Yup.

Running a 4-2-5 most of the game when you're getting gassed in the run game, while your CBs are better than your LBs, is just dumb.

Marlon T playing 42% of the snaps is Fing ridiculous.

Frankly, he's the only player on the DL that really made a play though.  More an indictment on the rest of them, but... without him there's no pick-6, and possibly no win.

Drafting a QB at Number one that's that short seems like a recipe to become the Cardinals.   6 foot QBs have had success, but they are few and far between.

I think he'll be just as successful as Russell Wilson.

Talent wise I think Murray is better but he’s way more of a diva

TJ Edwards not coming off the field and playing every snap is too.  He clearly needs to be situational.

Im not seeing it

I think stroud will be more successful in the nfl

Ok.  Remember, Wilson was a 3rd round pick, in part due to his height.  Young will be dinged by scouts and NFL teams for the height issue.  There's nothing he can do about it, but it is definitely considered a negative for him going into the draft.   I just don't see him as a Number 1 overall pick.  Then again, I didn't see that in Murray either, nor did I consider Murray's contract to be a smart investment.   So, what do I know?

In today’s NFL, this is going to be your main formation. The DLine, specifically the DTs need to do a better job of being stout and shedding blocks.

OC’s tend to be pass happy, IMO. So even if you can hold the opponent to a modest run game, they’ll get away from it.

It's not just Young's height though.  He's the QB version of DeVonta Smith. I don't see how his body would stand up to a 17 game NFL schedule.

I went back through the Gamebook https://nflcdns.nfl.com/liveupdate/gamecenter/58843/DET_Gamebook.pdf

Hurts scrambled 10 times for 76 yards.  Four led to first downs.

Seven actual runs for 14 yards.  Eight of which on their first play.

Thanks. Going into the game I thought we had the edge on both lines. I was wrong. Their OL dominated our DL and their rush scheme confused our OL. We got better on the latter over the course of the game but our DL did not improve. Ragnow completely handled Davis.

Hurts bailed out our OL time and time again.

So for those who said we didn't need off season reps because they've been tackling since they were kids, you still think so? That was disgusting yesterday

I never want to hear any Dallas fan call us trashy again. They literally threw trash at their QB as he was going into the locker room to get medical attention. Trash fans.

Yep, I have been beating the table for over a year on his delivery.  It is not an NFL Qb delivery.  Even that deep pass to AJ, which was a good pass, was an ugly delivery.  His motion is long and over the top and he gets on his toes.  Just not fluid or natural.  That is the reason you see those quick timing throws to the outside/left, just nose-diving.  He doesn't have the arm talent and without a complete mechanics over-haul, he never will.

The throwing on his toes thing is the big thing for me.  He will never generate enough power by not having a firm throwing base.  Always on his toes.

I cant remember a more chalk week 1 in my life.

Outside of Trey Lance being REALLY bad, Nothing really crazy happened.

@TorontoEagleWhen does your Avatar start? I just want an American Flag in there for a week

Lame, I thought I had it in the bag, stupid defense. We'll start it today, and end it next Monday morning.

There was one play where Detroit had two DL lined up touching shoulders over the RG... (Hutchinson was one of them.).  Kelce seemed to have a DT over him.  When the ball was snapped, Kelce went to his right and doubled Hutchinson, I believe.  Dickerson went to his left, and the DT over the center basically got a free run at Hurts.   What do you think happened there?   Clearly, that's not what they want to happen.  No matter who is out wider, you have to block from the inside out, and the DT wasn't a late blitzer or anything, he was lined up almost in 0 technique, maybe a slight shade to the left side A gap.   Was it simply miscommunication between Kelce and Dickerson, or was there maybe a back supposed to pick up the DT (not my favorite option)... or should Kelce have at least put an arm out to push the DT towards the LG before committing to the double?

Next off season, the D side of the ball need to be in better physical condition/get pre-season snaps; too many were gassed by the 4th quarter and basic standards just weren't there. Slay did a good job, so did White and Epps but that was kind of it.  The coaching needs to be better too; great to keep playing Nickel but the Lions were abusing that package.  Adjustments not principles.

The ITB with Tra Thomas from last night is worth a listen; Tra has some good observations.  Good to get a W, but this time needs to improve a lot - like many out there.

As for Dallas; their O looked like a team in cap hell - same as the Eagles over the past few seasons.  Can we officially label Dak as injury prone?  He got paid and gets injured.  Same as Zeke.

Not me, This defense is far from coming together. I dont trust Johnny Gannon AND as I mentioned a couple times. Us crushing the Lions last year was an extreme outlier for them

How's this? Having a hard time cropping one in there

Brandon Graham played less than 50% of the snaps.  I suspect he'll be limited going forward.  He seems cooked.  Tiupulotu got wayy too much playing time.  I'd rather see M Williams get those snaps.

As I wondered, our defenses looked like a bunch of good spare parts.  The fronts that were deployed seemed odd and made no sense.  You'd think the coaching staff would have used all of the time in training camp to figure this ish out.  Maybe 60 mins a day, 4 days a week wasn't enough time.

I actually was happy with Slay and Bradbury’s performance yesterday. Been awhile seeing Corners contesting WR’s. The Dline though Holy S___. Brutal, just brutal no other way to put it.

Imagine if this game would have been outdoors.  Eagles were lucky to be indoors.  They wouldn't be able to stand the heat of Game 1.

This time I went aggressive and they gave him the normal person timeline.

There's no question that the soft practices lead to penalties & bad tackling early. The question is does it help long term health? Personally I think they've gone too soft and need to amp it up at least a little more

Yup.  Playing that sort of game in Miami would have been IV central on the D.  I get the desire to keep players fresh and reduce niggles, but especially with the bigger bodies, they need a higher base level of fitness to start a season

Yeah, but what did Gannon say when he was hired?  He said he doesn't have a scheme.  That should have been a red flag.  Because one year and 1 game down, he's right, he doesn't have a scheme.  Without the right coaching and direction, all it is, is a bunch of good spare parts.  When guys know what their job is and what their teammates job is, then all that is left is to play with their hair on fire.  If we're switching from 4/3 to 3/4 to 5 man front to nickel or dime.  Jesus christ.  Pick an identity and master it.

Time to bring in Fangio. I've seen enough.
