Yup, let's judge a player's performance based on one stat with no context.

Clearly Andy Reid saw the best left tackle in football. He said that exact thing when they traded for him.

And no one from the Bills has ever said that they traded him for bad play on the field. Everyone agrees that they traded him only because of money, just like they did Byrd three seasons later. And Marshawn Lynch as well.

The trade had nothing to do with his performance on the field no matter how much you can try to will it into existence. His own coach is telling you that. Why not listen?

Yes let's ignore the single most important stat for a LT. You go with that. His play slipped in 2008, you just refuse to acknowledge it. You're looking at it with 20/20 vision, but you do you boo

Didn't get to watch the game last night, how did Slovis look?

He looked OK, nothing that tells me he's a 1st round pick.

The guy who stood out to me all game was Bryce Ford-Wheaton, the WR #0 for WVU.  6-3, 220 and can leap.  I know JJAW was the same but man he looked physical and the ball was his when it was in the air.

Also, #7 for Pitt.  Sirvocea Dennis.  He's probably going to be a tweener at the next level but he can play and he can hit.

Speaking of Jason Peters, a key reason we were able to trade for him was because the trade for Larry Fitzgerald fell through. It's possible we could have gotten both Fitzgerald and Peters, but I wonder if Banner would want to trade big packages and give out big contracts in back to back years.

Maybe they were designed sacks

If only they didn't allow Fitz outta the airport! He woulda been ours!

His coach said the trade had nothing to do with his play on the field.

The team did the exact same thing with two other star players at around the same time.

How much more evidence do you need?

Also, live by stats and die by them. His pff grade was 79 in 2007 and 76 in 2008. Regardless of what you think of pff, if his play was so much worse in 2008, why didn't his grade drop?

And in this case we aren't debating the usefulness of pff grades. We are debating why his grade didn't go down if his performance had declined.

Just saw him at the airport.  I believe he'll be the new PR/KR.

IF it actually happened though it's crazy to think of the massive ripple affect it would have had in Eagles history. Most likely no Desean Jackson or Jeremy Maclin. Probably no Jason Peters. And probably a Super Bowl appearance in 2008. And the biggest shakeup of them all.....

No Bryan Smith from McNeese State!

Yes, coaches are so truthful all the time.

Here's the quote you're relying on:

"Dick Jauron, Bills head coach 2006-09: He was clearly, if not the best tackle in football, he was well on his way to being that. He had an unbelievable combination of size, strength and athletic ability. Uncanny for a man that big to be that fast, that quick, that tough. It was just a remarkable combination. Clearly, we had no desire to lose this player. From our side, the coaching side, and also from the front office side.

Can you spot the lie? I've bolded it for you because obviously you can't. You know why that's a lie? Because THEY LET HIM LEAVE!

And no Chippah, no Dream Team, etc.

Still taking season W - L and predictions for anyone that wants to submit one. So far:

High: 13 - 3 - 1

Low: 8 - 9

Average 10.8 - 6.2

Mode: 10 - 7

8-9 wins

@LeanMeanGM I think I made a season prediction, but I think I was high and don't remember. Did I make one?

You keep saying he's lying. I don't understand why you think that.

And if he's lying about Peters, then why did the same front office let Byrd and Lynch leave as well? Answer that question.

Jesus you're dense.

Jauron says the front office had no desire to let him leave. They in fact, let him leave. THATS THE LIE

That's not a lie.  They recognized that they were going to lose him, and they decided to get compensation for him, rather than letting him leave via free agency.   They made a smart business decision, recognizing that they weren't going to be able to resign him.   Alternatively, they could have franchised him and hoped his demands would drop... or that a team would give up the 2 firsts instead of just one.   They took the sure thing.

People make decision against their desires all the time, because they have to.    I'm in a hurry to get somewhere and have no desire to stop.  But then the light turns red and my desire not to get the ticket outweighs my desire not to stop.

Because they didn't want to pay him. Just like with Byrd and Lynch.

The answer is pretty obvious.

You have "Minshew has more passing TD's than Hurts"

Disagree. Peters was demanding to be the highest paid tackle in the league. If the Bills knew he would turn out to be what he turned out to be, they would have paid his demands. He had entered the league as a TE, converted to RT, and then to LT. He had one great year in 2007, but they weren't ready to commit to making him the highest paid tackle yet. They didn't budge on his demands going into the 2008 season, where he showed up disinterested and allowed the most sacks of any tackle in the league that year.

He again demanded a significant increase in salary, and the Bills decided that even though he was an ascending talent, they didn't want to meet his contract demands and decided to trade him instead. Jauron is lying that the FO had a desire to keep him in Buffalo. They had every opportunity to keep him around, and at the end of the day, actions speak far louder than words, ESPECIALLY coach speak.

I have no dog in this fight, not a Penn State fan.  IMO that was not a catch.

It was obviously not a catch - even during a slow motion replay it was in between his hands for like a tenth of a second before hitting the ground.

I'm looking at this schedule closer, now that the regular season is about to begin. The 1st thing I notice is the Eagles have a HUGE opportunity to get off to a tremendous start this year. Like a 7-2 or better start. My only concern is if they are ready for the start of the season, as far as how they trained. Sure, people stay healthy when they don't do sheeeet, but are they ready for teams that trained hard? This is why I get pissed at SiriSoft™ training camps. They must be ready, because 7-2, 8-1, 9-0 is staring them right in the face.

Is there anyone else besides me that actually WANTS to see Peters sign with the Cowboys?

I'll be interested in the first month about two things:

Penalties and tackling. Both are in jeopardy IMO due to the soft off season schedule.
