That is pretty close to the coolest thing I ever read.

It’s escalation, it goes with the cap. No one is getting money QBs signed for 2-3 years ago.

Look at what the % of the cap was that Dak signed for in 2020(?), and it’ll be close to what Hurts gets in 2023 or 2024, which will probably be more than Murray

It is simple escalation only if you "go along to get along"  If Hurts' contract simply matched Kyler Murray's it is four years of a $50 million Cap hit after a transition year of "only" $16 million.  Compare those numbers to the numbers of the QB drafted first in the 2022 Draft ... Kenny Pickett ... which range between $2.5 million and $4.5 million over the four years of the contract.  Think what you can do with $over $45 million of additional Cap Space per year ... you sign/keep James Bradberry, Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and Marcus Epps to go with Darius Slay.  Which is more valuable to the team?  One QB? Or all 4 DBs?

And that is just the money part.  You also have all the additional draft picks that you got by trading the QB.  Those picks coupled with the team's own picks provide the core of a player succession plan.

Now, ideally I would like to have Hurts see the financial value of winning the same way Brady has.  In the end, the number that is meaningful is the total compensation from salary and bonuses PLUS endorsements revenue.

Picture if Zac Wilson was our QB right now. We lose to Dallas, lose to Arizona, lose to Detroit, lose to Jacksonville… suddenly we’re a 3-4 team. We could still get competent play out of the replacement secondary, win a few of those and be 5-2. I would take the MVP-pace QB

It also won’t be that big of an impact or a few years. Next year we’re only on the 4th year of his rookie deal with some signing bonus cap hit, then Howie will probably have it back loaded so 2024 isn’t too bad either. By that time Slay will be done, Graham will be done, Cox will be done, Kelce will be done, Lane is wrapping it up and the cap has gone up a bit that Jalen’s contract isn’t as bad. We really want to get him signed before Lamar/Burrow/Herbert/Tua. Each will escalate the others and That’ll make the market insane

I don’t know man. Bryce’s shot against the Padres was the most dancing I’ve done around my house since SBLII

That was a better emotional game but this was the funnest just pile on, watch, drink, care free game.

I'm okay with your scenario.  Now compare that scenario to the alternative with Bradberry gone, CG-J gone and Epps gone.  Slay is still under contract, but his playing partners are Manny, Moe and Jack.  Or alternatively Moe, Larry and Curly.   Look at what we would have had this year without Bradberry and C G-J ... Harris playing next to Epps with Wallace as Safety depth and Zech McPherson or some equivalent playing opposite Slay.  We certainly wouldn't be +14 in turnovers.

I respect your opinion, but also respectfully disagree with that opinion.

In fairness my opinions about the absolute value of a starting QB are colored by the performance of Nick Foles in 2017.

Even if the Phillies win the next game, there’s no way I’m watching Game 5 instead of the Eagles. I’m just not wired like that. And I say that as a lifelong Phillies fan. Just can’t do it. Football is King in my world.

I almost feel bad for the Union.

Will have both on.

It will be multitasking on a new level.

This was like Game 4 of 2008, just an absolute laugher.

Yup. Just have to decide what’s TV and what’s IPad.

You can draft a CB at 8 and a safety at 32. You can't do either with a QB.

I'll be starting out with the Eagles game but if the Phils are closing in on a win, or keeping it real close late,  Imma hop on that real quick
