I was about to say "hey, the Flyers are up on Toronto 1-0 halfway through".  Then I noticed the shots on goal are Leafs 20, Flyers 4.

If you had to pick Philly athlete of the year between Jalen Hurts, Bryce Harper, Joel Embiid, who would you pick. Pluses and minuses for each

Hurts has had an amazing regular season, but the playoffs will come in 2023, so we can't weigh that yet.

Harper was having a great regular season, but got hurt, came back and struggled, but then had an absolutely amazing postseason. Historically good. Been a while since we've seen a playoff postseason performance that dominant.

Embiid - largest sample size of dominance. Put up just insane numbers for a center. And he's doing it again this year. But again, the black cloud over him is coming up small in playoffs. Granted, he was hurt and I think that really is the main cause, but nonetheless.

I think I'm leaning Bryce Harper. Even though the sample size of greatness is the shortest of the 3, his postseason run was just so amazing that I think he gets the nod. But you can make the case for all three.

Harper, no explanation needed

Why did the Giants get a lucky break with a failed physical and not us? 😭😭

I think it really has to hurt Harper's cause that the entire lineup, including him, went ice cold for almost the entire world series.

His post-season hot streak amounted to just a few games.

Woulda been better if the team won the world series. I think losing, and in such embarrassing fashion, hurts the value of his performance there quite a bit.

Theres really no one else in the conversation though. Embiid doesnt belong. Hurts needs to play, and play well in the post-season so we will see.

Yeah, that’s what happened.

That tool faked it, because he wanted to go to NY.

No athlete in the history of planet earth has ever willingly chosen to go to the biggest laughingstock organization in all of pro sports.

The Giants organization is generally pretty smart and well run, so word is Boras went behind the back of the Zaidi to do the deal with someone in the ownership group, and the front office wasn't happy about it and never wanted to sign a player to a contract that ridiculous so they "overscrutinized" the physical to get out of making that insane contract.

My mate uses SkyGo and the BT Sport iteration a lot while doing overnight shifts but not sure if you can pause or not. Not sure if Sky Q can download it  etc as I'm too tight to get it

Olave has been dealing with a hammy. If Saints lose this week and Bucs win, I don't know if the Saints would officially be eliminated. They'd be 2 games behind the Bucs with 2 to play while losing the tiebreaker, so I think they would be. That would mean they probably start resting their starters the rest of the way when banged up to not risk further injury.

So obviously we are all rooting for Bucs win + Saints loss anyway, but even more so this week, because if the Dallas game is a loss and the Saints are eliminated, we could be going up against a thin Saints lineup in game 16.

My memory of that series 10-15 years from now will probably be that they got no-hit, at home, up 2-1 in the World Series with a chance to take a stranglehold.

You answered your own question.  They would lose head to head tie breaker.

Yes either would but I don’t like the Maddox matchup at all

I'm not sure if they would be for the playoffs in general though. I don't think they would be, but they'd probably need a ton of stuff to go right. Like win out and a bunch of teams lose out. If Bucs win and Saints lose this week, they probably start resting their banged up guys the rest of the way unless they just don't want to stomach having to give a top 5 pick to the Eagles and play guys with injuries for spite purposes.

They would be.  They are gonna lose this week in Cleveland, and they are not going to pass 5 teams with 3 weeks to play.

I really haven't been keeping track but I assume Michael Thomas is injured.  Haven't heard anything about him and not too long ago he was considered as maybe the best WR in football.  What a waste of talent.

Maddox tends to not compete very well when he's matched up against a WR1.  I think Devontae Adams was on his way to an NFL record for receiving yards in a game until he got injured in that Packers game a couple of years ago.

If the Turds were smart they would actually save that matchup for a potential playoff meeting -- but who's kidding who?  DAL would be wise not to do any planning for a 2nd playoff game in the same season.

He had 10 for 180, and only missed the last possession.

So Verlander didn’t just chose to go to the Mets as well?  Or Scherzer?  You’ve never heard of an athlete wanting to play in NYC?

Yeah, Cespedes, Bartolo Colon, Cliff Floyd, Granderson, Pedro Martinez, Bonilla, Ventura, Glavine, Wagner, Dickey, Beltran and Piazza did not willingly choose to sign with the Mets @Sack that QB

They were way overpaid no one even offered close to the money they got. The Giants offered more than the Mets. He wouldn't turn down more money to go to a worse organization.

The Yankees are the NY team players try to force their way to. Not the Mets lol. LOLMets is a meme for a reason.
