If you want to distill it down to one single game, then Hurts deserves to be stacked into the "Pat him on the back, he’s the reason we won” category.  I’d provide the counterpoint that Detroit was the NFL’s most qb friendly defense last year and a qb that knows how to pass also drops 31 on them with ease…but the original point still stands.  He was a major driving force behind the win.

But that’s the problem with defending Hurts.  We have to keep moving the goal posts backwards for our positive narrative.  First it’s all about attitude and no substance.  Then it’s all about continued marginal improvement despite a lacking bottom line.  Now it’s about the fact that his pure running ability was the reason we just beat one of the NFLs worst teams in a shootout.

At what point is it ok to say this isn’t ok?  At what point is it ok to say that he is not and never will be a particularly good passer…and im not ok with running this kind of offense?

At some point, you have to side-step the "just win baby” and the "win how you can with what you have” cliches and set forth on a path with a blueprint that actually works in this league against elite teams.  Yes, it may leave you worse off.  Yes, Josh Allen and Pat Mahomes are not easy to find.  But how far down a not good enough road do you want to venture?

Same reason they decided to kick a 64 yard FG instead of going for it on 4th and 5 to pick up more yards with 2 timeouts. I get he’s a rookie HC but Denver was sloppy all night and the play calling didn’t help either.

Geno Smith or Davis Mills doesn’t seem like too much to ask for. Derek Carr? I’d be stoked for 2017 Case Keenum.

Whatever the NFL is testing for, DK has found a way around it.    Maybe it wasn’t the neck injury that made him fall in the draft, likely Scouts, and GM’s worried he’d get caught using PED’s.

No, that was Justin Tucker last year in Detroit.

The longest FG in history was not kicked in Seattle, where the game was tonight.

Im thinking JR is not an RTK level Hurts supporter. I think JR is trying to take a middle ground on his week 1 performance, which is not an overall endorsement of Hurts as the franchise QB.

I disagree with his reasons for claiming that ground. He seems happy Hurts made enough plays to win even if it wasnt pretty. Most of us say, at this point in his career, it should no longer be acceptable for him to play that way. We want him to be a QB, so that performance was not pleasing to us.

That just sounds like a discussion to me. I dont think anyone has been obsessing. 

Amazing how this game played out. the Seahawks offense did nothing in the second half. had 44 yards total and a fumble. Yet the broncos managed to piss the game away fumbling the ball twice inside the 1, relying on a 64 yard field goal to try to win it instead of trying to get closer as Denver had compiled 213 yards in the 2nd half 

Was a tough second half for Geno but overall happy for him.

I think everyone is trying to kick between different goal posts. I don’t care about week 1 Detroit goal posts. I’m trying to figure out the "do we have an NFL QB” goal posts. 
 

Ive already accepted that Hurts can do enough to beat bad teams. We saw that last year.

That’s why I said all week I was looking right past DET to the Week 2 matchup against the Vikings.  The Eagles will likely need to play well on both offense and defense to get a win.

the difference in the AFC West and the chiefs repeating as champions this year is going to be Andy Reid (with mahomes) being able to adapt to the personnel and not missing a beat.
