We have Dillard/Jurgens on the bench and yet Driscoll/Opeta are the ones playing major snaps off the bench every week, thus continuing the paradox of this OL.

Dillard was hurt, otherwise he would have played in weeks 4-5 over Driscoll. Opeta for Dickerson is a drop-off, but still better.

OL play is generally bad in the league. Cleveland aside, I struggle to find a better, more complete unit. Detroit has awesome tackles, but their iOL is banged up. Atlanta's front can run the ball, but can't hold up in pass pro. The Saints have the best C-RG-RT in the NFL, but have Hurst at LT.

It's rough out there.

Hey guys just wanted to wish you all luck with your Phillies. I hope they go all the way for you. Hurts still looking pretty good as is the whole team. Maybe Siri isn't the doofus that he looks like. I also wanted to post a picture of this bad boy I took up in Maine in Sept.

Never really understood the fascination with shooting animals?

Can someone enlighten me?

Dillard being hurt isn’t really an excuse, considering we are talking about the fact the OL is hamstrung by an inability to stay healthy.

We have won multiple games this year that otherwise would have been losses if not for the OLs ability to abuse teams on the ground.  They were/are a weapon.  It’s not often an OL can be utilized as a weapon in the way one would describe a WR.  So that’s outstanding.

But we’ve also had multiple games this year where we’ve had to alter and constrain the game plan because of the OLs inability to create a pocket and the inability to run behind one side….of course, all due to injuries.  But that was a problem for them multiple times this year (probably will continue to be)…so I have a hard time thinking of them as a top 3 unit.

Government hasn't legally approved killing humans due to overpopulation....yet.

Ok…here’s an exercise.  Without looking up stats, just going off feel…rank where you think each unit on the team is relative to the rest of the nfl based on these 6 games only:

QB: top 10, not top 5

RB: top 10, not top 5

WR/TE: Top 5

OL: Top 5

DL (including edge): just outside top 5

LB: Top 10

DB: #1

ST: not top 20

QB: top 15

OL: top 3, 1 if they could stay healthy.

everything else I agree with you.

I'm pretty sure @greend eats what he kills.

Hunters pour a lot of money into preservation programs (as much of a paradox as that may seem) and with certain animals, they help with population controls. They also support a lot of environmentally protected areas and keep them protected.

I don't think I could ever kill an animal myself (unless in an extreme, emergency situation), but hunters who do so legally and under controlled programs contribute a lot to the environment.

The Big Game stuff in Africa is super odd, as it basically is killing just for fun and nothing else.

Yea, I dont get that either.

But my uncle goes to Maine, Canada, and gets some big ass Caribou, moose, and Grouse. I LOVE GROUSE. It;s like a sexy, more delicate, better flavor chicken

I hate grouse. I don't hunt, but do a lot of backcountry hiking/canoeing/camping; those jerks will sit just off trail until you're right upon them, then fly up making all the noise in the world. Scared the ish outta me countless times.

I don't think our defensive line is anywhere close to top 5. There are guys there who get a lot of playing time who aren't all that good. The Washington game was fun to watch because of the relentless pass rush but I think that display was primarily because of their offensive line rather than our defensive line.

Fair point.  But that becomes a philosophical question.

Take Hurts.  Do I think he’d be a top 10 qb without this OL and these weapons?  Nope.  But right now, he is.  Results > what ifs.

Do I think this is a top 5 DL without playing in front of arguably the NFLs best secondary?  Without playing some very slow release turnover prone qbs?  Probably not.  But I can’t argue with what they’ve done this year.

Meat does not come from stores.  It comes from animals.  Because of the meat industry, modern society has forgotten that your hamburger or Popeyes chicken sandwich comes from an animal that was killed.  You just don't see it because it comes in a package at the store.  An animal still died and probably lived a incredibly crappy life being raised to become meat in horrible conditions that don't remotely resemble a real life.

To me, hunting an honest way to obtain your sustenance through nature.  We eat what we kill.  Elk and oryx meat is delicious and it isn't loaded with hormones or fed GMO's.  Instead of buying ground beef or steaks, we have meat all year round from one animal.  To me, hunting, fishing and gathering food from nature is how we as humans were meant to live.

I hunt with a bow/arrow and a muzzleloader.  It is more sporting than some of the rifles that can now shoot out to 700 yards accurately.  You have to get close, out maneuver the animal's senses and, in most cases, you only have one shot.

Lastly, I just enjoy being in nature whether hunting, fishing, camping, hiking etc.  It makes it even more enjoyable that I get to spend time with my brothers and friends away from the distractions of modern society.  Some of my best times have been huddled around a campfire.

More schedule talk. The Eagles have 11 games left and 10 will be against bad offenses. Only the Saints at 5th in points and 11th in yards don't suck on offense.

  • Giants x2   18 25
  • Cowboys  23 27  (maybe 19 23 is a better read with Dak?)
  • Packers  24 15
  • DC  29 24
  • Bears  31 28
  • Texans  26 30
  • Titans  21 31
  • Colts  27 14
  • Steelers   30 29

Wow. Hard not to get excited sitting where we are and going into the bye.   Get healthy and beat on some teams.

Do any football historians here know the history of why idiots at any point back in the day decided that putting the goal post at the front of the end zone was a good idea? How could anyone not have thought "hey, this is in the way” and thought to move it to the back of the end zone?

Plays like this make me not want the dude back next year. Then of course every handful of games he’ll have a monster game that makes you reconsider. This was bad though,

How did you make your head float like that in the picture?  Also, how much to make into a coat for me like this:

Looking at the schedule, just avoiding playing worse should do the trick.  Our game against the Cowboys should do no worse than 8-3 the rest season.

That said, it would be great to show that we can put together 4 solid quarters before we get to the playoffs.

Back in what day?  The CFL still has the goalposts at the front of the end zone.  It provides levity when a QB hits a goal post trying to throw out of his own end zone.

My exact first thought as well

Pretty sure most hunters kill for fun.  It’s not like they’re justifying it as their public duty, like being in a jury or helping others in need.

It’s not for me at all, but every hunter I know eats what they kill. None do it just for the fun of it only, and then just leave the carcass there. But you’re right, they definitely enjoy the "hobby”
