I’ve been critical of Sanders in the past but he’s been fantastic this year. Still not interested in giving him a 2nd contract

Same. Unless he comes back for cheap, like $5M or less apy, no thanks. But credit where due, he’s stepped up things on his own.

Still a lot of butthurt Hurts bashers here who were hoping and counting on an epic collapse this year just to be right. 🤣 Petty peeps in here. Like to share my bingo card today as a reminder to the antics in here. Only 🤟

Yup - Sunday wasn't a great day for pocket presence, rather than stepping up there were a lot of early exits.  I don't think there was overwhelming pressure from the left side, but it got Swag on the move (even saw a circle).  As the game progressed, he settled in bit and the run game did it's thing.  GB played a bit more man coverage than I expected, which is an invitation for any rQB - so a bunch of the runs were warranted/probably schemed.

Yep, if you're not gonna waste a defender to spy him when playing man, then this is the result you get. And if you do waste a defender to spy him, hopefully that opens up passing lanes or slows down at least one defender in pursuit of Sanders on run plays.

Once we got a little breathing space against the GB run game (i.e., got them into passing situations), I think Gannon started mixing in some games - guys like Fletch who have had a hard hard time getting off their 1v1 blocks benefitted from that.

Gannon is a bit tied down the last couple of weeks. Noticed watching the All22 that he didn’t disguise the S drops as well with CJGJ out and Scott doesn’t play as tight as Maddox does nor as instinctively.  On DL, Suh, Joseph are just learning the plays and there isn’t developed communication yet.

Hurts helps the run game and all that, but to say he's the reason for Sanders success is too much of a discredit to Sanders. He hasn't come close to fumbling, he's running through arm tackles and he's generally making the right decisions. He still has a mishap here and there but he's improved a lot of his game on his own.

It's fair to say that Hurts/OL help Sanders, but this is also Sanders' best season. Both can be true!

He outplayed the old guy with a broken thumb.  That's like saying he outplayed @mattwill.

Hey, I resemble that remark!

Adam Kaplan made a couple good points on Eagles special teams. They are the youngest in the league and don't put any starters on them like some teams.

They probably should then.

I watched some of the all-22 last night.  My conclusion is that there's not a lot of tackling and getting off of blocks going on with the kickoff team.

I did too.  I noticed that the Eagles are really staggering their blocks on returns. Without much punting, I was focusing on KRs. They start turning and setting blocks at the 40 and mostly at the 35, with the blocks haphazard in every sort of direction.  Watch Green Bay and they are setting at the 30 back (much closer to the returner) and blocking directional to set holes. Much tighter blocking where the Eagles are still spread all over the field.   Ugh.  That’s bad coaching.  Imagine a run on offense where the blockers are spread across the field and 35 yards away from the runner.

Punts are a different animal.  I may look at some past games to see how they are setting blocks on PRs.

Edwards is probably top 10 in the league for TFL(not sacks).

I feel like you get this mindset on someone and then ignore every good, or decent thing that person does.

It's wild that the entire league, and those who cover the league think extremely highly of the QB of a top tier defense and you want him benched

Edwards is 41st in TFL

You do realize the QB getting hit that much, and running that much is a BAD THING right...like TERRIBLE idea right

Hurts gets roughed up more on the qb sneaks than he does on his longer runs, he does a good job avoiding contact getting out of bounds or sliding and he's a pretty sturdy strongly built guy, I mean Aaron Rodgers gut hurt taking a sack, Randall never hit hurt running it was always in the pocket.

Vick never had a serious injury running around but then again that guy never really took many big hits because no one could catch him.

Hurts answer to his record running day summed it up when he said I ran and they couldn't catch me.

He didn't take any big hits that I can remember.

Having said that not a fan of when he drops his shoulder and tries to truck dudes, can't remember him doing that against GB but a few times this year I've been like dude get down I appreciate the effort but your shoulders as a QB are more valuable than that 1 TD week 2.

Scott is useless as a run defender as well which is a bigger deal when  neither of the two outside CBs tackle well.

Maddox may be a circus midget but at nickel he's not afraid to stick his nose in their and get dirty.

Will be a nice time have him back.

(NOT SACKS) means DONT INCLUDE SACKS.

Edwards has 5 Tackles(not sacks) for Loss.. which is more than Bosa, Zderuius Smith, Micah Parsons, Etc etc etc

Umm... all those guys you mentioned are edge rushers or on ball defenders not off ball like Edwards.

Two different positions

Maddox is one of the worst tacklers on the team lol.

Starters/players who should be on at least one ST unit / doing more

  • White
  • Edwards
  • Quez
  • Josiah Scott

IMO, Josiah Scott is emblematic of the ST problem. He's fine as a backup slot CB. Not ideal, but serviceable, However, you want your #4 or #5 CB to be good on ST since that's where he'll show most of his value through the regular season. Our backup players need to be better ST players. Coaching obviously matters too.
