Why would Book sign with the Eagles PS? Do we somehow retain his rights?

He would have to be waived again, clear waivers, then sign to the PS.

And agree to sign... he would be free to sign anywhere.   BUT, since his former college coach worked for one year with the Eagles HC and OC, I'm sure we have an inside track on getting him to John Hancock the contract.

The Book acquisition remains an enigma to me.  Makes no sense.   Putting in a claim for Mond also makes very little sense to me.

Agreed on all points.

Maybe the Eagles liked what they saw from Mond and Book in the preseason.

Maybe these guys are starting to get it and are graduating to QB2/QB3.

You know we're smarter than everyone else in the league.

Will be interesting for sure to see how his career compares to Milton Williams.  McNeil is a plug and play DT and an anchor.  The problem with Williams, and it's not his fault, is that he doesn't have a position here.  Much like Reddick, I think you need a creative DC to use him the right way in a scheme to get the most out of him.  He should be a DT in a base 4-3 that lets him attack up field and abuse C/G with his athletic ability.  I think the Eagles/Gannon are going to get too cute with Williams and try to move him around instead of letting him dominate on the inside.

Also funny how the guy the old pro Donahoe wanted is the one trending up.  The mid-round picks are where Howie tries to outsmart and overdraft or take project players.  I still have hopes for Williams but just interesting to look at the situation.

I think Williams fits pretty well in the 4i position.

I imagine Book is waived and added to the practice squad after week 1

If Book were waived, he would have the choice to sign a practice squad contract with any team in the league. Why would he would want to sign with the Eagles PS rather than the Saints PS?

Sure, he fits there but I don't think it utilizes and takes advantage of what he can do best.

So which RB are the Eagles adding today to round out the 53 man roster ??

They were talking on 97.5 yesterday that they were hearing some rumblings that Miles Sanders injury is worse than is being reported.

Wonder how much the patriots would want for Rhamondre Stevenson

If you don't have a good #3, then you shouldn't have 3 on the roster.  That's what the PS is for.

We'd have to hope... but aren't there rules about how quickly you can waive a player after you claim them?

That rule applies to players you sign off another team’s practice squad. That doesn’t apply here.

I posted yesterday how I don't see all the love for Williams. But I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised by him this year.

I was looking at stats, and an oddity jumps at me....we ran 1075 offensive plays last year...and our defense faced 1076 plays against them.

I clicked over to Tampa, they ran 1139 offensive plays and faced 1093 opposing offensive plays.

That's 3.76 more plays a game than us on O, and 1.05 plays on d more than us.

Of our 1076 defensive snaps, Williams played 456, or 41%.

Do you see that number increasing for him? If so, do you think it's a significant increase? Does he get to say, 60%? I wouldn't think so based on the rotation we'll be using. Without a significant increase in his snaps, or even if he remains around 40%, does he have the opportunity to be as good as some are hoping?

They love him there. No chance they give him up for anything less than a premium package. I don't think Bill B would fall to Howie's sweet charms.

I think a lot of that depends on Cox and Hargrave's health.   At the 4i position, he's behind both of them.   And rightly or wrongly, this team often allows salary to dictate playing time.  Both make far more than he does, so they will get the lionshare.  He might jump up closer to 50% though if they go with a 3 man rotation for the 4i position, where he's flipping side to side.  Also, when they go to a 4 man front rather than this 3-4 hybrid, I think think he'll get some snaps on the strong side at DE.

You must have one of the weakest digestive systems around. When I eat Chipotle, I have the hot salsa because that is the only thing they have with any kick to it.  Their peppers are sweet, their queso is mild. A jalapeño has never met their "guacamole”.  None of their meats suggest a pepper ever saw any of their marinades.  No serranos, no poblanos, no jalapeños, no chiles and certainly no habaneros.

My friend, you need to spend a week eating my Tex Mex.  I have Hatches, Anaheims, Serranos, Poblanos, Jalapeños, and Habaneros all producing right now in my garden (paprikas and Bells too).  Cayennes too but like the paprikas, I dry and grind those. The paprika, like chipotles (jalapeños) and anchos (poblanos) I smoke and grind. Serranos too. Tomatillos and tomatoes producing too.  Bacon wrapped stuffed jalapeños last night for an appetizer.  One pan chicken enchilada mash up tonight. A week of my Tex Mex during pepper season and you will be complaining about how mild Chipotle is.

This is what does it to me.  Please keep in mind I don't think it's that hot.  It has a decent kick, but for some reason, it destroys my insides.  My guess is because it is made from such terrible ingredients, that something just doesn't agree with me.  I've had plenty of hot pepper marinated sauces and foods that don't bother me at all.  Habaneros, Scotch bonnet peppers, ghost pepper based sauces, and those don't mess me up at all.  That pepper garden sounds delicious.  I would use use all of that on a daily basis if I had any.  Bring on the Tex Mex you old fart!!

Peter Schrager is a dope.  He's talking up someone from the Lions.  Hmmm....maybe it has something to do with the Lions being on Hard Knocks.  You really see Peter Schrager as the type to do a deep dive into the Lions roster?  Yeah...me neither.

None story.

McNeil hasn't been on hard knocks once though.

They are down to 4 active WRs.

They have 0 credible RB depth.

2 of their QBs are completely worthless (Book and Sinnett)

They have 0 returners on the roster.

You know which 1 man can fix ALL of those issues?

Well the Saints waved him, and the Eagles made a claim and picked him up. So I don’t know about you, but I think I’d choose the team that took a chance on me, rather than the one that let me go.
