They made the right move. Obviously the only thing that’ll be missing is Hurts mobility. Feed the ball to our backs and keep the chains moving with those quick slants to AJ with occasional deep balls. Great that Geodert is back

This is what I mean about the Pro Bowl being ridiculous...  not in terms of who was left off the team or who was added... but who is talked about as being a snub.

They list Justin Fields as a 'snub'.   Come on now.  The QB for a team with 3 wins can't be 'snubbed' from the Pro Bowl.   I know it's an individual honor, and yet, when it comes to QBs, QB success generally goes hand in hand with team success.   The Bears' offense is putrid.  Fields' passing stats are pretty bad.  Yes, he has 1000 yards rushing.  But, who cares?  Is rushing stats for a QB a 'needle mover' for the team?  Seems not.  It's almost like they fall behind and have to pass, and when he can't find someone open, he runs... and teams are content to allow it to happen.  It doesn't lead to victories.  

And they focus on Tua being a snub.  Thing is... again, QBs and team success are the links.  The 3 QBs from the AFC are: Allen (Buffalo has 11 wins), Mahomes (KC has 11 wins) and Burrow (Cincy has 10 wins).  The Dolphins have only 8 wins.  Hard to make a case for Tua over any of those three.    And in the NFC, the QBs are: Hurts (13 wins), Cousins (11 wins) and then a vacuum that had to be filled by someone - enter Geno Smith (7 wins).   Does Geno deserve to be in the Pro Bowl?  Probably not.  But, who should get in over him?  Dak?  IR likely removes him from contention, but even so, his record as a starter this year is 6-4.  Not exactly lighting it up.  Garropolo likely could have gotten the nod, but the injury eliminates him.  Goff?  Resurgent Lions... maybe a case can be made.     Ultimately, the third option in the NFC was going to be weak.  Rodgers or Brady would be only by reputation and past performances.  

 

Maybe they could go away from the NFC/AFC thing and just select the top 6 QBs... then Tua could get in over Smith and everyone would be happy.   Of course, then the argument could be made for Herbert... 2nd in passing yards and just as many wins for the Chargers as the Dolphins.  Point is... there's no way that everyone is happy with the selections.
