Would love Burns here, but I worry his signing would mean the departure of Bradberry and/or CGJ next season.

Along with a Hurts extension looming soon

Yup. Granted Burns is actually worth a first plus, but still they've already played this game earlier this week.

Interested to see how Will Rogers performs against Alabama tonight. He seems like the perfect system QB to play here and hit our RAC guys in stride, on time. Accurate and on time.

Big fan of his , QB 4 or 5 for me , hoping for a productive game , but miss state don’t have a player in the top 100 in receiving yards , he spreads it around though .

yhey play a air raid system , in fact Miss State HC , Mike Leach created it

What they want does not matter. "If" and thats a big "If" Howie really called Im sure it was to see if they were going somewhat cheap like a 2nd or 3rd rounder. Lets be honest though the news always links us to most trades and FA pick ups. Most of our trades are ones that no one even heard about until it was done and completed.

You didn’t answer the question.

Soccer players don’t run unless the ball gets into their vicinity.  There are also frequent stoppages for free kicks, corner kicks, penalty kicks, throw ins, ref issuing yellow cards, etc.  It’s not a sport of constant motion.

Long distance running is an endurance test, as is triathlon, cross-country skiing.  Other than those sports, the full-contact sports come next in the hierarchy of physical endurance.

I stated team sports.

You might need to be physically "tougher" for full contact team sports but in terms of pure endurance, there are no other major team sports where an athlete runs (or jogs) for 90 minutes other than soccer.  Basketball players run/jog quite a bit but they are typically on the court for maybe 30-40 minutes at the most.  (With much more stoppage of play vs soccer).  Same with hockey, LaCrosse, etc.  (Not to mention the size of a soccer field is many times larger than a court, rink, etc)

Professional soccer players are on the field (for the most part) for two 45 minute halves plus overtime, in many cases.   Professional soccer players (on average) run/jog upwards of 7 - 10  MILES per match.

Name 1 other team sport where an athlete runs/jogs upwards of 7 - 10 miles per game.  There's really not much of a debate.

And for what its worth, I rarely watch soccer other than the World Cup.  I'd much sooner watch football, baseball, basketball and hockey.  But I still won't let my bias/preference for other sports take away the fact that soccer requires higher endurance than most (if not all) team sports.

So PFF has Sweat at 41 as a pass rusher and ESPN has Sweat at 6 in pass rush win rate.

This should be proof positive that these obscure stats are FOS and unreliable.

For what it’s worth, I think Sweat is playing quite well.

I have always downgraded PFF’s stats.  But part of the point of the analysis of the Eagles DL has to be to what degree they seal, to what degree do they shrink the pocket, to what degree do they hurry the QB.  QB hits and sacks matter but aren’t the be all of DL stats (Babin).  Being the splash play they have the wow factor, but just like offensive plays over 20 yards, they count but can’t be the main focus.  My view on Burns is he offers more than Jackson but I am not sure he offers enough to warrant the cost. I think @ToastJenkins said it well.  Burns for a first negates the value of the cheap contract.  The DL draft next year suggests stick with that.

Epps is playing better than CGJ but you won’t see it without watching the All22.

Lmao the Rams? They don’t have a 1st until like 2030

Man…that RB from Texas is going to be a beast in the league

Kind of.  Hal Mumme had a role in it and both have referenced in interviews in borrowing heavily from LaVelle Edwards’ passing scheme at BYU. But Leach has the coaching tree pedigree for the system.  What’s funny to me is how much of that coaching tree went through the University of Houston as it migrated from the Run ‘n Shoot that Pardee and June Jones learned from Mouse Davis to the Air Raid.

The last thing I want on this team is Burns.

He's too expensive in cap and picks and he's not a big upgrade.

I want to keep the picks and give the money to guys like Bradberry.

The Eagles got the correct Panthers edge rusher with 28 sacks the last 3 years. The guy with 22 is not an upgrade.

I walk 7 miles playing golf but without all the fake rolling around

lol

Most of the time professional soccer players are either jogging or running.  (Yes, even when the ball isn’t near them.  They advance/pull back in relation to the play on the field etc)  The only position that doesn’t move as much is goalie.

And as far as the "acting hurt/rolling around” from my understanding they do it on purpose in order to reduce dirty play/ get dirty players taken out; etc.  They basically do it to get the "goons” kicked out of the game.  But I tend to agree, it is rather annoying.

Lol flankers, 8s, fly half’s and scrum half’s in rugby would like a word. Easily crush soccer endurance considering the physicality

Guys if we're debating which sport requires the most raw athleticism the answer is obvious

One guy we still havent been putting in the the 1st round conversation much is Bo Nix.

Now that he is at Oregon, I wondered- How similar is he, as a passer, to Justin Herbert?

https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/justin-herbert-1.html

https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/bo-nix-1.html

I know this doesnt tell the whole story. Its just stats. But stats are damn close.

Where Herbert might have him by a decent margin is the passing TDs.

However, Nix is going to end up with a solid TD:INT ratio, and he scores more rushing TDs than Herbert did.

He may be a more mobile Herbert. Thats going to be a 1st round prospect.

Charbonnet is so good.

Yea but I think they actually mean it with Burns. McCaffrey is a RB, making a lot and has injury issues. It makes sense to offload a guy like that at the beginning of a rebuild. Burns is a building block at a premium position. Wouldn’t make sense to trade him unless it’s an offer they can’t refuse.
