Official Eagles announcement.   14 PS

Allen, Brooks, Cain, Covey, Clark, Awosika, Ellis, Goodrich, Harris, Leo, Sinnett, Togiai, Tom, Wilson

How come the Eagles always screw up their alphabetizing? They do it on their website all the damn time with their roster.

Also included in the new rule are a few curve balls.

The NFL currently has 14 IPP players and they are now allowed to terminate their IPP contract and sign a practice player contract.

This new deal requires said players to remain on the practice squad for at least three games, but after that, they can be brought up.

However, if a team lifts the original IPP exemption, they cannot put the player back on it.

Right. But the Eagles aren't lifting the IPP exemption and giving him a practice player contract. He's just on the PS as an IPP exemption and can't be activated to the main roster.

We are loaded at LB (did I really just write that?) but I always felt Taylor looked very promising in some games last season.

Hope he returns.

He definitely shut me up. Funny how they were talking him up in the press conference when behind the scenes they were working to dump him.

Yup!

Seems a usual scenario. Practiced everywhere. Still works. Good on the Front Office.

"Let's tell everybody what we are doing and see if the kind souls around the League will help us out"...sorta never works.

Debate the ROI and all that but shedding deadweight and moving forward is a good thing. Go Howie Robbery!

People have ridiculous expectations when it comes to drafting.

In an average draft, if you land 2 solid starters and one decent backup, you're doing well.

2020 - Hurts, Watkins but also Driscoll and Bradley. Wallace TBD.

And then you hit HRs:

2018 - no 1st rd pick (Wentz) but Goedert, Maddox, Sweat, Pryor, Mailata.

2020 looks like a list of really good backups.  Which one is the solid starter?

I think with Dean, Taylor was redundant.

Probably didn't officially sign his contract

They have 2 slots open.  My guess is both of those go to guys from other teams (Perine and another) but they can't announce until they officially sign?

I think Taylor gets claimed. He seems like the type a different coaching staff would want to get their hands on.

Has the Dallas Cowboys written all over it.

BS narrative. Sure we missed on two WRs, and badly. Meanwhile we hit on linemen. Other teams missed there, hit here.

And I don’t agree with that idea of: ‘Just listen to the pundits, they know’ either. Just look at the Raiders.

It’s just stupid to focus that hard on a few bad picks while our team clearly is making great progress and is in the great scheme of things very successful.

We can be glad even the choices that fail return capital. And that’s especially true for failed QBs.

No BS narrative.  This was and has been about JJAW and Reagor.

And I don't need to listen to the pundits.  I had Jefferson over Reagor the whole time.   The Eagles didn't.  But hey, they are the professionals, they must know better, right?

It's August 31st, and Reagor and JJAW are finally gone.   I will enjoy it and share what I'd like on the topic.   Tomorrow is Sept 1, and the start of the regular season in my mind.  I'll be optimistic tomorrow and focus on the great progress.  In the meantime, I'll still bemoan the failures in the draft that led to the need to trade their first round pick from 2020 for peanuts.

Per Twitter, his agent tweeted the agreement, just needs to sign.  One PS spot to go and when Reagor deal clears, a roster spot opens up.

Yes.

Or if you want to go by the reality that just about everyone had JJ as the obvious next best WR on the board.  Or that I was on that bandwagon the entire time.  Or you recognize that prior to Smith being selected in 2020, the Eagles were on roughly a 12 year span of not being able to find a WR in the draft that would amount to anything in the NFL, but sure ... let's hide behind the idea that there was no history of failure at the position historically and that 'every team misses' ... or that Reagor and JJAW were somehow the consensus obvious selections when the Eagles were on the clock.

Howie crapped the bed.  Fortunately, he was able to find a team dumb enough to give him something in return.

The trade of Reagor is a great thing, but it pales in comparison to the failure the selection was in the first place.  Brutal, brutal failure.

Maclin was drafted in '09.  I mean you also have to consider that things like them taking Jordan Matthews over Davante Adams.

You kinda glossed over a few other years drafts there bud.

2018 was a decent draft, but by comparison to other Howie's drafts it was a HR.  In reality it was ok.

As a whole Howie has sucked at the draft but that draft is much better than OK. Pro bowl caliber TE, pass rusher capable of double digit sacks, starting nickle CB, and above all else a franchise LT in the 7th round.

The good news is at the very least, none of the LB taken after Taylor have really shined either.  I was a big Akeem Davis-Gather guy but he hasn't done much.  Most productive guy has been Tae Crowder for the Giants.

Bad news is there were quite a few productive DL taken after Taylor as well as some decent WR.

Howie has actually missed on one transaction in the last 48 hours … he let Jack Anderson go to the Giants as a waiver rather than as a trade.  I’m bummed about that miss!

Actually, even before this last draft, Howie was in the middle of the pack when you weigh draft picks by draft position.
