Douglas was in NY with the Jets for the 2020 draft.

Howie's fault, if he has any, is that he is too collaborative.  Letting Douglas make the Taylor pick eventhough he's not with the team is just a classy move.

So outside of practice off the field the league can intervene (Deshaun Watson and countless other incidents) and on the field during a game they league can act.  But practice….?  Nope. Leagues hands are tied.

I don’t buy it.   Not for extreme cases.  The league should have forced LA’s hands a bit.

Games are televised and licensed by the nfl, so they have the right to enforce fines or suspensions.

If an assault charge had been filed for the incident, then the nfl may have stepped in as an off the field issue.

Did you couunt Countess and Pryor as misses? Each of them have had an NFL career.  So I don't think they were misses.

Yeah, as much as we didn't like Pryor, he has to count as a hit. The guy has started in the NFL and from what I hear, is scheduled to start for the Colts this season.

It's almost like the players don't really care where they play.

Show me a poster on this board who says they wouldn’t take 8 million to work for the cowboys for three months and I’ll show you a liar. No hate from me

Jason Peters with the Cowturds is just wrong. You've earned your loot, and then some. Don't ruin your Eagles rep further ( taking big chunks on IR for his last 4 years) by playing for a hated rival. Situational awareness vs a paycheck?

FU JP. Retire already.

They can’t be Howie Hits if they ended up getting traded/cut and excelling elsewhere

Very inclusive.

If wax jurrahs car for three months straight for what they’ll pay

If they are dumb enough to pay him, God bless. Get that money.

Bonus - he can’t play anymore and will get abused by Sweat and Reddick

Actually, even before this last draft, Howie was in the middle of the pack when you weigh draft picks by draft position.

In other words, not good enough.

Countess absolutely is a miss.  Pryor can be a 'hit', in that he brought back basically what it cost to draft him.

But, if Countess doesn't play a snap for the Eagles, then was he a hit for the Eagles?   Nope.   Was Raheem Brock a hit for the Eagles?   Nope.  He was a hit for the Colts.  Jordan Poyer was also a miss.  Because he hit somewhere else.  Just as Al Harris was a hit for the Eagles, not the Bucs.

Kyler Murray counts as a hit for the Oakland Athletics based on his success with the Arizona Cardinals.

No, the discipline that can be imposed is entirely determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement.  It has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that games are licensed and televised. If you read the CBA, I think the language is unquestionably broad enough to allow the NFL to impose a suspension.  Moreover, there is specific grounds under the Personal Conduct Policy which includes acts of violence against a co-worker or third-party in the workplace.

I did count them as misses primarily for the Eagles, not so much their NFL career. I could be convinced to flip Pryor to a hit with his 10 starts for the birds and did pretty well filling in. Countess was cut after his first TC, picked up by the Rams and came back for a very short stint 4 years later.

I will play left tackle for one game for them for a lot less.  Dak's season would be over in a play.

I understand your point but if you think about the draft being primarily a talent evaluation process, I could see where classifying them as misses is a bit inaccurate.  Cutting them from the team and the player succeeding elsewhere isn't a drafting issue.  It's a GM issue undoubtedly but not one where the scouting staff and Howie are missing on the pick.
