Looks like Watt will play.

Brady lost his marriage over this disaster of a season, pretty wild.

He adds a whole other dimension to that defense.  Won’t be an easy game

Good to have Lane back for this.

Sweet. She's back on the market. I been waiting. Hopefully Bacarty or Antonio Brown don't beat me to her.

Oh god, not the meat convos again.

Falter sucks. And falters. Maton will be nice to have off the bench.

Dude, what true Philadelphian hates the Phillies? This postseason has taken me back to 08 and 93. Got a crap ton of gear ready.

I’m not buying anything with World Series on it unless they win

I can't believe we're going to have to sweat out whether we get a top 8 pick or a top 20 pick.

Howie effectively traded Jalen Reagor straight up for Robert Quinn plus a swap of 4th Round picks with Minnesota.

If their season keeps going downhill,  I wonder if Bowles will survive.

My theory is they didn’t break up because he came back; he came back because they broke up

I don’t think the Eagles will make anymore moves…if they do I hope it’s for backup CB or safety.  Roll with who we have at RB.

I like the idea of Jabril Peppers just because he can probably add some depth as a 3rd safety but really because of his return ability.

I'd prefer Cordarrelle Patterson strictly off the fact that he can play returner as well. I'm so tired of this team neglecting KR for what seems like forever now.

I thought Patterson was on IR until week 9 which, I think, would mean he cannot be traded before the deadline.

For bloggers like @Outlaw and me, it is Fashion Fit Friday!  BBQ talk is on Saturdays during the season, Smoking Saturdays.

I'm curious if a restructure did happen prior to the trade.  This is what it looked like prior to the trade:

Year Age Base Salary Prorated Bonus Roster Bonus Workout Bonus   Guaranteed Salary   Cap
Number
Cap %
Dead Money & Cap Savings
Cut (pre-June 1)Cut (post-June 1)Trade (pre-June 1)Trade (post-June 1)RestructureExtension

2020 📝 30 $3,000,000 $3,100,000 $12,500,000 $0   $15,500,000   $6,100,000 2.9%

And today:

Year Age Base Salary Workout Bonus   Cap

2022 32 $1,120,000 $0   $684,444 0.3%

His base salary went from 3 to 1.1 million.  Given we are less than halfway through, I would expect the base salary to be over 1.5 million.  What is interesting about the new table, it shows base salary at 1.1 and the cap hit just a tad over 50%.  Also, look at the bears dead cap hit for him.  $16,453,056.  I would have expected it to be $12,712,500.  So I'm wondering if THAT was the change in contract and if that's the case, its entirely possible they added a void clause to the last two years to ensure he becomes a FA.

Pure speculation given the limited information available.

The low Dead Money amount compared to the Base Salary amount is almost surely due to the fact that he is a vested veteran, and the CBA has a provision in it that vested veterans under certain conditions only count against the Cap at the Vested Veteran minimum salary, which is the $1,120,000 amount, which is then reduced to the 61.1% remaining portion of the Eagles' schedule.

Told you...

After that stupid rant in response to my post you realized I am right.

Guarantee Howie saw not just the player,  but the opportunity that contract presented. He traded for a player and probably close to 20M in cap space over the next 2 years.

 You legit thought this was some grand cap savings move

Turns out they rented a player on a cheap one year deal.  Nothing more.

Maton vs. Maton and Nola vs. Nola were two of the trivia items from this season of play.

Thank you for that detail.

This is the history (before it gets wiped) of his Chicago contract

Quote

Robert Quinn signed a 5 year contract with the Chicago Bears on March 18, 2020.  Contract is worth $70 million with $30 million guaranteed at signing.  Quinn received a $3 million signing bonus, along with full guaranteed salaries in 2020 and 2021.  Quinn will earn a $12.5 million roster bonus on March 23, 2020.  The roster bonus was fully guaranteed at signing, per CBA will be pro-rated over the contract.  Quinn can earn $100,000 work out bonuses in 2021-2024.

Quinn restructured his contract on October 8, 2021 converting $4.55 million of his salary to a bonus. The move created $3.412 million in cap space for the Bears. Quinn's cap number will increase by $1.1375 million in each of the next three seasons.

There was no cap savings at all, we took on the remaining salary the Bears didn't eat.

Nelson stinks. Hopefully he is only pitching when the Phillies are up 10-2 in the 8th inning.

Is he any worse than Falter in a relief role?

Ummm.. you also thought he had the best contract for restructuring.

Nice try.

I know.  But this is HE we are talking about.  You get brilliant posts like that and when he's completely destroyed just starts replying with "wrong".  No wonder why he can't get out of Hazelton.
