Herbert hasn’t been what he was last year but he’s also dealing with a fractured rib, down his LT, down his top Wr for all but 2 games so far and just lost his best wr this year in Williams to injury. The chargers having issues like the eagles had in 2019

That franchise has the worst luck…

I would defend Lamar on this a little, he doesn't have the best O-Line in the NFL nor a group of weapons like Brown/Smith/Goedert, Hurts has both.

Sure but They do have a strong OL & Mark Andrews has been a very good TE for awhile now

I thought they had a great draft class, even if Kyle Hamilton is potentially an Isaiah Simmons redux.

AJ Brown 659 yards and 5 TDs

Titans WRs 658 yards and 1 TD

I would say that but then that franchise has had Brees then rivers and now herbert all in a row. But injury wise it feels like every year they have a ton of them

I’m still struggling to figure out just how good Hurts is and can be. He’s putting up numbers that would have him as a 5,000 yard passer with 25 TD passes and 5 INTs along with 700 yards rushing and 14 rushing TDs. Albeit, this is against a weak schedule and with one of the best rosters in the NFL.

By all accounts he’s an incredibly hard worker, a team first guy, excellent character off the field. And as mentioned above, he’s an excellent decision maker.

Those sorts of things almost make me think he can be a sort of a rich man’s McNabb. He doesn’t have the arm or the ability to make spectacular plays that McNabb did, but he’s already more accurate, has the same ability to avoid turnovers while throwing TDs, obviously he can scramble and run, but unlike McNabb he seems to have that je ne sais quoi of a winner, where as McNabb certainly did not.

Is there more room to grow as a passer? I feel as if there is. As great as he’s been, the passing numbers almost seem inflated vs the eyeball test. And I mean that in a good way, because he’s been very good. Yet I think there might be another level in him.

I think the postseason will tell us a lot. I’m looking forward to the last few games of the season and playoffs when we get to see high stakes football against more talented defenses.

He’s also dealing with Bateman being hurt most of the year and andrews also being banged up the past couple weeks. Plus his RBs are currently Gus edwards, Drake and justice hill.

No on Herbert. He's just there when they lose or he is causing them to lose too much so far. He's going on start 40 and he's still a bystander on wins and losses. He is one hell of a talent and a very good passer but he's not a top 5 QB right now.

If we are recalibrating Rodgers, Brady, and Wilson out of the top 5 then I guess Hurts is 4 or 5.

1 Mahomes

1A Allen

.

.

.

3  Burrow

4-5  Hurts, Lamar  (I'd be fine if people still had Brady or Rodgers in this range) (suspended QB1 in Ohio is in this mix too)

7  Herbert

No idea where to put Wilson after 8 games with an over his head HC.

The position as a whole is a mess right now. Foles might still be about #22-25.

Mac Jones, Davis Mills, and Zach Wilson are not NFL quality starting QBs (or at least not top 25)

Lawrence should make his way into the top 20 but he's not there yet.

Playing Andy Dalton is actual career suicide as a HC but he keeps getting the ball.

I might get slaughtered for this, but you gotta put Geno in that conversation also.

also I’d rather have Hurts over Lamar. Both extremely talented runners, but Hurts offers more in the passing game. I’ve watched a number of Ravens losses now because of Lamar’s passing ability, or lack thereof.

Its weird on how much we do or don't have to factor this year.

Geno was a career joke but just based on this year he is top 8.

Wilson is a HoF QB but he's been a joke this year.

In the just this year pile Hurts is 3rd.

Disagree on Lamar.

His scheme, line, team, and weapons are fine.

Mark Andrews catches everything thrown anywhere near him. He wins like 90% of jump balls. Lamar just has to lob it in his direction.

His WRs are fast and get separation.

Thier owner is a dbag. Don't feel bad for them. Like I don't feel bad for Commies, Colts, Cowboys etc.

Brady 3-5

Rodgers 3-5

Wilson 3-5

Stafford 3-4

Four Super Bowl Winners of the Old Guard took some lumps the first half of the season.  I wonder which of the 4 will turn it around and make the playoffs.   Brady's Division seems to be the weakest of the bunch.   Minny is getting some serious separation from the Packers, Bears and Lions. So Aaron could be in wild card situation.    Wilson is still behind KC and the Chargers.    Stafford now has to deal with Seattle and the 49ers.    If all four missed the playoffs, that would be wild.

I think Hurts and McNabb comparisons are terrible.

Hurts has been embraced by this city. McNabb was at war with us from draft day on.

Hurts is a grinder and a specimen. McNabb grew fat rings around his midsection every year like a tree.

McNabb was a #1 overall pick type prospect who went #2 overall. Hurts went in the middle of round 2.

McNabb was psychologically damaged by a TV pundit and stopped running. There is literally no comparison to this in NFL history.

Hurts is the leader type and best friends with the stud WR.  McNabb was a goofball type who went to war with his stud WR.

McNabb had holes in his game and he never tried to fix them. Hurts had holes in his game and he went to the QB guru.

McNabb was one of the least clutch athletes in Philly history. I don't even want people saying his name near our QBs in case it rubs off.

Something I found interesting yesterday is how loud the OSU fans were at PSU.   I've never heard Beaver Stadium have an away team cheer so loudly when their team was making plays.  Sirianni makes a good point here.  The Friermuth cheers were the most you could hear today.

I'd say it was about 20% Steelers fans. There were a lot of them, that's for sure. But the thing is, I don't think they came to the game expecting anything other than a beating. They were just there, visible in their black and yellow. There was very little enthusiasm.

I remember how obnoxious they were in a preseason game a couple years ago when they were beating the crap out of us. Acting like they were winning the Super Bowl right there and then. I had to laugh at the idiocy. So it made it kinda extra special today watching them walk away after watching their team get spanked by three touchdowns when we were playing our B-game.

I hear you, but I would still take the following over Hurts:

Allen

Mahomes

Burrow

Jackson

Herbert

I get that Herbert is having a down year, but I've seen too much from him to ignore it.

I would take Hurts over Jackson

This has same feeling as 2017. Rolling over teams. The touchdown celebrations. Hurts deep to Brown reminds me of Wentz to Jeffery

@LeanMeanGM

Eagles 30

Texans 14

Smith 2 tds

@4for4EaglesNest

Completion percentage-67%

TD:INT- 5

Passing yards per game- 257

Lamar sucks

TD celebrations are dumb.  They can go away now.

I'd prefer the defense sprinting the entire length of the field to celebrate a turnover to go away first.

Yup. The vibes are great!

Couldn't imagine being here after the 2020 season. We thought we were in for a 3-4 year rebuild.

Malailta was bad in pass protection yesterday.  He's got to get better against fast edge rushers.

Both mobile.  That's about it.

Mcnabb had a much stronger arm and Hurts has a lot more strength between the ears, it seems.

I'd eliminate Lamar and put Herbert right next to Hurts.

Nothing against Hurts, but what we are seeing is the collapse of a generation of QBs.  The old guys...who are the prototypes...hung around too long and are falling off a cliff.  The new generation has had a rough start to their careers, to put it nicely.  So the Eagles' patience with a pretty ordinary but hardworking talent in Hurts, combined with surrounding him with an elite roster...has now created a top 5 QB in the new NFL.
