Wait...

You're serious?

The Bears??!!

The team who has scraped a couple wins up on the back of their defense?

The defense that just got gutted by losing Roquan and Quinn?

Stop.

You seem to not understand what a trap game is.  That's when you lose to a much lesser opponent that the team took lightly and was overlooking.

Beer is difficult because there really is no profit in beer. In some unique IPAs or craft beer there is, but for the most part beer is typically sold at 5-10% above cost. It is a high volume mover that is not as shelf stable as liquor or wine, so it is about moving as much of it as quickly as possible.

Liquor they will buy massive bulk at a huge discount and then sell that at or below cost. Sometimes they will have a year plus of inventory in stock of common items.  Liquor can sit on the shelf for years and years without ever going bad. They use that as the way to get people in the store and then use aggressive sales techniques to try and get you to buy wine.

You are in Florida right? Do you have a ABC near you? I just wonder how their prices compare.

Don't think I've ever seen one. Liquor is mostly chains; Total Wine, Publix, Walmart, Costco etc. Beer/Wine is like anywhere you can imagine lol.

Just admit you're take-locked about Hurts, because you were wrong saying Minshew was a much better QB, and move on.

At the end of the day, Minshew did what he did, which before this year was better then Hurts, with a disaster around him.

Trap games happen early in seasons.  The Eagles will be close to locking up the 1 seed, and know that the Cowboys are next head to head, and they may have no room for error if the Cowboys keep winning.

This week is a trap game, games at the end of the season are not trap games.

We all have issues, why else would we be here.😉

I'm a sensitive person, always have been, I'm also and extrovert which means I get a large amount of my energy from Interactions with people, having bad interactions with people on here is still having bad interactions with people, whether they are behind a screen or face to face .

I don't separate the two all together some people aren't affected by the interactions at all they have with people, they're called sociopaths.

Now if one is losing sleep over the interactions one has on here maybe change those interactions or change the way one reacts or both.

Either way not taking things too serious isn't an excuse to be a D hole and as stated why not we give the board the level of seriousness it deserves what ever that is🤷‍♂️

Having said that I don't look forward to my daughter's teenage years, I have 2 they're twins just turned 6 and they've already destroyed me😁

And some of us are affected by interactions with people we know and care about in our lives, but not by anonymous randos on a message board. To each their own. Personally, I don't really fret about the "seriousness level" of online interactions...I place their seriousness level at 0 personally.

Our 2nd string could beat the Bears. The Titans are an inferior opponent but still have at least a chance against our starters. The Bears do not, in any way shape or form. I bet our cheerleaders could beat them in powder puff.

Then when said receivers of trash are offended one says it's just a message board dint take it too serious .

I try to never say anything on here to anybody I wouldn't say to their face.

If I walked up to a poster on the street or in the eagles parking lot and said something rude or mean and verbally attacked them and later I found out after they left they were affected by that negative interaction, my first response wouldn't be they take life too serious, so why is that an acceptable outcome on the board?

There is a huge difference between joking on the board making fun of others and turning the board into a joke.

Like I said Id rather give the board the level of seriousness it deserves than not take it serious enough and lose it or get to the point like JR and leave because that level of seriousness whatever that might be is totally gone.

This poor family. Didn’t they lose Mike’s wife a few years back?

This team- we can control the ball. Can be become consistently explosive? We HAVE to. Right now we havent shown it. Its been there for 2 games out of 7. Need to see much more to believe in it.

If this team wants to be battle tested for the playoffs, they need to get in and win a couple of shootouts, and need to get behind early, be down multiple scores at the half and come back and win games.

2017 had the early loss to KC, the bad loss to Seattle.

Had the comeback and last second win against the Giants, had to go score for score a couple of times, and then went into LA and won the huge game with the other team trying to be the #1 seed.

I am worried come playoff time that the Eagles have not had to pass many tests, and will be a over confident.

I tend to agree, could be beneficial for them to take some lumps and overcome some adversity.

Then again I have zero problem with them running roughshod through the league on their way to a championship win?

8 minutes ago, HazletonEagle said:

It sounds good in theory, but we saw how it worked in 2017. We HAD the explosive offense. We got out to leads early. And then we ran the ball and limited possessions for the other team so they couldnt come back.

However, in the superbowl we ran in to another juggernaut. Only so much you can do to limit an opponents possessions when THEY can score quickly. Theyre going to get more possessions no matter what because they arent holding the ball long. That leaves more time for them to get more chances with it.

If we run the Arizona type offense, that takes some time, but doesnt score consistently enough (especially wont against a D like Buffalo's). So we arent going to keep up.

When you cant limit another teams possessions, you have to be able to score with them.

2017 was a complete team. We played either style (ball control running game, or explosive passing game) well enough to beat anyone.

This team- we can control the ball. Can be become consistently explosive? We HAVE to. Right now we havent shown it. Its been there for 2 games out of 7. Need to see much more to believe in it.

I cant argue that. I think that they have played the right offense against the defense that they have faced. If the team is going to back off and go into a shell, then throw the ball. If they are going to come with an blitz or an exotic front on the defense, then play the short game with bubble screens and runs.

I also think that we are all a bit confused on this team because of just how awful the NFL has been this year.

Sorry man...but I think that's weak. Nothing or nobody could ever get me to a point where I'd quit an online message board. And no, I don't equate the anonymity of a MB with that of real life interactions. I guess I just don't care what strangers think...in person or online. I'm not condoning the name calling and such...but the parties have been punished for it. I can only control my feelings and reactions, I'll let the mods handle other people's.

Yeah. I dont necessarily want a loss. But a test would be nice to see. They havent really been tested since week 1 with a close game against the Lions. Its already a distant memory.

I suspect Dallas, in Dallas will make them bring their A game. Especially if Dallas can land another WR before today's deadline. But possibly even without that.

While we are on trap games...

Washington's run defense is second in the league in DVOA.  We struggled to run against them and needed Smith to have the game of his life.

Wentz wont be there to give us the ball and I can already see Heinicke scrambling away from Edwards for a key first down.

Inferior team overall, but a matchup challenge for us.

Never heard this before. Another thing that doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Also @paco this seems to suggest it was a restructure and not a handshake deal to knock off the last two years, but I guess he still doesn't qualify for a comp pick.

I think it was afan who posed the question yesterday of how much Hurts has improved, vs how much the supporting case has to do with the results we are seeing.

I believe most of it is due to the supporting cast.

Week 1 looked a lot like last season. Wasnt very good.

Week 2 and 3 were amazing. And even his most ardent "haters" were believing he may have finally arrived. Myself included. Especially that week 3 game where he was airing it out like crazy. I think there were at least 6 deep shots in that game. Most were completed. There were 2nd and long situations and 3rd and long situations that were being overcome with ease. Sometimes even a few in a drive and the drive would still continue. It was a beautiful display of offense much like the greatest show on turf.

Then week 4 happened. Hurts was slow and late. But also played in bad weather and we gave him a pass. Then the Arizona game happened. He basically threw nothing beyond 10 yards. Maybe 2 passes went 12 yards. They nearly ended up losing the game. It was inefficient. I began doubting him again.

Then the Cowboys game happened. The gameplan was similar, but looked a slightly different, and slightly better. But still wasnt enough to win me back over.

Finally we arrived at the Steelers game. Suddenly, the deep ball was back, for the first time since Week 3. And they were dimes. 3 to AJ Brown for TDs, and one more that was a good enough throw probably should  have been a 4th TD. But his supporters will focus on that and care to see nothing else. In reality, he was undeniably horrible on his other passes. He took numerous sacks. One of them was Wentz-like non-existant pocket presence. He threw in to double coverage a lot, even though it ended up working out in this game. He spazzed out on one pass and missed seeing Quez for an easy TD throw. And even many of his completions were those short-intermediate range wobblers where the nose of the football was down and the ball was diving at the ground. They got to the WR, but barely. They had no zip. Those are interceptions waiting to happen. Goedert had to make a great 1 handed snag on a ball thrown well behind him. Smith had a drop on an absolutely horrid pass thrown behind him. There were a TON of mistakes. You watch greats like Brady occasionally throw a bad pass or 2 in games and say wow even the greats do it. People use that to support Hurts, but Hurts plays with a game full of bad passes.

The results are there. The performance itself leaves a LOT to be desired.

Now, results matter more than style. If Hurts isnt all that great, but the team can win because of its supporting cast, thats fine.

So the question that really matters is- If the supporting cast is whats carrying this team, but Hurts has improved- Has he at least improved just enough to beat the elite teams in the AFC in a superbowl?

As of right now, I am pretty positive the answer is no.

We lack the explosiveness (consistently) on offense to make me believe we can win a shootout type of game (with a great team like the Bills, not with the freakin Lions).

We only have 2 games, out of 7 that resembled the style of play necessary to be competitive in a superbowl against the Bills or Chiefs.

Can I be convinced? Yes.

I need to see more games like the Washington and Pittsburgh game. I need to see him throwing the deep ball a lot more in games. Like he did in those two.

I dont even care that much if he isnt real sharp in the intermediate stuff. Josh Allen for all the hype he gets isnt the most accurate short and intermediate QB. Through his career he has been very up and down game to game with completion percentage, and even TD:INT ratio.

The one thing that is consistent is, the guy is explosive.

Same with Russell Wilson. He isnt a very good QB in the traditional sense, but he is a phenomenal explosive playmaker. Consistently enough (with Seattle anyway) to win a ton of games, and even a superbowl, supported by his supporting cast which was a great D, and WRs who made plays for him.

Hurts can do that. I believe he can even get there this year. But he needs to show me he is willing to air it out. A lot. Every game. Being good at that is our only shot to win a super bowl. The offense needs to be consistently explosive in the passing game. Thats all that matters.

I want a loss. I don't want the additional pressure of being undefeated in the playoffs and don't want anyone getting too complacent heading into the playoffs.
