I really am not disagreeing with your take on this.  I am just saying that the NFL has migrated its offenses so that the threat of the QB running is incorporated.

False.  Teams that win and go deep in the playoffs do so on the arm of their QB, not the legs.

Lamar Jackson and Tim Tebow. Career wise no, but they both have games where they ran more than they attempted to throw.

I just checked their career gamelogs.  Tebow only had one career start where he ran more than pass.  Lamar Jackson too only had one career start, his first ever, where he ran more than passed.

In other words, he was correct that Tebow and Jackson have had games like that.

They ha e both had a game, singular.  A one off shoot occurrence that is different from every other career start they have had does not define their career.

Discussing the minutia of the suckiness of Tim Tebow's career is not something I'm up for today.

He was running a little behind on that 2026 dead cap, had to start addressing that now.

Most rushing attempts by a QB in a game...Jalen Hurts already has 2 in the top 11...and hes basically a rookie!!

Were those 2 games with run attempts in his first rookie year or his second rookie year?

Law guys- a guy is building a house on the formerly vacant corner lot that was used as a school bus stop.

Now he is saying people can't park along the road there when waiting for the bus.

Normally a lot of the kids walk to this stop,  but on rainy days there are more cars and there won't be enough room to park.

Is the bus stop technically public property? Or did the guy have the right to not allow people to wait in front of his house?

Sorry for asking- who is taking predictions this year?

Well, we will see what we get this year.

I'd bet a dollar that Hurts doesn't do it again this year.

The two games he beat New Orleans, but lets put this conversation to bed.

Jalen Hurts is 9-10 as a starting QB.

In games he has run 8 plus times, he is 5-10.

In games he has run 10 plus times, he is 3-5.

So imagine that, he is 4-0 when he runs 7 or less times, its almost like being an efficient passer and not running increases your success as a QB.

Interesting. Can you make a venn diagram or chart for the Hurts huggers? I don't think they can do word problems in math.

My guess would be the guy is just making stuff up, since it is likely a public road and he doesn't get to determine who parks where.

But if he's building on it and has vehicles coming and going, or doesn't want kids around his construction site, maybe having the school change the stop is a better option.

This is a little misleading without looking into his passing stats; he doesn’t throw all that much even when he’s not running.

The lions game last year, for instance. He’s not going to put his body on the line when we’re up by 25, and in that win he completed a grand total of 9 passes vs 7 rushing attempts. To imply it was a passing victory instead of a running victory is a little disingenuous.

I agree he needs to evolve in the pocket for us to be a good team, but this is not the way to show that.

I'm not suggesting going over the top in terms of pass-run ratio.  The run has its place.

I would argue that the NFLs historically elite offenses have almost all pushed the limits of the pass/run ratio that was conventional in their day.

The pass is simply more effective.  The only reason for ever running the ball at all is the same reason a pitcher with a bad change up still throws it so teams don’t jump on the fastball.  But the yards per play of pass vs run is generally far bigger than the difference in contact between fastball/off speed in pitchers with even bad off speed pitches.

Thats what the running game is…an ineffective change up.

Agreed completely.  Similarly, Hurts has had a game where he looked good as a passer.  A one off shoot occurrence that is different from every other career start he’s had does not define his career.

Assuming:

Hurts plays in all 17 games, Eagles increase their passing frequency from 47% to 55%, the offense runs 65 plays per game (up from 61.4), Hurts stays at 7.3 YPA (3,144/432), and increases his completion % from 61.3 to 62.8% -- I would put his 2022 numbers at:

382/608, 4,426 yards, 24 TD, 13 INT.

Actually, I can't do that because it would put him 6th in pass attempts and 4th in passing yards using 2021 numbers.  I'm going to take the less analytical route and put him top 12 across the board to come up with a different set of numbers:

357 completions in 531 attempts, 67.2% would be 12th, 3,810 yards, 24 TDs and 13 INT

I would wager Hurts will miss two games this season due to injury, so I'll scale those numbers down to 15 games instead of 17 to arrive at:

315/469, 3,362 yards, 21 TDs and 11 INT

I thought the run game was to set up play action and eat up the clock.

It also gives the OLine the opportunity to attack the opposing D rather than backpedal.

As far as setting up play action, that’s the change up analogy.  For eating clock…sure, but you need a nice lead before you are eating clock.  Even then, completed passes for first downs eat a lot more clock than 3 runs and a punt.
