The ideal would be a tackle who can play guard - like Herremans, and Todd was a fourth rounder.

I think Driscoll would project as an ideal (backup) OG/OT hybrid that moves around.  The problem is he has demonstrated a complete inability to stay on the field with sustained snaps.

He's not big enough for NT so I agree with that, but he plays with really good pad level, i.e. low, and he has excellent hands. When we go to an alignment with a NT, Davis will be that guy. Hargrave is ideal at the 4i or 3-tech as he is our best interior pass rusher.

He played NT for Pittsburgh and played it very well.

It was cool to unlock his pass rush ability here last year. But if he has to play NT he will be totally fine.

Will I see the great Carson Strong today or are we saving him for the regular season Brady Mahomes style?

I think hes not going to play any competitive reps in joint practice or pre-season games and is going on IR.

Which would make we wonder if its the knee or he just has mush for brains…

Real or imaginary injury? I hadn't heard he was currently dinged up. Stash him?

Im guessing the eagles may have figured the knee isnt ready for a season of football.

Theyll let him practice as much as they can before they have to designate him to IR. He will spend the rest of the season rehabbing more. And be ready to compete with the rookie they draft high in next years draft.

I dont think there is anything wrong with his brains. Theres no reason to believe that. He showed good processing ability in college going through reads and making good decisions.

If reports about his poor attitude are true, they may just cut their losses with him.

A lot of these bottom end roster guys being talked about will be released and brought back onto the practice roster.  Those who are not brought back onto the practice roster, then we can assume they had a bad camp/the Eagles have no use for them.

Im sure they knew about his attitude and sitll paid him bigly.

I think its all about the knee. Theyll IR him and plan on having him beyond this offseason.

This presumes they like him enough to keep him in the fold.

I'm okay with that. Protect the knee. Would like to see him against NFL Defenses but patience...

He moved well in offseason workouts and the eagles paid him a ton of money. I assumed the knee was well enough to play.

Considering no team drafted him, and at this point with 0 plays in the game, and no reps in joint practices its becoming clear they are protecting him from live action.

I think there is plenty of reason to believe they like him enough. This seems more like a health thing.

Coming from you, I'll take that as a reasonable conclusion...:Eagle_smiley:

Well watch, he will play an entire half today.

Watching the replay of the Chargers v Dallas game for the first time.

Just started the second Qtr, Palmer is tearing it up. Is he that good? Seems so.

Maybe I misread this post, @mattwill, is this not the projected lineup moving into the season?

Regardless of rankings, is it not the best deployment of our resources to use both these guys to rip the heart out of opposing Offensive lines?

Not tracking your thinking here...unless you are just disagreeing with the assessment..

I disagree with the assessment, but further when crafting the best use of the four DT resources I would fully expect a Defensive Coordinator and his Defensive Line Coach to align the four players in such a way that both of the resultant pairings are potent adversaries for the opposition.  The obvious exception to that is goimng to be if one of the four players is not at the same quality level as the other three.  We have certainly seen that in recent years, but that is not the case for this team.  We have two seasoned veterans and two ascendant newbies.  So the most logical pairings are Cox-Davis and Hargrave-Williams or Hargrave-Davis and Cox-Williams.  Which of those two choices do you prefer?

Wouldn’t hate the idea of using an early pick on Lane’s eventual replacement in the next draft. Would lock down 4 young guys on the OL for next 3 years

I would prefer them to use a 7th Round pick.

I think Hargrave Davis is the most effective for now. Cox is slowly sliding into spot duty, Williams needs reps but like his game, Rotate and keep em fresh and I'd take any of those permutations tho.

It is true, he thinks garlic bread is a good side dish for steak. They need to get him off the team asap.

Assuming the starters don't play, who are you watching today?

-Cam Jurgens.  Can he keep it up and dominate like last week?

-Patrick/Kyron Johnson.  Both are getting decent reviews.  Can they make impact plays on D/ST?

-Josh Jobe/Zech McPherason. These two are the top outside CB right now.  Can they hold it down?  McPhearson is safe, can Jobe separate himself from Gowan and the rest?

-Reed Blankenship.  Does he make plays or is he the Alex Singleton at safety collecting meaningless tackles.

-Brittain Covey.  It's time to see a return more than 10 yards.  Can he make plays out of the slot?

-Kenneth Gainwell.  He's had some pretty bad reviews.  Eagles desperately need a RB2 to step up.

-Andre Dillard.  Penalty last week, fights in camp and concussion.  If the starters on both teams don't play, I want to see him dominate the 2s.

-Josiah Scott-  I want to see him play at safety.

-Nakobe Dean-  Let's see him make some plays.

-Ugo Amadi.  Did JJAW bring them anything of value or was it a wash?

-Grant Calcaterra.  I'm guessing we might see him in a limited role.  Can he make some of these acrobatic catches during the game?

-Marvin Wilson/Marlon Tuipulotu.  Are they improving as much as reports are?  Can they make my Hargrave trade talk carry any weight?

-Minshew/Sinnett/Strong.  Let's see some consistent backup QB play.  Help the younger WR make some plays.

-Quez Watkins.  Like Dillard, if he's going against the 2s, I want to see him take over.  His speed should be on display.

That’s a good list. I’ll add one name; Togiai. He had an excellent game against the Jets. He has a chance.

I agree it is a good list, and I like the addition by justrelax.  I would add Jaquiski Tarrtt ... will we see him play?

Can't have that. Needs to go, Now!

You're right. He did. But Pittsburgh plays a different style than we do. Their NT shades to one of the A gaps. We want an NT who can cover both A gaps, a true NT.

Here are two screenshots that I think show the difference.

Davis on the nose.

We don't play the 4i all the time, of course so Hargrave wouldn't be asked to play the 0-tech much, if at all.

Why put new turf in the week of a game? Did it get that badly torn up last week? Seems like something they should have done before preseason started

The job of On the Nose suits Davis more than Hargrave in my mind but both are very effective inside. Gannon's job to put em where they excel.
