Nola isn’t finishing in the top 5. Wheeler, fried, sandy, scherzer, urias, Kyle wright and gallen will all finish ahead of him.

second pretty sure that was Rhys’ wife who was buying beers for fans.

We shall see. I say he finishes above those. Especially a shot Max Scherzer he’s awful now. It’s actually sad watching him pitch he reminds me of end of days Jamie Moyer. Can’t strike anyone out.

Yeah scherzer was so awful this year. That 2.29 era in 145 innings with 173ks. Yup can’t strike anyone out. Only 1.2 strikeouts per inning. And a whip of 0.908 which was one of the best in his career. Yup definitely sucks

Don't tell me you actually believe those stats. Did you watch him pitch this year? That's stat agencies doctoring his numbers to make him look better because he plays in NY. They do this to LA and NY players all the time. His ERA is actually closer to 5.50 and his strikeouts much much lower.

Speaking of a washed up Scherzer, I said when the Phillies traded for Syndergaard that the irony is people asked whether or not he was washed up when the Phillies got the former NY Met pitcher. Turns out it was the Mets who ended up with the washed up pitcher. Syndergaard is going to impress Thursday night.

Everyone get some sleep, epic Thursday night incoming, gonna be a great night for Philly sports.

yeah, I actually did watch him. Clearly you did not besides his last start of the year. Of course we just ignore all of his stats or we just throw away all stats and pretend they don’t count cause they are "doctored”

I like nola, but let me know when Aaron Nola has a 2.29 ERA at the same time he has WHIP below 1 at any point in his career. then you can tell me Max Scherzer is washed.  there’s only 5 SP who did that this year. Scherzer, verlander, manoah, alcantara and urias. I forgot nola was in La or NY his last 3 starts would’ve been doctored numbers and he’d be washed cause he was not in Philadelphia.

oh yes, i forgot everyone in LA and NY get their stats doctored. Did your "sources” tell you that?

What a crappy night. However i learned tonight if we just move the teams to NY or LA we can just doctor the score and stats to say we went 3-0

I watched him all year, he was awful. Just terrible. And they doctor stats all the time. I know a lot of people in the stat industry and this happens all the time.

For example did you know last year, Nola’s ERA was actually 2.20, but they doctored it to put it in the 4’s because they wanted him to look bad because they dubbed him an anti-vaxxer?

You can’t trust these stat sites, so many are total fake news.

This isn’t the first time they had Smith back there so I wouldn’t read too much into that. I think the plan all along has been to use DeVonta in situations where the other team is backed up and he might have a short field. I would be shocked if they released Covey. In case anyone hadn’t noticed , the kick return game has been a lot better once he took over for Quez. No more sideways returns that fail to get to the twenty yard line.

Covey scares the crap out of me every time he touches the ball.  He might not go sideways but his average return is very low and he has already logged two fumbles.

While acknowledging that a fumble is a fumble regardless, and ideally we want no fumbles, I'm not bothered by either of the two fumbles.  Both fumbles were situations ... in situations that are highly unlikely to happen again.  Unlikely if the coaching Covey is receiving is any good that is.  I was at the game where the first fumble happened, and the problem decision by Covey that caused the fumble was attempting to field an essentially unfieldable punt.  He should have recognized that the punt's trajectory was beyond his reach and simply let it go.  Hopefully the coaches have told him that (1) on the sidelines during the game and (2) during the film review of the game.  The second fumble was a clear cut example of a Kicking Team Interference penalty that wasn't called by the refs.Covey can be faulted for not signaling for a fair catch, but that doesn't absolve the opponent of the interference.  I suspect that in the film review with Covey the coaches talked less about ball security than they did about fair catch signalling.

Given Sirianni's obsession with fumble avoidance, and the success of the team in avoiding both fumble occurrence (only 4 total for the season) and fumbles lost (none of the four having been lost) I suspect that both Covey's position coaches and Covey himself have given Sirianni reason to feel confident enough to be sending Covey back out as the punt returner.

Watched Duffy on all22 and I am impressed how well Sanders played in pass protection.

I don't wanna scapegoat Nola, the Phillies bats haven't done ish.

This game was a team loss.  You can't win a game if you can't get a hit.  Giving up 5 runs in also makes that hard to win.  Not a single scape goat.  Team loss.

Come back tomorrow and rake.  The series is tied, not over.

It was a beautiful game.  You are looking through the glass darkly. Baseball isn't musterbashion.  It is group sex.

Even more beautiful because it followed last night's equally beautiful game.  Baseball being played at its finest level.  Thge irresistible force meeting the immovable object.  Fabulous entertainment ... and high anxiety.

Even James Spader thinks this is creepy.

I have a bit of a conspiracy theory that this is the biggest reason why Roseman did not make a bigger push to add another RB.

I always thought that adding another good runner would not make that much difference in the offense, but the pass blocking has been rough at times this year.

Shoring that up, to me, was always the bigger issue at the RB position.

Sanders (and Gainwell) improving in pass pro this week took a little pressure off, IMO.

Fair points.  All I can say is what I'm feeling and seeing and he scares me.  Hope that fear turns out to be unwarranted.

That Chubb contract, whew.

Howie passing on that was the right decision. Giving up a 1st and 20M a year for the right to pay a good, but not great, injury prone pass-rusher.

Some people were saying the same thing when we got AJ Brown

AJ Brown is an elite WR. This was true in Tennessee.

Bradley Chubb has never been an elite pass-rusher

Hey Han. How bout you give yourself a Hand Solo and call it a night. We are all already depressed enough.  ❤️❤️

Sure, hputanus

Nola wasok but doesnt matter much when we get no hit

Firstly, congratulations to @Sack that QB for the blatant :fishing: that actually somehow hooked a couple.

Went to bed disgusted. Woke up…still pretty disgusted. The only thing the Phillies hit was Yordon. In the World Series. At home. With a chance to take true command of the series.

Now it’s a race to 2 wins. Still have a phighting chance. Verlander doesn’t scare me.

Let’s go :phil:

Let’s go :Eagle_smiley:
