round pick.

When is Carson Strong taking over?

Right, Hurts track record is right on part with Donovan in year 6.  He doesn't need any work.

He was going to take off and run but the LT blocked the end in to that running lane so he spun back in to the pocket.

Yup,I Iike Hargrave but I think extending him would be a mistake.

Back during Reid and banner days no way Hargrave would see another contract.

Seems Howie has moved away from that a bit signing older guys to multi year contracts and it's but him in the butt a few times

I could see Howie extending Hargrave though I wouldn't be a fan of that move

Seriously?  Yes, Hargrave and Cox are here for a year.  But one of Wilson, Marlon T.  And one of Smith, Wren will make it to the PS.  But none of those four offer what Hargrave will and while the salary savings is significant, it’s a significant cap hit.  I think you overvalue what one year at $12 million will net in trade for Hargrave versus keeping him.

Speaking of DTs, I am hoping we see some 4i or modified 3/3/5 with Wren over the center tomorrow.

Let this be a lesson, don’t ever compare Allen and Hurts again.

Comparing anyone to Allen is absurd. Allen is unique.

Quincy Williams got fined for that hit on Hurts.

I'd have to imagine they will give him some sort of playing time at the  end of the 4th if Hurts doesn't play to start the game.  Either way how he plays it will be entertaining to see how people in here react to it.

I would argue that Hurts has a track record.

No where did I ever say that any of the young guys can offer talent wise what Hargrave does.  Hargrave is an asset right now.  He has an expiring contract and they have young players ready to go (Davis/Williams).

Are we getting 6 sacks in 6 games Hargrave or are we getting 1.5 sacks in 11 games?
